70s music is better in every way. Even disco. 50s music is better too. The only thing I grant is that it's better than what is played on the radio today, which is even worse.

@@rlodes1 When considering music's golden era, one must focus on the period from the 1950s through the early 2000s. This era stands out as a pinnacle of musical creativity, diversity, and influence. It's interesting to observe how the first 50 years of a genre often emerge as its most impactful and revered period. During these formative decades, foundational styles and iconic artists shape the genre's identity and legacy.
In the context of music, the 1950s to the early 2000s saw a remarkable evolution and fusion of various musical styles. The 1950s introduced rock 'n' roll, jazz, and blues, setting the stage for future innovations. The 1960s and 1970s witnessed the rise of legendary bands like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, alongside the emergence of Motown and the birth of heavy metal and punk rock. The 1980s brought about the explosion of pop, new wave, and hip-hop, while the 1990s saw the dominance of grunge, alternative rock, and the globalization of electronic music.
As we moved into the 21st century, the impact of digital technology and the internet began to reshape the music industry. The early 2000s marked the end of this golden era as traditional methods of music production, distribution, and consumption gave way to new, technology-driven paradigms. While innovation and technological advancements have undoubtedly expanded the possibilities within the music industry, the foundational years from the 1950s to the early 2000s remain unmatched in their cultural and artistic significance.

It will in our hearts until we die. And us the people of the 80's will be gone forever and only media like TH-cam will have videos, photos, etc. of the greatest decade ever.
But those of us that actually lived it... have the 80's nostalgia in our souls.

I see the 1980's as a modern day Renaissance, especially the music, technology and entertainment (TV shows, cartoons, movies, toys, etc.).
Maybe future generations 200 years from now will draw inspiration from that great decade.

But here's a start: (1) She's 26 at the Ritz in NYC with more cameras than Rita Hayworth (2) casually checks in with guitarist at :26 (3) adjusts amp volume & tone at :30 (4) makes eye contact with drummer at :36 like "you're the secret sauce this is it" and nails the vocal intro at :41. And then subverts with lyrics, implications and inuendos so profound it took me 33 years to finally grasp. Just incredible. Her stage presence and gorgeous Hollywood imagery demand attention. The year this song broke out, I was maybe 15 y/o. I traveled to Connecticut from Florida during the summer to work on a farm and put a few sheckles together. I only managed to work about a month and a half before being fired. The morning after I was driven to the airport in Hartford to be flown home. I was carrying my bass guitar with me when out of the blue, SHE walked up to me and told me to loosen my strings so the high altitude wouldnt warp the neck or break the strings on my bass. I flew home to Florida still not realizing who she was until I saw the MTV music video for "Voices Carry" and I was completely floored. It is likely that she saw some skinny kid bass player, who was quite the freak back then, and being the sweet soul she is, took it upon herself to give me some awesome advice. I just wish I had known who she was at the time. Shouldve had her sign my bass. Such a beautiful girl. Love this song.

Cool story, but Aimee's advice was incorrect-pressure changes have no significant effect on stringed instruments or string tension. This is a fallacy. Though sealed containers can be affected by pressure changes (drive through a mountain pass [or down from mountains] with a sealed vessel with air in it [water bottle will do] and open it at the top or bottom, and you'll hear either a release or intake of air). Your bass is not a sealed container, and neither is your case. Also, modern aircraft are pressurized, even in the cargo hold, and cabin altitudes are usually maintained at or less than 8000 feet so that passengers won't experience hypoxia at cruise altitudes.
That being said, I love this Til Tuesday performance.

This song came out in my country while I was in the army just towards the end of training. Then I was posted to the operational area in Angola and never saw civilization again for nine months. Casevaced out of Angola and after some time in hospital I was sent home to a completely different world. My younger sister was out of school, my parents divorced, my older sister and her husband separated. I had 6 weeks of accumulated leave and recovery leave and in that time I became a recluse and tried to catch up on the music scene. This song I must have listened to a thousand times and every time I hear it I'm taken back to that time when I was almost killed in a stupid and unnecessary war and my entire life was changed forever yet I was grateful to still be alive. Today I'm friends with former enemies from Russia, Cuba and Namibia and can go to former battlefields where I lost friends, comrades and even family and sit there thinking how everything could've ended for me all those years ago and how I changed yet this song is one of those that helped me recover. the mental scars are there but I can cope so thank you Till Tuesday. You guys are awesome!

She did a lot of solo work on the soundtrack for the movie Magnolia. Many people feel she was robbed of the Oscar that year. From Wiki: "Save Me" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song;[1] Mann performed it at the 72nd Academy Awards.[2] It lost to "You'll Be in My Heart", by Phil Collins, from the Disney movie Tarzan. By way of introduction to a live performance, Mann has referred to "Save Me" as "the song that lost an Oscar to Phil Collins and his cartoon monkey love song."[3] "Save Me" was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal;[1]

I was raised in a chaotic and violent home. Daily domestic violence was normal. This song is so accurate. Everything is a secret. What happens in the dark always comes to the light. There are no secrets. They think that you won’t remember, but I remember it all. I’ll never forget. I let them know that as well.

    • @stampedetrail2003

That is for sure what gives this song its inspiration and power. It is certainly about child abuse. Kind of couched in a side-chick motif.

    • @whttrails
      @whttrails 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@stampedetrail2003 Any abuse is terrible. In my family one of the women was abused by a boyfriend. My brother, 16 at the time, found out and told this 32 yr old guy bigger than him to get his things and leave. The guy said, you can't tell me what to do. My brother repeated, leave or I'll kick the sh out of you. The guy went to shove him and my brother clocked him twice and he was down on his knees. The guy was told to go on the porch and wait for a taxi to pick him up. I put his things in a box and brought them to him. I hand it to him and he looks at me and says in an angry tone "I'll never forget what your brother did to me tonight". I looked at him standing there in the moonlight blood all over his shirt and fresh blood dripping from his brow and I said, "yeah, I don't think you will".
We've learned in our family to protect the women. Any guy that comes into the family gets a very warm welcome and a message that you've made "her" very happy and that's awesome. We hope you never have troubles but if you do speak to us and maybe we can help, don't be afraid to ask for help, were her to help. That being said, this woman is very special to us and she has lots of support so don't ever try to hurt her or you will be dealing with etc etc.
Including the above, only one other learned the hard way.
