My favorite species is Dutch Angel Dragon. Basically because they are a whole different take on dragons. I always loved dragons to begin with and they were just really original. I love how spiritual they are. So my fursona, Remix, is also a dutchie. Cause it really feels like me. Currently i own 8 dutchie characters and 2 dutchie suits of which one is my fursona ofcourse. You could say i am literally addicted to them haha. I also helped and worked hard with Ino and some other furs to build up the community around the species. Nobody expected it to blow up the way it did. But we're happy it did. It's making so many people happy :) My second favorite is leathersaurs. I love their unique design. Design wise they can go either way. They are cute yet creepy.

I've made a hybrid-custom species mix-thing, Crocjays. I don't have any art of him, or a lot of backstory just yet, since I'm made him very recently. but here's their Backstory/mentality: Crocjays are Crocodile and Bluejay hybrids. They were created in a lab where scientists were trying to make something to hunt game. Crocodiles have strong jaws and a large stature, and Bluejays have highly aggressive insticts. Though they have wings, they cannot fly due to their size. Instead, they can glide for a short amount of time. They're quite fast and extremely curious. They're not so much aggressive as they are protective, all crocjays are very social and they have strong maternal instinct. However, because of their curiousness, their maternal instincts and their oblivious, careless mindeset, they were chosen not to hunt game, but instead to be pets and guard animals. Physical description: Crocjays are tall, pudgy, and covered in feathers. They have wing instead of arms, and crocodile legs. Some area have an emphasis in feathery-ness, including the neck, back, and tail. They have a long crocodile tail, and a crocodile snout. Their pudgy appearance comes from all their feathers; Crocjays are usually quite muscular. They have all these feathers since they were created to hunt winter game. Some Crocjays have spikes that go down their back. They come in a multitude of colors, including: Black, Forest green, Pale green, Beige, White, Dark blue, Royal blue, Baby blue, or Pale turquoise. Rebound's appearance: Rebound is a short, pudgy, Crocjay. He has a baby blue torso and white wings. His head is a slightly darker blue, with a thin stripe that reaches from his head to his tail. He has large, hazelnut brown eyes. Edit: Note that Crocjay is a placeholder name, and I may or may not choose a different one for the end result.

I mean, I'd imagine from the _"soda"_ that they'd have to be a soda/fizzy drink/pop in order to be called a sodaroo. Feel free to make a Tearoo or a Coffeeroo though.
A species that I made? Well, I did make one, but I don't know if it's gonna suddenly explode out of popularity or whatever. I kinda hope it doesn't, though, but I'm still gonna tell you about it because I have nothing better to do: It's like a dragon with a long-ish muzzle and a curved beak at the end like a macaw, but only the top part (like the nose and stuff) is actually a beak, the bottom part is like any other jaw part of a mammal, you know, squishy with like flesh and muscles and stuff so it can talk properly (kinda). The ears are kinda like what you would imagine as a cow's ears and the ears of Stitch from Lilo and Stitch mixed together, kinda short but thin and flexible. Instead of having paws or something on their front limbs/arms, they have mallets connected to their wrist joint, somewhat like a prosthetic leg but mostly made out of bone stuff. On each feather of their wings, they have some sort of a chromatic percussion instrument attached to it, like a xylophone note or a bell or whatever. They can have either paws or hooves for their bottom feet/normal feet/I can't describe stuff right, depending on where they live. If they live somewhere where it's hot, like Florida, they might have paws, but if they live somewhere cold like Alaska they might have hooves. They usually have metal rings around some joints on their body, whether it's their elbow or their ear or whatever, and sometimes they can interchange their limbs with the metal rings being where they connect. It'll all make sense when I draw a picture of an example, but for now this is the description of the species. So do you think this is a good idea for a species or no? I'd love to hear feedback from a furry with more experience with the fandom, since I'm rather new compared to you guys that have been in the fandom for years. Been working on my own original species. So far it's just my fursona and one adopt I made but I'm hoping that once I finish the lore more people will gain an interest in them
I'm making an original species right now! I'm putting so much work into it. I'm already in love with them. I'm going to make sure they're open, so anyone can make one. I already have the lore worked out, and everything. I really do wish Primagens weren't closed, but I'm glad they made Protogens. I'm not a big fan of closed species, but I understand.
I have my own species, Fadicats! They are creatures distantly related to cats. I'm not ready to start selling any but I hope to make a fursuit, and begin. I've decided I want to create my own skull related custom species. I originally started out with making a hybrid but then I realized it started to get confusing even for myself and now I'm here figuring out how to develop it into an original species... lol
My species: Carroki came into this world by a simple sketch with red pen on my schoolwork. I'm making a species for me and my friend that has a usb coming from their mouth. Currently it looks mostly wolfish, it has feathered wings, a fluffy bigcat like tail and feathers on their faces. Anyone have some ideas how to make it less like hybrid and more like an original species? It's called a Synwurff, but that might change.
Maybe add scales in some places, like the snout or tail, or maybe give them some kind of spines. I know I’m late one this comment and vid, but oh well it’s out now
Man that comment is old. I've since removed the USB idea, and their name has been altered to Zynwulf. Although it doesn't change how they look, they have the ability to teleport several meters, which is usually used to help initiate flight. I was considering adding more feathers to the tail but I was worried it would look too much like a Dutch angel dragon, even though they dont have a "feral" or quadruped form.

I made a species when I was 12. I finally decided to release them to the public officially when I was about 20. I worked on them over that time. Originally, they were dragon-wolves. But today they have so much lore, and they are Pneumatic Dragon-Wolves. I've had so many people adopt and make their own and love them. You inspired me to actually let everyone enjoy them. Youve also inspired me to make my own fursuits (Im making my PDW mascot at this very moment). I hope to show the whole world them one day and bring happiness.
Over the summer, a few friends and I developed a species called Carmelos, or Fruit Wolves, one night while we were pulling an all-nighter together and chatting. We each have a few Carmelo characters, and are still working on lore and such to this day. It's currently a closed species, only us and other friends of ours can make Carmelos. I'm not sure if we'll ever make them open or just keep them closed, but I like how it is now: a small, humble little species created by and for a wonderful group of people. dont mind me blabbin on about carmelos ack :v
The funny thing about the closest thing I have to an original species is that there's more distinction in the custom language they speak than in their physical appearances.
My favourite original species is a species called Toskals. (If you're searching it, just search Toskal.) They were accidentally made into a closed species. They were originally just the creator's own 'sona, but some people liked them a lot so they became a species.

I made a species for a comic project I've been working on for a long time. It was originally just an Asian dragon drawn with bearded dragon features, because I noticed similarities in the real animal and the fictional creature, and I was drawing it just for fun. But then I started tweaking the design and giving it vague features of other reptiles and animals, and it's now a species with a huge range of looks, spanning different habitats in my world. I made my then-sona look like one, and it's been my fursona for a couple of years now!
I have my original species estrelas, they started as moth dragons then got too different from both bases. Here are some characteristics Intense neck fluff Intense arm fluff Short muzzles All must have antennas or horns At least one or more shapes must be present on the fur markings They all glow in the dark or have lights If there is more I’ll edit bits that’s all I can think of

For the normal angel dragons: It is more of a collection of people who have other species of angel dragons, like Tunnel Claw Angel Dragons, or just don't want to have backstories or a species attached to their characters. I help run the Official Angel Dragon Community on Facebook, and trust me, I feel the struggle of making sure people are not stepping on everyone else's species toes.

I watched the episode about the different types of fursuits to get introduced to this channel... and am so addicted with the kangaroo. I never even thought about a kangaroo as a fursona but the way your suit is made is just so adorable! It makes me wish that I actually had a chance to really get in shape for one of those anthrocons and get my own suit just because of how cool and adorable some of them can be!
My species' most distinct trait is that instead of picking up and hoarding treasure like regular dragons, they hoard sweets. I'm still developing lore and I currently only have one character of the species.
I made a little story and I hope you guys like it! (The species is unnamed at the moment) In the Kyrisla galaxy, on a planet named Masa, a race of animals resides. They have flat faces with small pink noses. Their fur patterns on their faces resemble the Yin-Yang, and they always have a single antler and a long, flowing mane. They have four arms, 2 with paws and 2 with hooves. They always have plantigrade legs and they have a trident shaped tail. They always have a sort of inflated chest (not trying to be sexual, it’s because they have an extra organ in their chests that produces a chemical that helps them adapt to the atmosphere of any planet and it’s big so it makes them look a little weird). They also have no gender, and can reproduce with each other no matter what. Some have migrated to Earth and settled there (they have the ability to breathe in space as well) and they started to live along the furry fandom because they felt that furries were a great way to help themselves from being rejected from other groups because of how strange they look. Sorry if I rambled on a bit, but what do you guys think?

I own a species called Diamond Monsters! They are a *closed* species. They are feral babs who float because they have no legs! You can find them on Species Amino. :) I'm planning to do customs soon so yeah!
Wow, your tips are neat. As a biology minor undergraduate scientist in training, the point you made about making a whole lore on your unique species really shines through. It is one of if the most important element of understanding nature and the organisms in the environment around us. So my unique species will be like what you just said complete with the scientific nomenclature of said species.
#QnA Hi, Pocari! I've been wondering this for a long time, and I want someone else's opinion on it. When creating a new fursona, I sometimes have ideas of randomly creating hybrids (for example a deer and a wolf), but I often wonder if it'd be considered an "original species", or a neutral hybrid anyone can use/create. What do you think the line between an original species, and an unoriginal species (deer x wolf) is?
I have three original species I want to create... maybe just for myself tho. Candy Cats, candy themed cats including chocolate, gummies, and anything you can think of! Fruit Felines, fruit cats with adorable themes and more rules than Candy Cats. Lakuras are cat-ish animals who are native to another planet. They travelled back in time to try and stop humans from destroying earth with pollution and global warming. They have those flippable sequins for markings and are mainly black, gray, light gray, or partially white.
My species has 2 fursuits, and they are finally growing. If you look up Tibas on Google images or Amino you will see em. Could i get some opinions on them if you see them?
So I'm sketching a species. It's going to be a bunny with a LOT of teeth and a short tail that goes to your ankles with a floof ball at the end, it will also have huge curled horns, but only 2 toes and 3 fingers including the thumb. The fingers will be pretty much just claws coming out from a paw. The toes will have little claws, also the teeth are sharp and all over the place like a gator. They're normally seen wearing hoodies and can have either leg type. Their eyes are all white with a thin black oval pointing forward. They also have a little pouch on each hip.
Thank you for the advice, I am currently reinventing my character. I will definitely try and take into account your tips. I agree that some of the best species are created from people's passion, whether it be through virtual platforms that allow vast experimentation, close bonds with friends, or some other muse. I know for me it came about from my writing and how my character blossomed from that, and just other little quirks that I have picked up from an artist here and there. I saw you had a video on suits which I hope to watch later as I want to get one to bring my sona to life too!

I am currently working on a species rn if that counts, theyre a monster like creature with two sets of ears, connected, on each side of their heads, they wear a skull with horns on top, cause why not and there are small tuffs of a floof poking out of the skull a bit on each cheek. They have a ton of fur surrounding the necks and elbows down to their claws. They have around 3-4 claws on each hand. They also have a card-like symbol on their chest such as: Ace, Spade, Heart, and Clover. They have 3-4 toes(claws may be included) and long tails, with a lot of floof at the end. And they have no name yet
Vernides are my favorite original species. I happened upon a picture of on on ifunny of all places and my brain exploded, I loved how it looked so much, so I brought it to furry amino and found out what it was and then I started reading about them and I loved them even more, I could totally relate to their lore, behavior, etc and every tiny piece about their design was everything I loved. Dragons and vernides are my two go-to species
I created something called an archaeoraptor.... my fursona is a sergal wolf mix who can shapeshift into an archaeoraptor personally I don't exactly want anyone else to use the archaeoraptor as a fursona, I would prefer my archaeoraptor fursona as a personal species..... well I guess you would need my permission but there is nothing on TH-cam that shows an archaeoraptor but I am planning to make another channel called Kαikσrα the Archαeσrαptσr but its probably not going to be made in a while..... I really want a fursuit T^T
Archaeoraptors are a preexisting prehistoric species, so you can't claim them. It's like saying "Hey! I made a eagle, and no one else can make an eagle fursona now since I like eagles and they're mine!"

I actually made my own species. No lore yet, but its there! They are called 'Beedri's. (beed- ree) They are like, big floppy, bird, raptor, deer. 😂 But, they HAVE to have some sort of swirl in their horns. :3 Edit: I think I'll post a speed paint soon.
I have made a original species, I just like to draw it and stuff. The species’ name is a Scottish Prixieline [ p•r•i•x•y• line ] and are a creature with long, curving horns, are covered in fur until the bottom which slightly looks like dinosaur feet. They stand up on two legs, and their eyes are often made of yellow, purple or green. The normal fur colour for them are black to white, and brown to beige, though slightly orange ones do exist. The creatures live in the north of Scotland, and therefore have massive horns to combat any animals. They are related to the Scottish Wilscat and therefore have some qualities, such as massive ears.
Hey, great video. I have a Dutch Angel Dragon as my secondary fursona and I absolutely love her. Never expected to have one and be so involved in the Angel Dragon community, but they’re wonderful. One of the better corners of the furry fandom.
I have an open species! It's based off an idea I had of a crossing between fluffy little creatures and raptors, the species is called Aetors but I just call them Fuzzraptors since the only person who's made a character of them is me ^_^' I'm even making a quad-fursuit of it to hopefully boost the popularity of it slightly, but if all fails, I'll just call my little Skello the Fuzzraptor a hybrid~ (there's not much history behind them so that's probably why no one's picked up on them at all :P)
Literally the only custom species I've seen that has a rule that everyone follows is that only telephone is the only Dutch angle dragon that can have the white band on the muzzle.
I am very laid-back when it comes to making rules for things, and I think it's probably because i don't want to have to deal with people who are going to break them
I created a ocs specifically so I would have some furry related stuff for my first furry convention. The first one is literally a walking talking piñata.... He kinda looks like a mixture of a donkey and a Chinese dragon, but very colorful and derp

A species that I made? Well, I did make one, but I don't know if it's gonna suddenly explode out of popularity or whatever. I kinda hope it doesn't, though, but I'm still gonna tell you about it because I have nothing better to do:
It's like a dragon with a long-ish muzzle and a curved beak at the end like a macaw, but only the top part (like the nose and stuff) is actually a beak, the bottom part is like any other jaw part of a mammal, you know, squishy with like flesh and muscles and stuff so it can talk properly (kinda). The ears are kinda like what you would imagine as a cow's ears and the ears of Stitch from Lilo and Stitch mixed together, kinda short but thin and flexible. Instead of having paws or something on their front limbs/arms, they have mallets connected to their wrist joint, somewhat like a prosthetic leg but mostly made out of bone stuff. On each feather of their wings, they have some sort of a chromatic percussion instrument attached to it, like a xylophone note or a bell or whatever. They can have either paws or hooves for their bottom feet/normal feet/I can't describe stuff right, depending on where they live. If they live somewhere where it's hot, like Florida, they might have paws, but if they live somewhere cold like Alaska they might have hooves. They usually have metal rings around some joints on their body, whether it's their elbow or their ear or whatever, and sometimes they can interchange their limbs with the metal rings being where they connect. It'll all make sense when I draw a picture of an example, but for now this is the description of the species.
So do you think this is a good idea for a species or no? I'd love to hear feedback from a furry with more experience with the fandom, since I'm rather new compared to you guys that have been in the fandom for years.

I'm making a species for me and my friend that has a usb coming from their mouth. Currently it looks mostly wolfish, it has feathered wings, a fluffy bigcat like tail and feathers on their faces. Anyone have some ideas how to make it less like hybrid and more like an original species? It's called a Synwurff, but that might change.

Man that comment is old. I've since removed the USB idea, and their name has been altered to Zynwulf. Although it doesn't change how they look, they have the ability to teleport several meters, which is usually used to help initiate flight. I was considering adding more feathers to the tail but I was worried it would look too much like a Dutch angel dragon, even though they dont have a "feral" or quadruped form.

I made a species when I was 12. I finally decided to release them to the public officially when I was about 20. I worked on them over that time. Originally, they were dragon-wolves. But today they have so much lore, and they are Pneumatic Dragon-Wolves. I've had so many people adopt and make their own and love them. You inspired me to actually let everyone enjoy them. Youve also inspired me to make my own fursuits (Im making my PDW mascot at this very moment). I hope to show the whole world them one day and bring happiness.

Over the summer, a few friends and I developed a species called Carmelos, or Fruit Wolves, one night while we were pulling an all-nighter together and chatting. We each have a few Carmelo characters, and are still working on lore and such to this day. It's currently a closed species, only us and other friends of ours can make Carmelos. I'm not sure if we'll ever make them open or just keep them closed, but I like how it is now: a small, humble little species created by and for a wonderful group of people.

The funny thing about the closest thing I have to an original species is that there's more distinction in the custom language they speak than in their physical appearances.
My favourite original species is a species called Toskals. (If you're searching it, just search Toskal.) They were accidentally made into a closed species. They were originally just the creator's own 'sona, but some people liked them a lot so they became a species.

I made a species for a comic project I've been working on for a long time. It was originally just an Asian dragon drawn with bearded dragon features, because I noticed similarities in the real animal and the fictional creature, and I was drawing it just for fun. But then I started tweaking the design and giving it vague features of other reptiles and animals, and it's now a species with a huge range of looks, spanning different habitats in my world. I made my then-sona look like one, and it's been my fursona for a couple of years now!

For the normal angel dragons: It is more of a collection of people who have other species of angel dragons, like Tunnel Claw Angel Dragons, or just don't want to have backstories or a species attached to their characters. I help run the Official Angel Dragon Community on Facebook, and trust me, I feel the struggle of making sure people are not stepping on everyone else's species toes.

I watched the episode about the different types of fursuits to get introduced to this channel... and am so addicted with the kangaroo. I never even thought about a kangaroo as a fursona but the way your suit is made is just so adorable! It makes me wish that I actually had a chance to really get in shape for one of those anthrocons and get my own suit just because of how cool and adorable some of them can be!
My species' most distinct trait is that instead of picking up and hoarding treasure like regular dragons, they hoard sweets.
I'm still developing lore and I currently only have one character of the species.

In the Kyrisla galaxy, on a planet named Masa, a race of animals resides. They have flat faces with small pink noses. Their fur patterns on their faces resemble the Yin-Yang, and they always have a single antler and a long, flowing mane. They have four arms, 2 with paws and 2 with hooves. They always have plantigrade legs and they have a trident shaped tail. They always have a sort of inflated chest (not trying to be sexual, it’s because they have an extra organ in their chests that produces a chemical that helps them adapt to the atmosphere of any planet and it’s big so it makes them look a little weird). They also have no gender, and can reproduce with each other no matter what. Some have migrated to Earth and settled there (they have the ability to breathe in space as well) and they started to live along the furry fandom because they felt that furries were a great way to help themselves from being rejected from other groups because of how strange they look.

Wow, your tips are neat. As a biology minor undergraduate scientist in training, the point you made about making a whole lore on your unique species really shines through. It is one of if the most important element of understanding nature and the organisms in the environment around us. So my unique species will be like what you just said complete with the scientific nomenclature of said species.

When creating a new fursona, I sometimes have ideas of randomly creating hybrids (for example a deer and a wolf), but I often wonder if it'd be considered an "original species", or a neutral hybrid anyone can use/create. What do you think the line between an original species, and an unoriginal species (deer x wolf) is?

I have three original species I want to create... maybe just for myself tho. Candy Cats, candy themed cats including chocolate, gummies, and anything you can think of! Fruit Felines, fruit cats with adorable themes and more rules than Candy Cats. Lakuras are cat-ish animals who are native to another planet. They travelled back in time to try and stop humans from destroying earth with pollution and global warming. They have those flippable sequins for markings and are mainly black, gray, light gray, or partially white.
My species has 2 fursuits, and they are finally growing. If you look up Tibas on Google images or Amino you will see em. Could i get some opinions on them if you see them?

So I'm sketching a species. It's going to be a bunny with a LOT of teeth and a short tail that goes to your ankles with a floof ball at the end, it will also have huge curled horns, but only 2 toes and 3 fingers including the thumb. The fingers will be pretty much just claws coming out from a paw. The toes will have little claws, also the teeth are sharp and all over the place like a gator. They're normally seen wearing hoodies and can have either leg type. Their eyes are all white with a thin black oval pointing forward. They also have a little pouch on each hip.
Thank you for the advice, I am currently reinventing my character. I will definitely try and take into account your tips. I agree that some of the best species are created from people's passion, whether it be through virtual platforms that allow vast experimentation, close bonds with friends, or some other muse. I know for me it came about from my writing and how my character blossomed from that, and just other little quirks that I have picked up from an artist here and there. I saw you had a video on suits which I hope to watch later as I want to get one to bring my sona to life too!

I am currently working on a species rn if that counts, theyre a monster like creature with two sets of ears, connected, on each side of their heads, they wear a skull with horns on top, cause why not and there are small tuffs of a floof poking out of the skull a bit on each cheek. They have a ton of fur surrounding the necks and elbows down to their claws. They have around 3-4 claws on each hand. They also have a card-like symbol on their chest such as: Ace, Spade, Heart, and Clover. They have 3-4 toes(claws may be included) and long tails, with a lot of floof at the end. And they have no name yet

Vernides are my favorite original species. I happened upon a picture of on on ifunny of all places and my brain exploded, I loved how it looked so much, so I brought it to furry amino and found out what it was and then I started reading about them and I loved them even more, I could totally relate to their lore, behavior, etc and every tiny piece about their design was everything I loved. Dragons and vernides are my two go-to species
I created something called an archaeoraptor.... my fursona is a sergal wolf mix who can shapeshift into an archaeoraptor personally I don't exactly want anyone else to use the archaeoraptor as a fursona, I would prefer my archaeoraptor fursona as a personal species..... well I guess you would need my permission but there is nothing on TH-cam that shows an archaeoraptor but I am planning to make another channel called Kαikσrα the Archαeσrαptσr but its probably not going to be made in a while.....

Archaeoraptors are a preexisting prehistoric species, so you can't claim them. It's like saying "Hey! I made a eagle, and no one else can make an eagle fursona now since I like eagles and they're mine!"

I have made a original species, I just like to draw it and stuff. The species’ name is a Scottish Prixieline [ p•r•i•x•y• line ] and are a creature with long, curving horns, are covered in fur until the bottom which slightly looks like dinosaur feet. They stand up on two legs, and their eyes are often made of yellow, purple or green. The normal fur colour for them are black to white, and brown to beige, though slightly orange ones do exist. The creatures live in the north of Scotland, and therefore have massive horns to combat any animals. They are related to the Scottish Wilscat and therefore have some qualities, such as massive ears.

I have an open species! It's based off an idea I had of a crossing between fluffy little creatures and raptors, the species is called Aetors but I just call them Fuzzraptors since the only person who's made a character of them is me ^_^' I'm even making a quad-fursuit of it to hopefully boost the popularity of it slightly, but if all fails, I'll just call my little Skello the Fuzzraptor a hybrid~ (there's not much history behind them so that's probably why no one's picked up on them at all :P)
Literally the only custom species I've seen that has a rule that everyone follows is that only telephone is the only Dutch angle dragon that can have the white band on the muzzle.
I am very laid-back when it comes to making rules for things, and I think it's probably because i don't want to have to deal with people who are going to break them
