Great video, very helpful. Had a plumber replace my disposal 8 years ago. This time I decided to do it myself. Video really helped. Only gotcha I had was the 9:36 mark. Had a heck of time getting the knockout to come loose. But other than that it was way easy. Saved money ordering the disposal on Amazon and saved on labor as well. Thanks!
Jay you saved me hundreds! I thought since my dryer is 14 years old I would not call a repairman and just buy a new once since it is nearly Black Friday. The deals out there are ok, but the cost is still hundreds of dollars. I finally thought, well, what would Jay do if he came over. Well, easy peasy, you told me to check my door latch and less than $6 later is fixed. Gives me more time to save for the new set one day, since they are aging. I will find myself a sale one day that I like and be able to sell this set *still running* to pay for part of it. Thanks!
I love to hear that!! 🙂 Great that you were able to get the dryer fixed, may it run another 10 years problem-free for you! Thanks for sharing fix success story. 👍👍
You need to change your channel to "Word of Good Advice TV"! 😁 @ 9:27 glad you caught it! This is a VERY IMPORTANT step if you have a dishwasher, I recommend that this be the first step to do before putting your disposal back in place, because it is easier to get the knockout plug out of the disposal, just my $0.02, still a good catch on your part! Love watching your videos, keep up the good work!
Lol thank you! Yes! I was going to talk about that earlier in the video and completely forgot about it until I was already putting the dishwasher hose on. 🤦♂️ I've been on plenty of service calls where the dishwasher stopped draining after they replaced the garbage disposal and yet here I am, almost forgot it myself. 😅
Good morning Jay, interesting video. I have never actually torn the case off of a garbage disposal. However, my thinking is that another place that it could be leaking would be the shaft seal that drives that cutting plate, with the two cutters mounted opposite of each other.
Good morning sir! Good to see you. I agree! That could be where it was leaking too. There was so much crud build up around the shaft that I assumed not much water could get past that. 😄 But while it spins, I'm sure it find any cracks and crevices it can to seep out of.
The "unjamming" hex key that is included in the box is designed to rotate the securing ring so you don't bend your screwdriver. Use it, then KEEP IT for jams.
I bet the police dept. felt like ''Crap'' after the robbery I took my disposal out all together & replaced it with regular sink drain cause we hardly ever used it & it was old as well ... Great vid as usual ... Aloha my friend
Haha yeah, as I was looking for plumbing jokes I came across many crappy ones. 😂 Oh that's smart too! If you dont use it, just get rid of it. One less potential problem. Thank you for regularly stopping by my friend. I appreciate you! May God bless you and yours, have a fantastic new week! Aloha from Hawaii 🌴🌴
Galvanized steel interior. Absolutely blew my mind when I found that out. No one should be using this model unless current ibe is broken and you're selling the property.
Thanks …. Great video… have you ever replaced a bathroom fan ?….. would you recommend same brand as original one that’s in …. Or if you wanna upgrade to a more powerful one ….. I know there’s different speeds
I've only worked with bathroom fans a few times so I'm not sure.. But those things usually last a very long time don't they? Meaning that the one you have in there is probably pretty old. There's a good chance you won't be able to find the same one. I'm thinking that as long as the specs and measurements line up, any brand would be fine.
If you buy a stainless steel one you don't have the rust problem and they are built better, with longer warranty. But You have to weight the difference in price, because they are 2-3 times more expensive.
Hello 👋 ✌🏻 Jay good to see you buddy somehow this notification got past me. I hope you and your family are doing well 🙏. I think 🤔 I told you my uncle passed away i don't remember but he passed away the nineteenth of November. There's been so many things been happening none good for sure I have been having a lot of trouble with my left leg im thinking the artery that goes down my leg may be getting clogged up i hope not but it has been so cold here until today it got in the forties and tomorrow going to be in the fifties 🎉I can't wait. Tell everyone I said hello 👋 🙂 buddy and I love you all very much you feel like family to me to be honest. I saw another video i missed i got to watch..have i got a story for you my brother's furnace went out last week he has a gas furnace and the electric igniter went out so anyway before i knew what happened he called me and I was on my way down there and when I got there he had figured it out because he was watching a video of yours talking about the different kind of igniters and I got tickled seeing him watching your videos and he figured out what was wrong with it watching your video i told him to comment on it but he isn't one to leave comments but he was right it was the igniter and you showed him how to check it out with the electric continuity tester and I took the old one out and he ordered one and it came in yesterday and I went down and fixed it they were glad because they had to go buy a kerosene heater and they were using electric heaters to stay warm he said to tell you thanks and you are a very smart man. I hope this makes your day like it did mine i was swelling with pride because you told him on the video how to check it and see..
Hey David!! Just saw your comment. Yeah, we know TH-cam does whatever it wants by now right? Family and I are doing great! My condolences about your uncle, I am sure he will be missed! I hope your leg will feel better soon too! (just in case you actually try any of these suggested things, I had a natural remedy come to mind as I read about your leg, here it is) If it really is a blood clot, try intaking half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper daily, flushing it down with a glass of water. It's a natural blood thinner and can even stop a heart attack. Doing this for a few weeks would definitely cleanse your blood. I sure don't miss the cold weather and am happy for you that you'll be getting a little break from it but winter is just starting isn't it? So brace yourself my friend! I really did enjoy the story about your brother's furnace! 😄 What a coincidence that he ended up on my video and was able to figure out the problem before you even arrived. I'm glad that my videos are helping people like your brother diagnose and fix their own equipment! I enjoy reading comments and stories like this so thank you for taking the time to share it. May God bless you for all the help you provide to others as well! Stay strong David, stay warm, and have an amazing new week! Sending love, sunshine, and aloha from Hawaii! ♥☀🌴

I've changed dozens of these and I was looking through the comments to see if someone had already mentioned that step.
Lol thank you! Yes! You're welcome! I receive. May God bless you and yours as well!

Oh that's a good point! Didn't think to use it on the securing ring. Thanks for mentioning it. (Though my new box was missing the hex key either way)

It is pretty wild. From what I could tell, the old disposal was not that old either.
Great video

Yes, thank you for pointing that out. I was going for ease of install but really a stainless steel disposal is the way to go. 👍
Is that a camouflage kitchen floor?
Yeah 😄

junk unit not stainless lasts a few years vs 20+, $99 vs $200
It's no wonder it only has a 2 year warranty. I wonder how long the stainless steel disposals actually last.
@@WordofAdviceTV I get 15-20 years, depends on how much bleach.
Oh wow, well then that's an obvious choice. Next time I'll be getting a stainless steel one. Thank you for mentioning that!
😱😱🤔🫥
