    I know this is an old video, but for those who are interested, the TUx is capable of doing almost everything: two up long distance touring (Airhawk cushions required!), forest road adventuring, commuting, and just exploring. She works best if you let her pick the pace, as trying to push her too fast is just not fun. Sit back, take in the scenery, enjoy the ride! But as long as you don’t mind hanging out in the slow lane she’s fine. She will run all day long at 60mph, sipping gas at 80 mpg while doing so. I have had mine for over a decade, and she is still going strong, without ever needing anything more than easy maintenance. She still has her original chain after40,000 miles!

    I have a 2015 tu250x bought new. I have been ridding since 1957. I'm 77 years old and still ridding and smiling. My longest trip on it was 320 miles in a day from charleston sc to Wilmington nc to charleston. Great ride. I have an air hawk seat cover and small windshield.

      That's amazing! I hope I'm riding when I'm in my 70s. I love this bike. I did a ride here in TX that was about 300 miles, then the next day did the 300 miles back home and I wish I had an air hawk seat cover because I was hurting. But it was a fun rides, and did it all on the highway. The tu 250x really impressed me.

      @freshly squeezed i think this bike with an air cooled version of the DRZ400 engine would be brilliant, its another pretty good reliable engine that would perk up this bike just nicely while still maintaining respectable gas mileage for a daily commuter.

    Good video brother! I've had my 2009 tux for a few years now and I love it. I made a fun and light cafe out of her with the 16/41 gear set up. I like to ride over 60 so the 16/41 really makes that riding much more comfortable, and really boosts the gas mileage ;). Happy trails!

    • @marcoschwitau

    Nice to see someone else who can appreciate a tiddler. There's something fun about having just what you need, and having such a light, flickable bike. For mods, I think I'd go wit a flyscreen that will get some wind off your chest, but not right onto your face. That gets noisy. Then, hand guards, to open up the seasons you can ride in a little. (thought you seem to be in a warm climate, having made this video in February...) Mirror extenders, seems like a good idea too. I'd probably just leave the 15T front sprocket on, so you don't lose acceleration, unless you're on the highway a LOT. Just take it easy at 65 or so. Doesn't really make a difference in how fast you get somewhere, unless you're riding for hours and hours. Get a tank bag or backpack for everyday riding and a tail bag for touring. Skip the saddlebags. They stick out the sides and look pretty dumb.
    How about an update?

    I just laid down a deposit on this same bike, a 2011 with 4000 miles. I am returning rider having not ridden for over 40 years so I needed something basic and I believe this will be great. Just completed the basic MSF class. Not planning on hitting the freeways anytime soon...just around town and an empty parking lot to practice. Thanks for posting this video.

      MarcoDontYouKnow last month I traded in my vanvan with 5000 miles for a 2013 TU250X with only one thousand miles. The TU was 2500. and I got $2,200 for my trade so I paid only 300 bucks. Love this motorcycle. One question. It seems when I'm in 4th gear it takes forever to find the right RPMs to get into fifth, just feels like it's always not yet ready for shifting so I have to get all stressed out in my body and finally do the shift which is usually around 45 to 50 miles per hour. It still has the 15 tooth front sprocket.. I appreciate your thoughts on this changing from 4th to 5th. Thanks.

    Got a 2013 TU250x a few months ago. My first bike. Love it, but the one thing that bothers me is how quickly I have to shirt from 1st to 2nd, and even 2nd to 3rd. I know that switching to a 16t front sprocket would help this slightly, but haven't done that. Do you find that you are shifting all the time as well, especially at the lower speeds?

    • @marcoschwitau
      @marcoschwitau  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Zachary Norman yeah man, I feel your pain. Its so you can get a fast take off but yes I do constantly shift at lower speeds. Doesn't bother me anymore though. I even bought the 16 tooth sprocket but never installed it because Its fine how it is. But I might switch it in the future just out of curiosity. So far I love the bike! Ride safe man!
