I just want to say I'm an old cook and I watch your channel and have tried many of your recipes with great success. I've never been disappointed. Thank you for your hard work and for really putting the time in perfecting your recipes as many of these people wing it. Much luck to you❤
From using cups for measuring everything to weighing out individual portions of dough (also noticed on some cookie recipes recently). The engineer in me is very happy right now. I'm so proud of you Sam :)
There’s also Rose Homestead yt channel, she has a whole series on sourdough, starting, feeding, etc. Sourdough is my favorite, lol- Sam’s recipes have never failed, so between these two ladies the sourdough is thoroughly represented for me, lol
Is there a reason we can’t use this recipe and dip it in a soda bath? I want to use the sourdough? If possible, but I won’t make them enough times to warrant buying lye. Thanks.
You can use a baking soda bath. The pretzels don't come out quite as pretty, but will still taste delicious. I have notes on how to use the baking soda bath in the notes section on my website. :) sugarspunrun.com/sourdough-soft-pretzels/
To dispose of the lye water, you can neutralize the solution by adding 2 ½ cups of vinegar to the mixture and then (carefully, to avoid splashing) pour it down the sink drain while running cool water at the same time. :)
I hope that this video was recorded before I recently told you to lightly oil your container holding the honey so that it slides right out without needing to use a spatula. 🤷🏻♂️😁 Great video! I think you did a phenomenal job shaping your pretzels. BTW, I’m still hoping that you don’t give up on trying to circularize your amoeba shaped pizzas. Nice job, Samantha!

Thank you! :)
This looks so good. I have always been a fan of soft pretzels. Could you make a video of how to make cinnamon sugar soft pretzel bights? 🥨
I love your sourdough recipes. Especially, your sourdough chocolate chip cookies. I make them all the time. ❤❤❤
I'm so glad they are such a hit! :)
Now it’s a STAND MIXER SIBLING RIVALRY!!!! 😂😂😂😂
🤣
Thank you very much Sam I can't wait to make it 🙌 bless to your family
I hope you love them! :)
Wait a minute. You mean she has multiple stand mixers that she rarely gives love to? Sadly, I find this relatable. Please do not ask for details.
Great video thank you very much!
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
It's pretzel season !! 🥨
If you ask my husband, it's ALWAYS pretzel season!
Do you have any videos on starting sourdough starters? 😅
I don’t have a video but do have a page on my site about making one. 😊 sugarspunrun.com/how-to-make-a-sourdough-starter/

Yummy!
So, how do you dispose of the lye? Do you dump it down the sink? What is that going to do to a stainless steel sink or pvc pipes?
To dispose of the lye water, you can neutralize the solution by adding 2 ½ cups of vinegar to the mixture and then (carefully, to avoid splashing) pour it down the sink drain while running cool water at the same time. :)
These look so YUMMY 🤤 every time I’ve tried to make pretzels, it doesn’t work 😅major fail in the kitchen.
I hope these are a success for you! :)
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
why not use baking soda bath?
The pretzels don't come out quite as pretty with a baking soda bath.
Is that safe to eat?
Why wouldn't it

🤣 I do make them a bit in advance some times. I do work on my pizzas, although I'm not sure the success rate of circular dough is increasing any. 🤣
If u don’t want lye on anything yet u want to put it in your body ???
It’s neutralized by the heat of the oven. I do have an alternative I discuss though if you aren’t comfortable with it 😊
Yes. Can you show the alternative? I already know I’ll never try this version.
You can see it in my homemade soft pretzel video. 😊 th-cam.com/video/HzIgUyntuA0/w-d-xo.html
if you have ever washed yourself with literally any kind of soap, you've been in contact with lye. You're fine.
Sdsss❤
