But the shows high ratings didn't bring in any money, that was the dolls job, to bring in the money, and when the dolls stopped selling, they cancelled the show even though ratings were at an all time high. The Stingers were also not brought in to make the show more soap opera like. They were brought in so they could produce more dolls, new Stingers dolls to help boost sales. The doll line failed because they were made too large, and thus Barbie clothes didn't fit them. If they had been made the same size, and Barbie's clothes fit them, they probably would have sold much much better. What I have stated is all 100% fact. Look it up. Another thing that killed the doll line was that you couldn't buy new Jem outfits for any of the characters unless you bought an entirely new doll. With Barbie, you could buy new outfits separately without buying a new doll. The only reason Jem was created was to compete with Barbie dolls. That's why the show was created, to promote the dolls. Christy Marx was hired as the writer of the show. She was given a complete set of the dolls and was told to create characters out of them all, along with backstories and personalities.

Jem's thing for Riot added to much depth to her character. Really, Jerrica was always the responsible one. She has to run the business, be the lead singer, be a good partner to Rio even though she knows he's two-timing her with Jem - because she feels guilty about it, has to keep everything going for the Starlight kids. It's just so much fun to see her being tempted off by Riot because that's a side of Jerrica we don't really see before. We see her tired and wanting to escape, but never her just wanting something selfishly.
This is possibly the best song of the entire series. The composition is excellent. The bass licks and percussion. The modulation into the chorus. This wasn't just crapped out to meet a quota. I would listen to a full length version of this song TODAY.
There is a guy who has been doing bass covers of Jem songs. He doesn't put out a lot of content but he has a few songs and it is solid stuff. Edu Hurtado is the channel.
If Jem reboot ever happens, the Stingers music should be seamless combination Prince-inspired psychedelic R&B/soul with David Bowie-inspired avant-garde, experimental art rock.
Riot's character had so much potential, his past explaining his behavior, and how he completely changed after the chapter ''Riot's hope'' makes me think of how he would've turned if the series wasn't cancelled. He is one of the best characters on the show, because of the amazing character development, in only a few episodes ! without him, Jem would have never be able to found Ba Nee's father, and how he stopped trying to get her after everything that happened with his family, he was even a little shy when it was to her, yet charming. Jem being a support in his family' situation was an amazing chance to get them closer, now that Jem knew who he really was, why we was the way that he was, the living hell that he had to go through. Along with that, Jerrica breaking up with Rio finally, and trying to have a real relationship (less toxic this time) now that she trusts Riot. It's really sad that the show got cancelled, imma cry.
Was Riot shagging Minx and Rapture? ...You know deep down that it was impossible that he was just getting it on with only one of them; It's either both or neither. Rio was suppose to be a good person, but temper temper temper; They made him lose his temper too much, too strongly, too often, and too quickly. He should have went through his own character arch where he learns to bring problems up politely. Jerrica/Jem also turned a little more bossy than they seem to have intended. They wanted a good dynamic with her and the Holograms, but it was a kid's show and they kept the Holograms' status fairly one dimensional in order to rely on Jem being the leader all the time. Instead, they could have "broke the mold" and introduced clever ways for Jem to deal with disagreements within the group (for the older kids), thus honoring more of the original intended vision and adding more dimension to an already great show. @@bentonrp we see that after jem he doesint really pay attention to ANY girl not even pizazz could get his attention. we dont shame having a past sexual relationship because that is the past and not happening anymore. before riot wasint with anyone and as long as they all consented there shouldnt be an issue with them as long as he doesint see them anymore. sure they cling to him a bit but thats because they always have. they were always close because they are his band members for the stingers. even then they are still trying to help riot be with jem even singing " perfect match " with him and not stopping him. his time is mainly spend trying to get jem alone with him to talk about possibly being together and getitng some quality time with her without being interupted so fast. maybe after his arch with his dad and some self reflection he would be a really good match for jem. even during his douchebag days he doesint do ANYTHING he considers dangerous or harmful to jem. mentally physically or emotionally. far from what rio does by cheating ( without him being aware that they are the same girl and thinking hes hiding it well that hes cheating with both of them ) he may be a douchebag at first but riot does get better over time and improve. unlike rio he has a backstory that explains the causes of his issues and his self improvement. alot coming from his father not accepting his music career and being a more traditional man compaired to the path that riot took. making him feel like he always had to be tough and aggressive to get what he wanted to succeed. and untill now that WORKED for him. but if he really wants jem/jerrica then hes going to have to change that if he wants to fit into jems world as he needs to. he cant treat the holograms badly and be with jem like before. only now is riot being contronted with needing to change because he never needed to. it wasint necessary for what he wanted in life so being contronted with having to change for someone he loves to accept him into her life its hard for him to do. but with time he can and would do it. unlike rio who seemed nice but was an awful boyfriend and riot who was a good boyfriend but didnt treat other people well. rio never has an explanation as to why he is the way he is. when riot gets a detailed one on why he was the way he acted. i know we dont get an ending but i like to think that rio got dumped and riot was given a second chance after his arch and self reflection and asking for help to learn to be more empathetic and open about feelings. and jem/jerrica would help him do that. on top of that? i actually would trust riot more with the secret then rio. rio is already known to be completely unloyal and untrustworthy for cheating and would betray jerricas secret if it ment benefitting him like exposing a secret that would make him alot of money and fame for doing. riot would have nothing to gain or even a single reason to betray her. even if he WASINT famous or rich he wouldnt. because i even doubt it would matter if he was dating jem or jerrica if it ment he still got the person he was in love with. unlike rio who has no backstory or story of his own that isint drama or plot related, riot has a complex character and actions that reflect that complicated upbringing and life he had

Second, Riot was also deeply flawed character and I'm sorry but having an abusive father doesn't quite justify his actions. Third, the whole "Rio is a cheater" argument doesn't hold much weight when Jerrica was being just as dishonest with Rio as she was with him, so holding Rio entirely accountable but not Jerrica for creating that whole situation doesn't make much sense.

I think it was established in the cartoon that, as herself, Jerrica was more serious/business orientated while, when she was Jem, she allowed herself to be more carefree/relaxed. So, I can forgive Riot (who is carefree/relaxed himself) to be drawn to Jem, but not at all to Jerrica. Funnily enough, though - I think if Riot were to learn Jem's real identity, he'd more than likely be even more intrigued; because who's going to understand the need for an alter ego more than a celebrity? As for Rio, the only reason Jerrica doesn't tell him the truth is because she's scared of losing him - given how she's seen how he feels about lies/deception (when she caught him giving Kimber Hell for dating two guys at the same time without them knowing of the other). Sadly, the moment Jerrica voices concern about Rio's loyalty towards her (given how he's drawn to other women she's diguised as), Synergy just makes things worse by convincing her Rio's two timing is okay because he's always drawn to Jerrica; no matter what she looks like.

The Stingers were definitely more of the the villains type than the Misfits. The Stingers were so sophisticated and had a lot of style, but they were also quite cruel at times,a lot more vicious than The Misfits. And that's saying something.🎵🎹🎶🌹🌷🤩🌻❤️🌍🌃💕❤️💖

I love all The Stingers songs but this one is my favorite. I'm glad I found your videos and that you listed the songs in order. It made me realize the Shout Factory has the episodes out of order for season 3. The last 3 are The Day the Music Died, Video Wars, and A Father Should Be.I didn't like that order because there wasn't a chance for anyone to make up or Jem to forgive Riot. I'm glad there were more episodes between The Day the Music Died and the last one.

this episode is so ridiculous lol. when i saw it, i hadn't known who riot was or the first episode when he was introduced, so i thought he was a new character. but at this point, jem already knows who riot is and that he always tries to seduce her and steal her away, so how does she fall under his spell?? It seems near the end they started making more stories with the Stingers instead of the Misfits. There's only so much you can do before Misfits vs. Holograms stories get old and monotonous.

The problem with the ship (so to speak) between Jem and Riot is Jerrica Benton: since she was never able to tell Rio that she and Jem were one and the same, would she tell that to Riot?
Riot wants Jem because she's perfect: a beautiful, glamorous, talented superstar and having her on his arm would bolster his ego, star power and career. Jerrica is below the requirements of his ego and I believe he would lose interest immediately. Oddly enough, despite rejecting her, I think he'd keep her secret though because Riot enjoys games and watching The Misfits & Erik continually be annoyed by Jerrica/Jem would amuse him.

The voiceover artist for “Riot’s” speaking voice was Townsend Coleman. He also voiced “The Tick” and I think “Michaelangelo” in the original “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. He’s actually a really great guy from what I can see on Facebook. (We’re Facebook friends) 😁❤️

The Stingers were definitely more of the the villains type than the Misfits. The Stingers were so sophisticated and had a lot of style, but they were also quite cruel at times,a lot more vicious than The Misfits. And that's saying something.🎵🎹🎶🌹🌷🤩🌻❤️🌍🌃💕❤️💖

I love all The Stingers songs but this one is my favorite. I'm glad I found your videos and that you listed the songs in order. It made me realize the Shout Factory has the episodes out of order for season 3. The last 3 are The Day the Music Died, Video Wars, and A Father Should Be.I didn't like that order because there wasn't a chance for anyone to make up or Jem to forgive Riot. I'm glad there were more episodes between The Day the Music Died and the last one.

this episode is so ridiculous lol. when i saw it, i hadn't known who riot was or the first episode when he was introduced, so i thought he was a new character. but at this point, jem already knows who riot is and that he always tries to seduce her and steal her away, so how does she fall under his spell?? I love this silly show.

It seems near the end they started making more stories with the Stingers instead of the Misfits. There's only so much you can do before Misfits vs. Holograms stories get old and monotonous.

The problem with the ship (so to speak) between Jem and Riot is Jerrica Benton: since she was never able to tell Rio that she and Jem were one and the same, would she tell that to Riot?
Riot wants Jem because she's perfect: a beautiful, glamorous, talented superstar and having her on his arm would bolster his ego, star power and career.
Jerrica is below the requirements of his ego and I believe he would lose interest immediately.
Oddly enough, despite rejecting her, I think he'd keep her secret though because Riot enjoys games and watching The Misfits & Erik continually be annoyed by Jerrica/Jem would amuse him.
