Should have been a much bigger band than they were. Spring Session M is one of the all time great 80's New Wave records. Dale was smoking hot, super cool and ultra talented.
Yeah, I agree...should have had more chart success. They fit in a neat spot between rock and poppy new wave. For me they had a kick ass drummer who played whatever he wanted and his wife was the singer and attractive. Alot of 'artsy' tempo, synth sound, texture stuff. But it sure wasn't bland drivel like alot of new wave.
Back then, no autotune, no voice effects (other than a little reverb), no digital drums, no sequencers, just raw analog human perfection. These days, anyone with the right look and attitude can be a "pop star" with all of the digital music prosthetics available. Missing Persons was the real deal.

Oddly, recently I've been thinking about the most overrated and underrated bands of all time. Missing Persons is at the top of my list. They legitimized New Wave. Spring Session M is a serious top notch effort. Dale is the best female front of all time. She has untouchable vocals. Kinda cutesy, but so strong. The lyrics are forever relevant. She's a complete badass. The only other female that I could compare her to is Wendy O. Williams. They are complete pioneers. Unapologetic genre drivers.
This is what made me aware of Terry Bozzio. Been a huge fan ever since. I had to learn those killer fills he did...the linear fills using double bass, toms, and snare. Nobody else I knew of played like that. His drumming was so cool in that band. Loved it. He was added to a long list of drum artist studies.
What a fuckin kick ass band. I saw them at Knotts berry farm back 1982, I was standing on the left side of Terry like 20 feet away, like where he is now, and remember watching him beat the shit outta those rototoms he's playing and he just was so tight and powerful and they were so loud !! The crowd was outta control with all us crazy teenagers, and of course Dale was Killin it and was lookin so hot. I will never forget that night 38 years ago.
he was actually my favorite Zappa guitarist, and if he hadn't been preoccupied with Duran Duran he just might have toured with Zappa in '88. Zappa mentioned asking him.
@@p_e_t_e -preoccupied bringing them back to relevance. That is how good Warren is. He was so essential that they included him into their induction as a band in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.

They were 30 years ahead of their time, so fucking innovative and fresh sounding!! One of my top 5 favorite bands from that period!! This song rocks the hell out, love it!!!!!!
I always thought this band was stunningly good. One night after one of their performances, I accidentally ran into Dale Bozzio. I got a chance to talk to her for a while. I found her to be a highly intelligent, super nice woman. She did not have to talk to me for so long, but she did anyway and she had wonderful vibrations. Because it was an accidental meeting, I had nothing for her to sign after the show and she knew it. So she signed my T-shirt that I was wearing. She wrote: "Thank You for Being Such a Great Fan, Love Dale Bozzio". When I got home I immediately placed the T-shirt on my living room wall and I never wore it again. She is a kind woman and so talented. I will never forget that.
Missing Persons ep and Spring Session M are two of the greatest things to come out of the early 80s new wave movement. For a short time these guys had it all: perfect look, stellar musicianship and great songs. I know a lot of people compare lady gaga to Dale Bozzio but i wouldn't even give her the benefit of the doubt of even knowing who Missing Persons are. Top notch early 80s music
This band definitely kicked ass back in the day. The so called music industry burned them and buried them into oblivion, thanks to You Tube the new generations can learned that good music is timeless. For me one of the greatest rock progressive bands ever with smarts lyrics and outstanding virtuosity...twenty thumbs up!!
The industry didnt burn them. The drummer was the leader of the band and his ego got out of control. The 1st album was a classic at a time (1982) were their sound was still new and innovative. The 2nd album was more of the same with less energy and the 3rd album was absolute trash at a time when synth-pop was already getting old and tired (1986). The missing persons were a great band but they sadly just got less innovative with time, add to that the fact that they were driven by an egomanaic and it's not a good recipe for success.

I love the drummer so much. (He's so into it he doesn't know his mic is off.)
God I love this group.
Gotta love Terry's delicate attack on the drum kit! Dale looks smokin hot!
She has real mojo rhythm, great voice, figure and great bird.
One of the coolest talented tightest bands I've ever witnessed!..& I've seen MANY..
They were good. Very tight band I'll bet really kicked ass in person. No doubt about it.
You would definitely win that bet
I saw them in 1982 and 1995. One of the few bands I’ve seen that can actually perform live. Terrys drum solo was crazy.
