    I'm a woman who, despite having corrective surgery a decade ago, struggled with adhesions and severe back pain ever since being diagnosed with scoliosis as a teenager. It was said to avoid putting any stress on my back, so I always assumed this was my default, to live a life that compromised around the pain, not being able to walk around for more than an hour at a time indefinitely. Several months ago, in a completely disconnected effort to lose weight and build a better physique, I discovered weightlifting. I'm grateful I came across your channel early enough to kick some of the bad habits and misinformation on my approach, because just last week--after incorporating an evening habit of working on my mobility each night, focusing on compound movements in the gym, and dialing in on my form and technique--I felt my back again for the first time in years doing a barbell row. It was enough of a shock I cried in my car afterwards at the gym parking lot lol. I walk further, lift heavier, and sleep so much better than I ever have.
    I've never felt more empowered. I didn't realize the power to transform my life and wellness already rested within me the entire time. What started as a journey for aesthetics has transformed into a journey of improved stability, mental wellness, and overall quality of life. Thank you so much for creating this channel, you're changing so many lives every day!!

Macros? How can I or where can I find out how many macros to eat ? Do these guys have a “ guide” or etc? I need to loose 50lbs. Thanks for any advice.

      @@gladius731971 I use the MyFitnessPal App to track all my calories. I eat in a calorie deficit for my current height and weight. I found my macros breakdown online. I now weight 140 so I eat 135 grams of protein everyday, 135 grams of carbs, and 47 grams of fat. It totals to 1503 calories everyday for my deficit. I want to lose another 10 if I can but honestly I am body recomping so much that the scale still says 140 but my smaller clothes are getting baggie on me. I am 45 and in the best shape of my life

    Mindpump has literally changed my relationship with eating and working out. I went from cutting calories and cardio, to upping my protein and lifting consistently. In one year I lost 10 lbs but everyone thinks I lost 25-30! Dexa scan shows 11.5% body fat and I eat a ton, and don’t feel like I’m dieting. If you’re reading this, follow the advice they give! It works, and you don’t feel like you’re “dieting”!

    In regards to the cannabis conversation, I had a convo with a friend a while ago and we made sense out of it where if you do get the munchies and resist it, it has a more positive effect since you're not aimlessly eating. Not only that, but if you are someone whom doesn't become more anxious, you're not in a state of stress so you're in a state of calmness and the body can focus on regulating itself. I've also mixed it into my post workout shakes or meals too, and with great results. If you time it properly, you can at least have a healthy protein dense meal in conjunction

    I had an incident happen not long ago where I was driving up a road and a man came up beside me and was cussing me out. I honestly could not figure out why, I had pulled out and was pretty sure the road was clear so the only thing I could guess was maybe he had come up on me faster than I realized and I had caused him to have to slow down? anyways we were on a 3 lane road, he was on the far right and I was on the far left, I let him get ahead of me a little bit just to create some distance after he had harrased me for a quarter mile and at a red light. After creating some distance I merged into the middle lane but when he saw that I had merged he purposely slowed down so that he could cut into my lane and he forced me to swerve into the lane I had just come from and it was a very obvious swerve he had done and then he turned into a neighborhood. It scared me because had there been a car beside me in the far left lane, I would've hit it. My husband bought me a dash cam and it's been on my dashboard ever since! I hope your sister is ok! I just finished my CCW course so I can carry.

    1:05:50 yup, supercompensation. Just did this with my client. Did a few blocks where we really pushed, now training with less volume, and he is now maintaining at the calories. He first started his book at, and visually I can see that he’s put on more muscle since we switched programming. Definitely an underrated approach/technique. I wondered about the first callers goal, and I had a sneaking suspicion. He was worried about body, fat coming on, 1st is losing strength or size. Glad you guys touched on supercompensation.

    Love the show , I have learned a lot in the short time since I found your channel. I do agree with the logic behind some of your “controversial” topics but I feel unless you have experienced some of the hardships of a marginalized group you cannot fully understand them. There wouldn’t have been a need for Affirmative Action if colleges and businesses weren’t excluding African Americans. Affirmative Action was an active effort to improve employment or educational opportunities for members of minority groups and for WOMEN. There are many democratic that watch and love your show. I LOVE your podcast and your fun personalities and discussions! Knowing the importance of muscle and managing to get through perimenopause by getting into the best shape of my life at 49, I’m now feeling devastated about how much muscle I’ve been losing , now that I’m 52. My training has had to change due to chronic groin/adductor pain and overall joint/ligament pain. A year ago I was barbell deadlifting 210, squatting 185, benching 115, OH pressing 85lbs and was able to do sets of 8 full body weight pull-ups. I felt so strong and confident. I’m scheduled to see a rheumatologist about my hyper mobility, and I’ve seen a sports Physical Therapist and I do the exercises prescribed, which does still include a form of Bulgarians, glute bridges,etc., but my glutes are like a pancake now. I also have left side rib flare, ATP, scapular winging and a frozen shoulder for years. I’m still training as much as I can, trying to keep up on what I can. I get 10-15K steps in daily and my calls are at 2100, with at least 150 grams protein. Per InBody scans I was 14%body fat and was the leanest in my life at 118 lbs/5’4. I’m 125 now, no big deal, but body comp isn’t the same. Please! What can I do to get more muscle back on and feel like the bada$$ I was a year ago? Although my upper body mobility is good, no problems pressing and lifting, my traps tend to take over on many exercises and my SA, Teres major/minor seem to have lost muscle tone….

    Absolutely love this message and it’s SO incredibly necessary, as it’s a message that hasn’t seen the light of day yet, and now there’s studies to back it up.
    I’m 168, 5’7 and female. I eat around 2300,2400 cals. I got down to 140 for a figure show, and I felt like crap. Approaching 170, I still see some definition, but more importantly, I’m better at utilizing carbs and I’ve added ~70lb to my back squat since April!
    Never was obsessed w being super skinny as I always had an athletic body type and bigger bone structure, but Powerlifting training has helped me even more w this, and I also notice it’s a much better, successful, and gosh a much more EMPOWERING / MOTIVATING for my CLIENTS to approach fitness and then therefore, fat loss.

      damn lol like 173, 6'2, 18 year old man and train fairly intense througout the week, and thats how much i eat. I should prolly up my cals lol

    • @AnaGfit23
      @AnaGfit23 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zanerrr To be fair, I’m eating that for my powerlifting performance, it’s not my maintenance, it’s a slight surplus. Small Cutting cals are 2200, 2150, a full 500 calorie cut would be a little under 2k. For my figure show though, I did lose most of my 25lb eating around 1963 🤷🏻‍♀️ I came from being a skinny female that wanted curves, so I had never dieted once before the show, just maintained and bulked.
      I think it’s really valuable to do what I call w my clients “metabolic building” phases. Basically, a time where you focus on slowly over time gradually increasing your calories. Technically it’s a reverse diet, but you don’t have to have come from an extreme diet or cutting phase to do it, you could just be more primed for a reverse if your are coming from a cut. I did it over the course of my decade lifting though without many dieting phases, just gradually built muscle and therefore my maintenance calories kept increasing.
      I am a CPT and online coach and I have a bodybuilder client that cut at 2000s-high 1800s for a show, and is now 198-200lb fairly lean bulking at 3500, and now currently maintaining his weight at 3200 before we go into another mass gaining phase. My goal is to get him eating 4k. He’s also increase his deadlift from 335 w straps, to 395 (now probs 400) so by 60lb since April when he started working w me, w no lifting straps. His strength and muscular density has skyrocketed while still staying fairly lean. After he hits as close to 4k as we can, we will see about a cut.
      We did about 9-12 weeks of continually upping his cals based on his scale weight and progress photos, gaining about 1lb a week. We will do a small 6-8 week cut to minimize fat gain, and go again. This time next year, I hope to get him shredded for a possible show. I would ideally like him to get only as low as 2200 if necessary and even more ideally, reverse diet him (UP his calories) going INTO the show, so he looks lean but very muscularly FULL and Big.

    • @AnaGfit23
      @AnaGfit23 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zanerrr also, 4000 Macy, I’m overwhelming and daunting. I’m not telling you to do this, this is what we’re doing for him, as a natural bodybuilder, because I want to give him the best chance of preserving muscle, and staying hormonally healthy when we do a cut. That way we don’t have to crash diet with very little calories.
      4k is not what you’re aim should be haha. I’d say 2600-3k anywhere between there would be a good goal.

    I'm getting through MAPS Prime and incorporating mobility suggestion that you've shared on other shows. I'd like to advance to your split programs and this would be a much appreciated opportunity. Thank you!

    I love the controversial section of the show. It exposes more “normie” people to real issues that just get purposely tilted by the main stream news and government. A level headed take is what we all need. Love the show fellas, keep on chugging.

    I’m hugely supportive of the trans community. I like the nuance you bring to the discussion, especially when it comes to trans men and also being up front about how you don’t have the answers.
    A lot depends on whether they went through puberty before or after their transition.
    Men in women’s restrooms is what happens when trans people cannot transition. Trans men would be forced to use the women’s restroom.
    All anyone has to do is look up pictures of trans men post transition and know why they should be using the restroom that aligns with their gender.

    Im glad to hear that people enjoy split. I have maps anabolic, symmetry , asthetic, k4A , and beginner, i was thinking about getting split for after asthetic but wasnt sure if I should do performance before venturing into asthetic then do split. I really am just lifting for asthetics dont really care about being an athlete but i know being well rounded has its benefits.

    Thank god for affirmative action, aliens, stocks, and politics. Without them I’d just stare at the screen and feel dumber, listening to fitness knowledge. I love how relatable your topics are. Your show creates open conversations between my wife and myself. Thanks for everything you do.

    I'm totally with you guys on the Affirmative Action thing. As most people surely do. And that's coming from someone who attended UC Irvine (i.e., the University of Chinese Immigrants). I was the only blonde person in most of my classes and the school's literally 50% Asian. I never felt an iota of racism, though, and I didn't mind being the minority.

    Thanks for the Info as always fellas! Not sure where this would be answered, but how would you recommend choosing one of your programs to buy? I’ve never gotten one, and would love to get a structured routine put into my daily regimen, but there are so many options, I’m truly not sure which one is the right for me. I’m contemplating “MAPS Anywhere”so I can complete it in my new home gym, but are there any recommendations on other programs that use minimal gym equipment as well? I’ve had quite the fitness journey this year to date, and want to continue this healthy lifestyle but also trying to spend more time at home with family (using my home gym me and my wife are slowly building up) rather than being out of the house at a commercial gym. Appreciate the conversation!

    So I feel marginally better about having more mat and fuscle. My arms and legs have trimmed down, back fat is reducing, but my mid-section has not changed much. I still feel like a marshmallow with pretzels stuck in for limbs... tasty though. Don't worry I'm trusting the process... lol.

    The real question that needs answering: What does the key around Adam's neck open?

  • @Christinelsa
    @Christinelsa ปีที่แล้ว

    Y’all speak truth. When i chase calorie burn against my better judgment (1-2h mindless on the elliptical while I’m WFH) I get inflamed and hold body fat.
    When i stop chasing calorie burn, lift even 15 minutes on most days, walk when i can- i drop body fat and I look and feel strong. The visible changes happen within like a week.
    Could this be because when I’m a cardio junkie i may hold fluid and inflammation that is “flushed” when I focus on strength- or maybe that what fluid I am holding is sucked into the muscle instead of amplifying fatty areas? I’m really wondering just how much inflammation I’m causing with the stress of steady state cardio.. 🤔
    Murky worded question if anyone can decode/has an answer 😅

    That road rage talk is real. I've seen it in front of my eyes before, so these days, I always tell myself and families that losing our lives over idiotic behavior is not worth it. Never engage with road drama because you just never know who's behind the wheel.
