I spent a very long difficult Clan Wars season to get the opportunity to auction bonds for the Chieftain. Super Conq's really have their charms lol. However, in pub matches, I get pounded every time. People hate this tank and I have 0 wins in it, it just gets focused down or clipped out (no hull armour). It just sits in the garage.....meh.
Your experience of the Chieftain is exactly how I feel about the Bobject, it was all I could do to grind the field mods. Shit DPM, shit gun handling. Everyone loads heat and evaporates you. Just hated it.
Not all tanks have HEAT ammunition to be able to penetrate the 279e, it is not enough to have HEAT, the penetration must be over 330. The 279e remains the only OP tank, the Chieftain with an APCR of 311 doesn't even scratch it if it doesn't hit it at the tiny cap.

I tell you that E3 barely penetrates it with APCR. Otherwise, it only takes damage from HEAT with minimum penetration of 320. Plus, the 279e doesn't have a hull, it doesn't have to hide the bottom, it sits face to face with you and the only chance is to hit the cap on its left/your right. And it loads even faster than Chief.

311 APCR nerf is the big deal, there's quite a few heavies you can no longer reliably penetrate, while they can load HEAT and nail you. Edit: Most Chieftains play in a platoon, they use their teammate to pad their stats to 3 mark it. This is why its so padded and difficult for solo players.
@@casuscnactus4864 311 pen still pens through the front turret cheeks on the Maus. Even an IS-7 with its 303 pen can pen the Maus's turret and it's completely green 96% chance to pen whenever they're looking at you, which is required for them to shoot you.
@@Skerrry E-100 is covered in weak spots, the entire range finder that juts out the top of the turret, as well as the lower plate are made of butter. 279e you can still pen the front hull and both cupolas.
I have played about 15 games in the chief since the nerf. And in my opinion, they did a poor job balancing it. Its now a one trick pony. Its still fantastic at being hull down (number one complaint people had). They made its middling DPM into just bad DPM. The hull traverse nerf really hurts the mobility, and the mid-range top speed is now on the lower side of other heavies. Even an IS-4 has a higher top speed now. It is now a pretty aggravating tank to play, and the new KPZ is a much better tank in most situations (minus strictly hull down). And for reference, before the nerf I have a 60% win ratio in randoms, and have played in lots of clans battles with it. So a pretty experienced player in it. And I fully agree with it needing changes. But they made the wrong changes. They basically wanted to turn it into a tank that is no longer fun to play. And in this, they succeeded. They didn't care about actually balancing it.

There were lots of ways they could have changed the vehicle. And instead of giving it a weak spot on the turret, they nerfed all the stats that were already middling. Many of the stats are now identical to the tier 9 premium chief proto.
Chieftains main problem has never been the mobility, neither the dpm, it was the IMPENETRATABLE TURTET ARMOR, which remained as it was pre nerf! So what do we get? Tier 8 and 9 tanks will still be chanceless against chieftain, they just will be easier to farm! In my opinion, they should have left it on its speed and dpm, but weaken the armor! Reduce the turret ring from 350 to 250mm and increase the size of the 270mm "weakspot" below the gun! THAT would make chieftain morr balanced, not these bullshit changes WG did!
Before I watch this video heres my prediction: Nothing has changed at all. Once the Chieftain arrives at a hulldown positions it's unkillable. Only thing that changed is that it now takes 10 more seconds to arrive at said hulldown position.

The nerf I most feel bad about it is the speed one, I’m using the CW setup as primary (Hardening, rammer and turbo) and reach key positions now is kinda difficult. It feels like the new Chieftain is as good as any other Heavy Tank out there. The DPM nerf was unnecessary since the penetration was nerfed as well, bc the gun wasn’t good anyways. PS: Skieeeel pls play with Obj 260, there’s quite time with no video of that beautiful mother trucker ❤

Instead of nerfing the aspect/s of a tank which are indeed a problem (so in Chieftain's case the impenetrable frontal turret) WG pulls their nerfs out of their ass and nerfs something which was not the problem to begin with. Ultimately leaving the tank even more broken than it used to be. Nerfing average to bad (like dpm) so its strongest aspects are effectively made to be even stronger than before (its turret armor) cause now when you can't capitalize on the dpm that much you have to abuse the impenetrable-hull-down-play even more to increase your chances to be successful. Which is not only unbalanced by definition but also in this particular case - makes playing the game with Chief even more toxic for everyone involved. In addition, you piss off some of your whale players. I mean, what can I say, just amazing as usual WG.

Broken in this case means that the tank doesn't work like it's supposed to. At least in my opinion. They've taken from him some basically from anything besides its strongest virtue which is the impenetrable frontal turret armor. Even before the nerf Chieftain has already been busted to all fuck cause that impenetrable turret armor was heavily overshadowing all of its other aspects but now the gap is even wider and more visible. It's like now this tank is even more 1-0 like. There's really the only one possible way of playing it as nothing else works anymore. It's either play hull down or get farmed. In my opinion the tank should have been nerfed and/or changed in such a way that its playstyle would be more even out across all its aspects. That doesn't mean it shouldn't have stronger and weaker sides but it shouldn't be a 1-0 case either.

Chieftain in real life is an icon and one of the best tanks Britain has built. Chieftain in WOT is one of the most depressing additions to world of tanks for both opponents and players.
About hating a tank... I watched a video from MaxGamingFPS where he was dissing on the Kuntze panzer and honestly - I had to reply.. I love that tank, it's by far one of my best performing tanks and I love every battle with it.. But as MaxGaming wrote back: "You can love a turd, just as long as you know it's a turd".. Perhaps you can hate a diamond as well - just as long as you know it's a diamond.. Btw I don't have the chieftain, I've never really played clan wars and wasn't all that interested in it either... Although with the quality of team mates one can sometimes yearn for something better..
WG is just nerfing all these tanks to make room for new reward tanks or upcoming tech tree tanks, so that people want to grind the latest and greatest, overpowered for a few months and nerf it to the ground. Why not just introduce tier 11 and 12 tanks? instead of "balancing" the game, it is all just quick cash grab exercises. Making people grind gamemodes and season for the sake of equipments to get an advantage to other players.
I think a huge problem with marking chief is that, unless you're an actual god, you have to be an asshole to get the best results. You have to completely disregard your teammates if it gives you an advantage. You have to peek in front of them if it will give you a shot, even if doing so will cause your teammates to miss their shot. At least, this is how most chieftain players play.

Uhm, I played one or two games after nerf so objective, but the most annoying part of nerf is that this tank is now more sluggish. And rate of fire is now shitter, but it's quite small change in most of the situations. Gold ammo I don't use, so I don't care, coz spamming gold doesn't give me satisfaction. Anyway I don't care anymore about nerfs and map changes, I have plenty of other games if wot gonna suck.
Skeeel, you need to come back to earth. No one gets three marks on the barrel on this tank by themselves. You need to play a platoon with two other heavy tanks so they cover you and take damage for you. In addition, they should not do damage but only put on the track and damage the enemy's gun. Only in this way you can get three marks on this tank.

the only reason that the chif has a very high mark ceiling is because 90% its played from very good players , , in a few maps it was very very strong but for me it was at best medioca after the focus u got from the clickers , I played it in the test server where no one played artas and still could not change the flow of the game , today its garbage tank and u have no reason to get in a pup game with it -its not even get in clan wars wen u get almost the same speed with the way better conq , still regret i never sold my account ....
8:03 I'm guilty of this whenever I test my luck for arty missions and see Chief on the opposite side. There are few other tanks that get same treatment, regardless of with what I'm playing to be honest.
Now imagine if Wargaming didn't magically put it in your garage but you called into work to be able to participate in the campaign, managing the map, your clan members and called battles for 2 weeks to be able to earn it. Followed by applying bond equipment and grinding 7 skill crews to be competitive in clan wars style matches (who cares about stupid pub matches). Yeah, the tank is a tier 9 now because of all the cry babies who couldn't earn one.

Caliban has 180mm with standard HE, so idk. Kpz 07 PE is also quite close at 110mm if im not mistaken.

I think the problem with this tank is ammo, APCR feels realy bad because if you hit at an angle you will bounce unlike AP with normalisation.
IRL it is APFSDS ammo which doesn't ricochet. The round should have like 83° max angle.

There seems to be a trend here also the newer heavies have low gold pen which is a stealth buff to tanks like Maus, Type5 and E100.

Skill I have same experience with this tank. I hate it !!! People talking how OP this tank is but who dont have it dont know how you can be angry whenever you playing this crap. Of course I had amazing battles but most of the games I was close to throw my computer through the window. Greetings!

Uhm, I played one or two games after nerf so objective, but the most annoying part of nerf is that this tank is now more sluggish. And rate of fire is now shitter, but it's quite small change in most of the situations. Gold ammo I don't use, so I don't care, coz spamming gold doesn't give me satisfaction. Anyway I don't care anymore about nerfs and map changes, I have plenty of other games if wot gonna suck.

i swear to banana lord everytime i fight enemy chieftain they tend to snapshot a lot and it always a hit even in a mid range shot

Skeeel, you need to come back to earth. No one gets three marks on the barrel on this tank by themselves. You need to play a platoon with two other heavy tanks so they cover you and take damage for you. In addition, they should not do damage but only put on the track and damage the enemy's gun. Only in this way you can get three marks on this tank.

the only reason that the chif has a very high mark ceiling is because 90% its played from very good players , , in a few maps it was very very strong but for me it was at best medioca after the focus u got from the clickers , I played it in the test server where no one played artas and still could not change the flow of the game , today its garbage tank and u have no reason to get in a pup game with it -its not even get in clan wars wen u get almost the same speed with the way better conq , still regret i never sold my account ....
8:03 I'm guilty of this whenever I test my luck for arty missions and see Chief on the opposite side. There are few other tanks that get same treatment, regardless of with what I'm playing to be honest.

Now imagine if Wargaming didn't magically put it in your garage but you called into work to be able to participate in the campaign, managing the map, your clan members and called battles for 2 weeks to be able to earn it. Followed by applying bond equipment and grinding 7 skill crews to be competitive in clan wars style matches (who cares about stupid pub matches). Yeah, the tank is a tier 9 now because of all the cry babies who couldn't earn one.
