I am no huge train enthusiast, but Midland Mainline was the best ever. I was living in France when MML changed over to EMT, and I was so gutted not to be able to do what you did in this video. I thought about catching a plane back to the UK just to say goodbye to MML, but alas Ryanair wanted £175 return. Nevertheless, I stayed up until 3am (2am UK time) - right until the end - to say my own farewell. EMT has been absolute rubbish so far and, on this form, will never truly replace MML.
@simpletimes222 Half the problem is with the Kettering & Wellingborough services is the introduction of Corby Station. From the minute EMT took over the franchise Corby was planned into the route as part of the terms & conditions. Another big draw back is that St Pancras only has 4 domestic platforms for EMT to use, so service to and from are limited.
Central Trains no longer exists. Some units still run in their livery because they have not yet been repainted, but they are not run for or by Central Trains.
Central could be hit & miss (mostly hit in my experience), but I do miss MML. Had no major problems with EMT or AXC, aside from the distinct impression they are interested in profit, not passengers. Glad someone managed to film the last MML service.
EMT have made services to Wellingborough & Kettering awful only if National Express could get Midland Mainline back, maybe the bad changes on the MML could be undone.
AMEN to that!
They make cross country look professional!

Indeed. Leicester station master did turn up to dispatch the last southbound service, but obviously didn't feel like hanging round until midnight!
