    Gotta switch that esc to the Firma 160. Seems like some people have good luck with the stock Firma 120’esc and others don’t like you and me

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never did figure out why Proboat would put the tiny Firma 120 in a boat that should come stock with a 160a but what do we know.. My v2 is still under warranty and will see how Horizon will take care of this.

    • @bigboyrc25

      @@nwirc Yesh it beats me why they’d put such a underpowered esc in such a big boat. Like mad lizard said I’d get the 150 esc or the Firma 160 and be done.

      @@bigboyrc25 Right.. Why put a 3s esc in a 6s system.. Makes no sense lol.. Just waiting to here back from Horizon..

      Bigboyrc- I agree, I don’t get why Proboat puts esc’s that are near their limit in rtr’s. Prime example is the dynamite 120’s in the ul-19 and Veles. Then when everyone runs them on 6s as the box claims them to be, they can’t handle it and burn up. Yea it might be a bit cheaper to put them in but all the warranty claims would surely negate the cost savings if they put in higher rated esc’s that are over what they’re expected to put out to run cooler.

    Hi there. My V2 is still stock and have not experienced any power cuts. My batteries are Overlander 5000mah, 80C constant with 140C burst. It seems these ESCs are a bit variable in terms of reliability so upgrading is possibly the way to go.

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends brother.. Don't upgrade unless you have to cause upgrading isn't cheap. This is just my experience that I want to share with all.

    I had cutouts with my 120 esc as well ,you could try changing the timing on it but it comes stock set at zero. I put the 160 in mine upgraded the servo ,improved steering, also upgraded controller to dx5 rugged for tuning setups ,live info on temp volts rpm etc.well worth it. Also madlizzards stinger ,boat bitz trim tabs,ose extra large turn fins. All great improvements.

    • @nwirc

      I'm trying to keep this boat as stock as possible only through the warranty period. So far Horizon has been great sending me parts that has failed. I use the dx5 as well and it's nice to adjust end point or to tweak other setting. I'm thinking about getting that stinger from Mad Lizard as well.. My v1 has all the boat bitz on the back of it. Thanks for the info and I might try changing the timing on the motor next.

    I’m having an issue with mine, which is completely stock. 2nd time running the boat with brand new batteries it just shuts down. when you give it throttle. Bad ESC?

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would yes to the bad esc. That's exactly what mine was doing and I was blaming the lipos. Changed our the esc and it runs great again.

    Didn't see any update unless I missed it, wondering same thing. Mine is still all stock, 2 times out has power cut top end. Any suggestions for the fix?

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was running to big of a prop which fried the stock esc. They replaced it under warranty and fixed the issue. I want to install a larger esc before running a large prop. I'll get an updated video out once the weather cooperates.

    Hey man i saw your video about the sonicwake v2 and mine has two weeks and i have not the oportinity of use a pack of batteries till cut off because i have also power cuts specially when i loose the throtle and then i pull onu time or two the trigger and it seems it is "thinking". I live in Portugal and today my hobby shop asked to returmn the boat. Could you tell me if your suspiction about the esc was right? Thanks man for the imput.

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My problem was the esc. Horizon warranted it. Same issue that you're describing to me. I need to get a video out on it before I pull the esc back out. I want to go with a 160a-180a to ensure this issue stops. These little 120s aren't designed for this size boat. Also don't be surprised if your stock servo goes out. Mine did after the second run. I'm not hating at all but that's what I went through.

    • @JoaoPaulo-pb9zv
      @JoaoPaulo-pb9zv ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok thanks for the imput, for sure the problem mine has would be the same yep the servo was still going but its a fact this boat deserves more than a plastic gear servo.

    I read a lot about this problem before putting my V2 on the water the first time and ordered the Spektrum 160 ESC it bolts right in but you have to change the motor connectors to 6.5 mm. I also upgraded the stock servo as I do on all of my cars and boats. No problems at all with the 160 and stock prop but propping up to get more speed the 160 amp will cutout as well I'm going to have to play with different props the get the best setup. I have also ordered a adjustable strut to try as well.

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good info brother.. At one time I was using SSP 3 blade from Dasboata and it cut out like crazy right from the beginning lol.. Maybe Proboat will upgrade from a 3s esc to at least a 160 in the near future.

    • @stevestonacek7128
      @stevestonacek7128 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I read that some people were complaining to horizon about the problem, and they were warrantying the speed control with the 160 Firma Spektrum. I didn't want the hassle and bought the Spektrum. You may also consider the Offshore Electrics 200-amp ESC it's cheaper than the Firma. The motor in the v2 is very power hungry and needs a speed control and batteries that can supply it.

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just submitted for the warranty and let's see what Horizon will do about it first and then I'll look into getting a bigger esc. Thank

  • @VetteWay2Fast
    @VetteWay2Fast 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yea mine ran crazy hot, ended up switching the 120 to a 160 firma. I know the 160 is pricey, but if sending in for warranty, couldn’t hurt to ask for the better esc. I usually only get cut outs if I put to big a prop on going for more speed, even on the 160 due to excessive amp load but a stock prop should not be cutting out

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't ask if they would send me a better esc but they are sending me the stock one which is on backorder. I do plan on upgrading after my warranty expires.

    Did you get this issue fixed? I'm having the same issue, but with SMC 6500 150c battery's but runs fine without cutting off with Spektrum 100c 5500 battery's.

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My issue was the stock esc. I was running a Dasboata speed prop which I believe overloaded it. Eventually I would like to upgrade to a 160a or 180a esc. Imo the stock 120a are to small.

  • @mad_lizard
    @mad_lizard 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Seems like a esc issue or voltage drop when heavy load.
    120 esc is under powered and a dog for that boat. Ose 150 or a 160 spectrum will really wake the boat up.
    Horizon will just send you another 120 and you be down the same road. Ose 150 goes for 59.00$. Great price for a esc. If was me I would swap the 120 out for a bigger esc. Then save the 120 for a 30 in or smaller boat

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trust me brother.. I'm just testing Horizon's warranty and will see what they send me. If they send me a 120 then it will just wait for a diff build and I will purchase a Offshore 150 or a Firma 160 or maybe a 200a for it. Your turn fins makes my v2 turn like a champ on left turns now..! Love your products so far bro.

      We pay big money for these rc's and if something fails they should fix or replace the parts. I own 6 proboat boats and 5 still under warranty. BTW This is the video I'm going to summit to them. I'm not sending them multiple 25 meg bits when they can just click the link. So far no issues with warranty cause they back their products.

      Did you receive your esc yet? Mine just showed up today but unfortunately our ponds are frozen at the moment. Good timing right lol? I'm really thinking about upgrading to a 160-180 amp in all of my 6s proboats and save this one and the others for a smaller build. I know it's not my lipos cause they all work perfect in my ground rc's.

  • @reconrc1787
    @reconrc1787 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah I would of guessed it was your batteries too. Are your connectors on the ESC still good? Maybe they got wet and have some corrosion or something.

      The connection are fine with no corrosion. I use these same lipos in my ground vehicles with no issues. I'm kinda stumped on this but have to put the blame on the esc for now. Horizon is really good about replacing parts so we'll see how it goes when I summit this video to them.

    where is the video, was ist the esc or the Lipos. Is it possible to compare your rc car lipo use withe the 36 V2 use. Not the same motors I suppose and you have not so many experience with RC boats, more with RC Cars and trucks, so what's the conclusion, are you 100% sure that your Lipos weren't the problem? Did you try to use your Lipos with a stronger esc and problems were gone. I won't buy thos boat until I know how many problems Spektrum 120 A brings along. Regards.
