Unboxing and Review: 1970 Dodge Challenger PTC (Pro Touring) 392 Hemi diecast by YCID in 1/18 scale
Hello.
Recently I went over my 1970 Chevy Chevelle Pro Touring release and I found it a really cool car. I've gotten a few 197x from Acme/YCID but wanted this Pro Touring release because of what's under the hood!
Is this latest release a good acquisition?

Pretty clear I love muscle cars and although, as I've mentioned numerous times, I prefer 60's and 70's Mopars, can't deny Ford/Shelby's have killer releases. This is one of them. Shelby's designs, especially their front fascias, have always fascinated me. Their aggressive look is always excellent and the eye-catching color of this one gained my attention. Also, seemed like nice tooling and conv...

    So, I have been busy and didn't have time to comment on this, thanks as always for the review. Little tidbit about the color. In my 25 years in this industry, I have made two custom painted Mustangs (Black Beauty I and Black Beauty II) for my personal collection, each with my own custom mixed black metallic. Basically, black is 5-6 pearl colors added so under sunlight you can see them sparkle. This however was my first production model with that color. I mixed this color in house to my liking then sent a couple spray out cards (metal cards with the color and clear sprayed on them) to Acme so they could match it and they did. Sadly, like my original 2 Mustangs you cannot really enjoy the color unless you're under direct sun. Also, this is the first production 70/71 diecast Challenger with the late model 392 Hemi in it. I had to make a sample to show Acme who then forwarded that information to the factory for them to replicate. Greenlight released the Hwy61 tooled 71 Cuda, Graveyard Carz, SEMA car a few years agowith this engine but Acme who now controls this tooling didn't think the engine would fit in the Challenger, which I knew it would. Note on the wheels, this car was planned with my YCID, 18inch Rally Wheels but then I couldn't get the multi brand dog dish wheels made on their own without having to make 1000 sets, which is too many in this market. I negotiated to have them made for this run, then another 500 sets for retail which will come in primer white for easy repainted for modders. The wheels are awesome though hard to tell on a black/black wheel car.

    Hello. Thanks for this video. Your reviews are always very detailed and in the right length. So I can see, if the car model is something interesting for me or not. A very nice Dodge Challenger in this case (the engine looks amazing). I wish the front grill has more details like a GMP model or my 1:18 ACME 1970 Pontiac GTO Moonlight Goat. Yesterday I found on EBAY the 1:18 Auto World 1970 Dodge Charger R/T "HEMI" from 2013 in black. I bought this Auto World model now (new). The Auto World Charger models which based on the ERTL Authentics are very detailed and nice muscle cars. I was searching for the 1:18 Greenlight 1968 Dodge Charger in black from the movie bullitt, but this model is very expensive now in Germany (389 euros). So this Auto World Charger from 1970 is a good compromise for me. I love the interior (dashbord, speedometer, ....) and details on the 1970 Charger from Auto World. Best regards Chris

      @DiecastNewb 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I wouldn't spend more than $100 on a Greenlight model! Almost 400 euros is nuts. So yeah, keep looking for older AWs instead! 💪💪 And thanks!

      @chrisflorian4308 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DiecastNewb No problem. Thanks for your opinion. Nearly 400 euros is much much to expensive for this model. You are right. These older AW models/ERTL Authentics are really nice. The interior on this 1:18 Auto World 1970 Dodge Charger from 2013 looks aweseome. Yesterday I found here in Germany a special offer for the 1:18 ACME 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS/6 in grey with black stripes and red interior. New and 20% off the regular prize (only in this week). At the moment I have at home enough space, because I sold again some older and less detail die cast models. So I bought this 1:18 ACME Chevelle. The engine bay and everything under the car (brakelines,...) looks awesome on this model (I have seen some photos and videos). Have an awesome day 🙂

    Hello. My comment for your support. Now I can give you a short review on the 1:18 ACME 1970 Pontiac GTO "Moonlight Goat" (like I promised). Yesterday I received this muscle car. It is so far my best and most detailed 1:18 ACME muscle car (for sure). Limited to 564. The engine bay, the brake lines, the functional suspension with also "working" shock absorbers on the rear axel, a radiator grill detailed as on the GMP models, everything fits perfect (doors, hood,...),...... The black paint job looks so mean and beautiful. The only "bad thing" is the black paint, because of finger prints and dust. This Pontiac is worth every cent in my opinion. This model is much better as I expected it. Best regards Chris from Germany

      @@DiecastNewb Hello again. Thanks. An awesome job from ACME this Pontiac. Compared to the best GMP model, this Pontiac only don't have a rotating driveshaft and no working windows like on the 1:18 GMP 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee Hemi in go mango. But from the upside inside the door (driver side and co-driver side) you can see the acyrl window inside. It is like both windows are lowered down. Very nice detail. I am not an expert, but for me this Pontiac model has the 400ci-V8 with Ram Air IV inside the hood. On the package is a notice, that it is an 455ci!?!? I can be wrong. Have an awesome day :)

I bought this one on EBAY from a seller in Poland (new). Everything worked fine. This model is from 2016 (50 years Dodge Charger from 1966 to 2016). Number 655 from 1002 (limited). This Auto World Charger has all the amazing details: seatbelts, working driveshaft, funktional suspension, a highly detailed and wired engine,...... I am really happy with this model. Last time we talked about Auto World/ERTL authentics. Today I bought another 1:18 Auto World Charger. My new one is a 1:18 Auto World 1971 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Six Pack in gold/black (AMM1086). The difference on this one compared to the blue one: - wheels in chrome - different colour (gold and black) - different engine (440 Six Pack) - different hood (no air grabber) - different front with more chrome and the pop-up headlights - interior in black I only found this one to buy. Hello. You have an amazing collection of muscle car models !!! This again a nice Pontiac. Maybe I will buy in the next days the 1:18 ACME 1970 Pontiac GTO Coupe "moonlight goat" in black. This ACME modl comes really close to the amazing details of a GMP muscle car model: a functional suspension, a high detailed radiator grille (not a complete plastic part),..... This 1970 Pontiac GTO looks really badass in black. One of the most detailed ACME models I know. Best regards Chris from Germany

      Thank you. And yeah, I actually try to avoid having black cars because they are usually fingerprint magnets and for some reason, at least where I live, they seem to deteriorate faster. But yeah, that release looks cool and I think it comes with removable dog caps for the wheels.

I also own the 1:18 GMP 1970 Dodge Coronet in Mango orange. Is it only me or have the GMP models a little bit more details compared to the ACME models? The quality of these has really tanked with newer releases while prices went up.. it's kinda shocking. I have the white T-Top TTA one from the original release in 2009 to compare to and it's got a much cleaner finish on the paint and parts, a fully carpeted interior + doors, clear lensed sidemarkers and front turn signals, seat belts that actually secure on the headliner rather than loop around the seat.. decals on the wheel hubs, THE TURBOCHARGER, a two tone underbody, painted engine bay and components, more labels and stickers, smooth operating hatch that stays open, color matched hatch panel (tan, not black).. t-top straps that feed into slots on trunk pan and rear panel rather than just being hastily glued down.. much more cleanly applied decals, stickers and paint in interior.. one thing they did however improve on with the newer releases is the windshield with its black border. The original is completely clear with visible pegs.

      @@DiecastNewb Greenlight’s QC standards are very low nowadays, agreed.. older releases - if you can find them decently priced - are definitely the way to go. The TTA I got cost €49 in 2009 and is qualitatively on par with €250 GMPs today. Idk what’s happened with all these modelling brands. It all used to be so much better years ago!

    This model is quite expensive now and there are not many for sale, would you say it’s worth it to get one. I do love the car and it’s (what I can find) the only other brand besides minichamps that’s done a normal M1. I’ve also been wanting to expand into other brands in my collection like norev and sun star for example as most of my collection as of now is hotwheels and HW elite, Bburago and maisto. while this model is expensive I feel it’s worth it as it’s well enough captured and is a clean model. Just want to know your thoughts though

      I do think it's a nice looking model. Not sure what the price is right now though but if it's higher than $150 or more, I'd probably think about it... Not because it's not good, but because I personally hate paying premium prices lol. Anyway, if you like it, go for it. If you are coming from Maisto, Bburago, etc, you are going to see the jump in quality on interiors, details and paint job. Good luck and enjoy!

      @@DiecastNewb Thanks, it's a beautiful version of this model. I asked because I just bought the same model in the Yellow new in the box for $41, $51 with shipping and tax. I think it's just a regular American Muscle, but the details are just a bit better than on some of them. @@DiecastNewb As a collector I'm not a "completist" if you will, but I love these affordable Cuda's and Mopar cars and I reckon I'll eventually get four or five of the most colorful versions. I've got a cool Cuda in Pink Panther, that's an American Muscle Elite Edition so it's like middle class quality. And yours in Yellow. But I could see myself (if they're cheap) adding an Orang, Lime Green and definitely a Plum Crazy purple. I'm trying to decide what level to enter into for this car, I'm like you in that I like a blend of affordable models and some higher end stuff. I like a nice blend if I think the cheaper car truly represents a great value and it looks nice on display. The cheaper a model is the easier it is to forgive flaws and imperfections. This still represents a decent upgrade in details over the regular American Muscle ERTL, the wheels show the difference the most. Well I'll think on it, thanks for the very informative video, I'm a seeker so thanks.

    • @DiecastNewb
      @DiecastNewb หลายเดือนก่อน

      Although this is an older Ertl model and not a recently released Acme, the color and overall look is excellent!! I guess it depends on which color combination you are looking for and how comfortable you feel with flaws because new or old, they will for sure have some but as you say, you'd forgive it easier on a budget model. My opinion, Acme releases are very good but not perfect, Ertl Cudas look good but not detailed enough (engine bay, interiors). But if you like it, go for it! Good luck. And stay tuned for a couple more Cuda reviews coming.
