  • Hello everyone.
    Another review, another Mopar.
    I've been waiting for this one for a while, in fact, I had it pre-ordered for more than a year. Both the plum crazy (already reviewed) and this one took their sweet time to come out.
    The front fascia is a real love/hate thing and personally I love it. But how does this model fare? Did it live to my expectations?
    Check the review to see if I like it and how I rated it.
    (or cheat and go to the final minute of the video! HAHAHA)

    I pulled the trigger and just bought this one from EBay - seller was selling it, new, for $129, so I had to buy it at that price! It was still plastic wrapped like yours and everything, so I'm very happy with it! The only issue was also the same as yours, with one of the hood pins under the car. No scratches or anything, which is great, so I just put the hood pin back into the diecast (friction fit), so it's all good. Thanks for your videos, man, because you're a great help to the model/diecast community! 😁

      This is an excellent buy at retail even with its faults but even better at that lower price! Glad you got the chance to get one of these. And thank you for your kind words! I started this channel with that purpose in mind, help me buyers like me make an informed decision. 😊💪 Thanks!

    Good review as always.
    They need to release some R/Ts as well. Also R/T convertibles. Lots of variations can be made from this mold. 383, 440 and 440 Six Packs. Hopefully they have the other hood tooled up. I'd really like to see a plain jane 383 powered Super Bee with a bench seat interior. Not every car was a Hemi. The 70 Plymouths were made as Road Runners, GTXs hardtops and convertibles. Should do the same with the Coronet.

    • @DiecastNewb
      @DiecastNewb  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree!! There are some Road Legends releases of the Coronet which look great for the price and are an alternative. Cheaper materials but they actually look decent. Have a messed up green version of it but looking for another. Might review in the future if/ when I get it. Thanks!!

    The stickers used on the gauges drives me crazy. No matter how good the paint and body might look, its a non purchase for me. Acme seems to be the biggest offender. Love your reviews. Thorough and professional.

      That C stripe looks just as great. The interior color is also good looking. Yeah, the Plymouth hubcaps is weird. About heater hoses, are they missing from the plum crazy release as well? Might need to compare both. Thanks for watching and commenting! 💪🏽

    Everywhere I looked these guys are all swiped up. Lol! You got one of the lower numbers for sure. Sorry to see the small problems. If the quality control could be a BIT better, someone would’ve noticed the hub cap and hood pins. Again, for the price you pay for these things….
    On another note, little bird told me I’m getting the gold Hemi Barracuda track pack for my bday! I’m keeping my fingers crossed there’s no issues.

    • @DiecastNewb
      @DiecastNewb  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, small issues but for almost $200, it's kind of weak. Still, it is a great model.
      Barracudas are usually pretty well packed and protected and they don't have many issues that I've seen. So it should be a great one for the collection!!

    Great review! That is frustrating that your model still had issues with the hood pins. I was really happy with the even paint coloring and everything matching (valence and hood scoops). I wish that they would have given us Dodge hub caps instead of Plymouth hub caps. Would you be able to contact Acme and try to get a replacement hub cap since the one is missing the magnet?

    • @DiecastNewb
      @DiecastNewb  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you my friend. Agree! I was waiting to see if this one suffered the same paint fate so I'm glad it didn't. I will be sending an email to Acme to check if they have spares. I'm not holding my breath though. But I'll also contact the seller as well (since they are a "big" outfit). I'll post again if lucky.

    Almost 200 bucks...expensive just like the real thing. I always wished to time travel to the early seventies too see all these legendary rides just cruising on the streets like it's normal 😄. In a way I am sad for all the people that will never be able to get a real old muscle car. I mean when a little boy dreams about owning a Lamborghini Countach, he turns 7 years of age and quickly realizes that there’s no chance in hell to own a Countach one day. But us fans of old american iron? Super Bee, Torino, Javelin, Nova, GTO are nothing when compared to the price of a Countach, yet still imposible to buy for so many. Diecast cars like this Super Bee are then at least something cool to look at and maybe keep the dream alive. You never know 😉

      I did grow up then. My small town neighborhood had plenty of them. Guy across the street from had several including a 71 Charger R/T and a 70 Chevelle SS 454 WS6. Not all at once, mind you. One of his friends parked a Lime green 70 Road Runner in front of our house and another one had a black 67 Corvette convertible with a 427 Turbo Jet. Down the street was a butterscotch Cuda 340 Convertible with a Shaker hood and black billboards. My favorite lived around the corner from me, a 1971 Plymouth GTX, In-Violet, 440+6 white interior and vinyl top. Possibly the best looking car I have ever seen. I did dream of owning those cars as a 10 year old back then. You are right, you never know. While I don't have a Charger, Cuda or Road Runner I do have a 70 Duster 340, so dreams can come true.

    • @cheekydemon6131
      @cheekydemon6131 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dustdevl3404 All the cars you named in just one small town neighborhood...that's what I meant. It's all just a beautiful memory for you now, but you lived it. Modern times have a lot of advantages, but the old times were more "real"? As much as modern technologies connect us, they also as much disconnect us. Watching old movies and recordings it's like the culture in the US was centered about cars so much and where there are cars, there are people. People and friends meeting up together with cars to have fun. I just love the designs of the old US cars so much. Even driving somewhere to get groceries must have been a nice moment. Your own car itself plus all the other you've seen on the road. When I see young people now nobody cares about cars, not even guys. Here in Europe most cars now are just a method of transport. But back then in the US? It was a life style, it was art, it was self expression, it was something to have fun with and yes for transport too. I don't see into the future, but the american 50s, 60s and very early 70s will most likely forever be the best automobile era of all times. True freedom of design, power, cool features and a healthy competition.
      Did americans back then realized how lucky they are to live through it? I don't know, but us people born on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain did. When I watched as a kid pirated american movies on VHS tapes, I was blown away. The endless variety of cars, color combinations, engine sizes, emblems, stripes, interior designs, rear light designs, fins etc., that was like the exact opposite of the soviet era cars, but to the extreme!! So much character and soul in two tonnes of steel and it was everywhere in the US. From a McDonald's parking lot in Mississippi to a church in Idaho thousands of miles away. Even the most basic cars were very decent to look at, but quite many people were able to buy more than that, isn't that really awesome!? This is why I believe that this was the best era.
      As for your '70 Duster 340 I totally get why you're happy with it. I have a '72 Demon 340 and let's just say I wouldn't trade it for the world. Sure, it's not a big name car like the Charger, Mustang, Road Runner and other famous icons, but it has it's own magic and it's extremely rare. A few other people here in Europe have a '72 Demon 340 too, but you just never see it on the road. You're lucky too see an old Mustang every now and then, but a '72 Demon 340? Zero chance. Dusters are pretty damn rare too...I've seen one like 15 years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if there are european countries with no Dusters and Demons at all. So yeah, I am really grateful that I have one. It makes me humble and also pushes me to get up and keep walking when I have a bad day at work or something. Before I even open the garage door, I get weak in the knees, I get goosebumps and my pulse goes quicker...thanks to my own red cheeky Demon!! And for a ride like this I gotta work and face all challenges that life throws at me. It's not easy at all to own a classic muscle car these days so I'll cherish mine forever.

      @DiecastNewb  ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely understand your feeling. I'm actually not a car guy at all (i.e. can't even change a tire without looking for the manual LOL) but I just love the designs, aesthetics, feels of these 60s and 70s American Muscle. Great post my friend! 💪

      @@cheekydemon6131 Likewise my Duster. I forgot to mention the Nadeau's 67 Dodge Coronet 500 just down the street. It was red with black vinyl and a 383. Beautiful car. My dad had a 71 Chrysler 300 4 door hardtop. It had a 440 under the hood. That's what I learned to drive in. He always said that it was the best car he ever owned.

    Interesting, why the motor details here are sharper than on ACME 1/18 Plymouth Hemi Cuda? The motors seem to have the very same base, but Hemi Cuda's one is like lacking sharpness (as if it was produced from unfocused photos), and this one is sharp.

    • @DiecastNewb
      @DiecastNewb  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the main difference is the color and size of components and even hood. For example, the Super Bee is a "closed hood" (no shaker) and valve covers have different colors, etc. While the HemiCuda is mostly black, not too much contrast plus the filter is huge, etc. But yes, the Super Bee does look better detailed. Might be a tooling issue as well since Acme doesn't own the parts from Greenlight/GMP.
