  • Hello friends! I tried out the Tundra set from Schmincke's new super granulating watercolour series and I absolutely loved them! Now I want the rest... 🤩
To celebrate World Watercolor Month 2022, I am partnering with The Deckle Edge! They have given me a coupon code to share with South African shoppers. This code is valid until the end of July 2022 and will give shoppers 5% off all Schmincke halfpans. Use code HALFPAN5 at checkout to claim your discount. This coupon does not stack with others, but can be applied to items which are already on sale. Shop now at www.thedecklee...!
DISCLAIMER: I was sponsored this set of paints by The Deckle Edge, a local art store where I both shop and teach watercolour workshops. While I have no affiliation with Schmincke in any official capacity, I really do enjoy the brand and have loved using their watercolours for years. This review is my honest opinion. I really do love these paints!

They're gorgeous! Organic tones like that make my fingers tingle. 😍 They'd lend themselves so well to abstract paintings. 😊

This looks like a nice set. Schmincke watercolors are very expensive in the States where I live, especially the supergranulating ones, but I just bought a Shire Blue and I am waiting for it to arrive to try it out. Nice video! Which of the tundra colors are your favorites? :)

Thank you so much for watching and commenting! It's a pity they're so pricey for you, we have the same problem with Daniel Smith which is another of my favourite brands. Schmincke is much cheaper here due to it being a direct import. I think out of the tundra set, my favourite has to be tundra violet. It's just so pretty! 🤩

@@danellemalan tundra violet does look impressive, I may have to give it a try! :)

How well does it dry and react if I add it to a half pan? Asking because I loaded one half pan, with a new tube, it's came out runny 24 hours and it's still not dry.

If it came out runny and brown, like a brown liquid, that would be the binder separating out from the pigment. It's usually not a problem but might get sticky if left to sit in a halfpan. I recommend mixing the liquid back into the paint with a toothpick or similar, and then giving it another good few days to dry. Depending on your humidity levels and temperature, it can take multiple days to dry properly, since it is a really thick layer of paint. It's best to keep it in a warm, dry place to help it dry out completely. I hope that helps!

Seems like you put the salt on too soon.
