Everyone is talking about old In Flames and Mikael Stanne, and that's great, but they actually said in an interview that the whole project started out on the riffs and work of Niclas Engelin... Let's give this man some apreciation and warmth!!
They're back baby!! Goliaths Disarm Their Davids was my introduction to melodic death metal 21 years ago... been yearning for something like this for a very long time.
It's like starting into 'Colony' with 'Embody the Invisible', all over again. Thank you for the damn huge smile in my face and the joyful feelings. I hope, you enjoy this musical ride as a band as much, as we do listening to it!

How do I explain how perfect this song, this band is!? I absolutely love older In Flames and Mikael’s voice has been so impactful on my music taste and personal vocal style! Jesper and Niclas bringing the riff style we all love too? Let’s be grateful that Gothenburg can bring us such amazing music!
I am 39. I did not get into In Flames circa 92ish/93 cause well.. I was 9 or 10, depending on when thier first album came out. Nor was I a fan of DT. (Obviously) I went through my Nu-Metal phase in 97-02, and was given a couple of compilation cds back then as well. One of which featured Only For the Weak. Hooked. Immediately. So I went though the discography the best the early 2000s internet would allow me an somehow came upon The Jester Race, Whoreacle, AND Lunar Strain. Even more hooked i was, so I continued to follow that band until I heard Jesper had ultimately decided to leave. I've listened to all three of these new songs, and never have I been so happy to hear the music that made me so happy from 96-06. I absolutely cannot wait for this band to tour.
This is the Type of In Flames sound I’ve been dying to hear. It brings such a huge smile to my face. Jesper, you are finally back making the music you love and we can all see it.
This may sound weird, but seeing him in this new band made me so happy for him. The resistance didn’t work out, In Flames went in a path he wasn’t able to pretend to like anymore but he found himself in this and this I feel is what he was longing for. I’m happy for the guy
So damn good. Instantly took me back to Colony/Clayman days. Just wish I could see Jesper playing more lead roles instead of just hanging in the back playing rhythm all the time. Maybe that’s just what he likes, who knows?

Göteborg sound is still alive and that's not a dream🤘Almost all good bands from that area changed their style in some point, but this is pure and flawless perfection for the fans of that genre, cause so many thinked that genre is dead and long gone. Thank you so much 💜👊
I absolutely adore In Flames and all its incarnations, I absolutely adore Dark Tranquility, and I absolutely adore all the other 'Gothenburg' bands (Soilwork, At The Gates, etc.) but this. THIS. This feels like what it was all supposed to be, especially with regards to In Flames and Dark Tranquility, and yes I do know the history and how connected all the members were/are. This feel like what we were supposed to get all the years. This feels like home. I can't wait to hear what the future holds for these gentlemen.

Me and a mate of mine have been hyped for this song since it's announcements. Having loved the first 2 songs this is an absolute banger of a song. Sadly, he is in a coma now due to a car accident. I really hope he wakes up soon so we can jam to this song together. In the meantime i'll listen to this song for the both of us.

I feel the insecurities and pain, bound to the progress of creating this masterpiece. When I heard, Jesper was creating music again with former "In Flames"-members, I was thrilled and scared. Since he has overcome so many obstacles, is he still able to catch my ear? And what shall I say? Yes! He is able to! Like he was never away! Jesper is a genius, the creator of my favourite sound! I was thinking this was some unreleased in flames songs from back in the day before j glanced at my monitor. I'm impressed. Glad to hear Jesper still doing amazing things.
So it's 1998, i've been getting into metal for a few years now as a teenager and I read an article about in flames in a guitar magazine. Jesper was famously quoted as saying he wanted to write extreme music mixed with iron maiden leads/harmonies. The only thing I really knew was thrash and power metal at this point, but I went out and bought colony when it released the next year. Anyways, hearing this song makes me feel 16 again discovering new music. I never thought I'd hear real gothenburg melodeth again in my life.
The clayman, colony sound is nailed with this track. Incredibly nostalgic. A sense of what inflames could sound like if they produced their older albums with modern production techniques!

I love newer In Flames, I love older In Flames and I absolutely love Dark Tranquillity... and I feel The Halo Effect mix all of that... and it seems that by adding those elements, we got something thats different and yet familiar.

So it's 1998, i've been getting into metal for a few years now as a teenager and I read an article about in flames in a guitar magazine. Jesper was famously quoted as saying he wanted to write extreme music mixed with iron maiden leads/harmonies.
The only thing I really knew was thrash and power metal at this point, but I went out and bought colony when it released the next year.
Anyways, hearing this song makes me feel 16 again discovering new music. I never thought I'd hear real gothenburg melodeth again in my life.

The clayman, colony sound is nailed with this track. Incredibly nostalgic. A sense of what inflames could sound like if they produced their older albums with modern production techniques!

I love the Halo from the beginning but can we give one moment for the Mikaal -not only the tone but the lyrics? his lyrics are really TOP LEAGUE . I love DT and got all the the stuff ; but THE is something really touching the heart is some weird way.

this is art, it is the signature of gothenburg, these gentlemen marked my history with their unique style, many imitated them, but what comes out of jesper's guitar and michael's voice is magic, the planets aligned.
