The books is absolutely fantastic, cool to see it as a show! Anyone who loves this show I'd recommend reading Recursion by Blake Crouch, even more mind bending
Blake Crouch is literally one of the best authors of the 21st century. Dark Matter and Recursion are two of my favorite books of all time. PS. I still have to read Upgrade.
In the first episode they show “Jay” stepping into a storage locker where he has a collection of cell phones. I believe he has been traveling to these alternate universes (through all those doors) trying to find the “Jason” that became a family man and leads the life he could have had (and now wants) if he had chosen to abandon his work aspirations for money and fame.
Also a problem with just choosing a random door. In Sliders, they often at times got thrown to world's in a crisis or where Germany won WW2 or the Russians took over. In this scenario, picking a random door may be a death sentence as you may end up in a reality where theres no oxygen, there was a doomsday event, maybe human's went extinct or evolved dinosaurs roam the planet. The possibilities should be endless. So they need to have one character know about how to choose which doors to enter, otherwise it seems unrealistic because they would probably end up dead within a couple of crossovers.
*_MASSIVE SPOILER FROM THE BOOK SO DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS_* (because if the show actually follows the book storyline it'll be really good so you don't want it ruined) yes that's exactly what happens.. there ends up being hundreds of Jasons all from different worlds, some of them utterly horrific wastelands having gone through wars and plagues and different apocalypses. He keeps going through the wrong doors trying to get back to his own world, racing to get there before any other Jasons.. but all the other Jasons have the same idea as they all believe they're the real Jason. The Jasons are also all in different stages of injuries etc from going through deadly worlds. It'll be so cool if they include all that in the show!!!!
Love the video as always you pick some great shows to follow and typically provide very in depth analysis. This show is fascinating and right now it’s the best out there as far as I’m concerned there’s something I don’t think you discussed that I think is extremely important and I’ll have to go back to the show and , pause and watch closely, but I think that’s what the Jay as we know him was going through the contents of that strong box and it was birth certificates with Social Security cards of the family, and there was an additional member perhaps their first child died ???
I dont think they killed Ryan, they probably sent him in the box and we may see him later on. If you know only 1 person returned through the box, using the box to get rid of Ryan would be the best resort than rather having to dispose of a body.
I love it so far. I feel its like the show Dark but it will get more like the show Sliders in the end where they travel to different places. One thing about Jason 2 (Jaye) though, he should have just told everyone he hit his head with that "car accident" on the other Jason to the point where his memory is foggy. It would be alot easier then him worrying about slipping up and getting caught. lol
I have to admit, this show could have gone in so many different directions but they seem to be side-stepping the obvious and giving us just enough mystery without it feeling like Lost. Reminds in ways of Counterpart which was cancelled too soon.
I'm going crazy frustrated watching this show, a huge company creates a new sophisticated quantum technology with all of the potential implications about parallel universes for the explicit reason to reach those, and they don't even consider for second that this dude that looks talks and walks like their boss but seem to have no memory of this life but remembers another life is maybe a different version from those other universes they are trying to access?!?! This premise is so dumb it makes me mad watching it. And finally when the coin drops for them they decide he is a hostile imposter instead of listening to his original story about the guy that abducted him (which they should know because they interrogated the friend). It's like the show is pretending that this company shouldn't even have thought about this "doppelganger" scenario because it's not something that happens in real life, which would be fine if the company wasn't literally ACTIVELY TRYING TO GO TO PARALLEL UNIVERES and this would be like number 3 in the list of explanations for whats wrong with the dude that stepped into a quantum superposition machine thingy and came back different🤦
they did catch on to that. Hence why they locked him up. I feel they had a feeling about it early on but wasn't sure if it could still be a lost of memories type of ordeal. Remember Jaye was very secretive on what he was doing, even Ryan 2 said this. It's possible he didn't tell the staff the full ramifications of the box. Also ideally having technology created that can allow you to return seems implausible because there should be trillions of alternate doors. It would be impossible to find. Jaye probably just found one similar, used it and sent Jason back through it....but for all we know the Jaye we see might not even be from that world. That may just be another world that had similar circumstances with creating the box and with a 3rd Jason traveling. Lol Remember in Sliders, there was hundreds of Jerry O'Connell's traveling lol. I bet in this case there will be more than 2 Jason's traveling.
Yeah this kind of pissed me off. I don’t understand why they went full hostile on his ass instead of trying to figure out what happened and maybe even helped him get back/give info on where Scientist Jason is
I agree. I just finished watching all three episodes. Honestly, I'm a little sick of why Jason didn't tell from the beginning the part where he was kidnapped by someone with a mask and got injected. off course jaye understood how to make money, the new car gun and the secret place wont come cheap, on the first episode you notices tons of stuff that easily can be a job to get money, clean or not but it is a setup
he most likely can re-create technology from his world into the new world. Since Ryan didnt get as far in that world, he could also invest into his company fully knowing the possibilities they have. My bet is he either brought technology with him or information on technology at which he can sell.
No, I think she was saying 4 people missing INCLUDING Daniela Vargas, or at least that is what I took from the conversation between Amanda and Leighton. They really didn't show us what they did with Daniel's body of if the police found it.
good episode! and now i'm starting to think something similar is going on at Lumon on Severance. could explain Ms Casey/Gemma. remember Ricken's book reading, about Schrodinger's cat
It was obviously 3 others that went missing including Jaye. How hard is that to understand? If you include Daniella then that is because they have got rid of her corpse before the cops could find her.
Great breakdown. You didn't mention much about Maximillion or Blair. Which reality do you think the Blair we saw is actually from? And do you think we'll see Maximillion from another reality?

So many plot holes that I hope get fixed in later episodes: 1) If Jaye came out of a box to enter Jason's world that means that Jason's world had a box. However, that makes no sense since Jason never scaled it up. 2) Why wouldn't Jason just tell them that Jaye abducted him. Why keep it a secret and get beat up? 3) How could Jaye possibly know which door to open. There would literally be an infinite amount. 4) How would Jaye have directed Jason to know which door to open to get to his original universe. Why even carry him back to the old universe in the first place where he could possibly come back? I mean you're willing to abduct him and basically lie to his wife (which is creepy af and totally non-consensual) so your moral compass is already shaky. Seems more logical to just kill him.
@@cheesenotcheesyenough9088 yep as someone who loves the book, it's slightly frustrating seeing all these people mad at the show when the answers all exist already lol. @@Looshington yes the book starts out seeming crazy but it’s all explained by the end so that might happen with the show. The show was adapted for screen by the guy who wrote the book :)
Episode 3 of Dark Matter feedback. Why did they kill of Jennifer Connelly? And it was absurd the way Jason just got over it without any grief. Also why are they so irate and heavy handed about not having the correct Jason? It’s not some military funded classified mission. I mean the guy himself built the box. I just have to suspend disbelief with all the unnecessary angst at this point and think it would have rung truer to have gone down a different path or at least it could have demonstrated why it was so serious and why all the violence was necessary. I mean Elon Musk wouldn’t be treated in that way by his own company would he? Reply
Hold up!!!…lol…someone please help me..Layton thinks “jaye” is “jason” ?..and just doesnt want to tell him the secret of how to use the box?..Jason tells Amanda “you just dont know who you think you have”..or something like that..and all of a sudden Layton walks in and has figured it out that Jason is actually 2 Jasons?…im probably wrong..
The character Jason makes me want to turn the show off. I'm only still watching it because I'm interested in the other dimension theory. Other than that this is very poorly written. If you're trying to get back to your reality, work with people from Jay's reality to help you figure it out. I know they have to drag it out somehow but they could have wrote this very different. Jason has to be the smartest most dumbest character I've ever watched. It's like watching a scaring movie and the character runs into the house or fields instead of getting into the car. Jason could have told them he wasn't Jay. They could have still introduced Daniela and built upon that, they could have still introduced Ryan, maybe make him a villain. And Jason could have still entered the box in the 3rd episode. He's gotten two people killed. I would have immediately said I'm not Jay, lets's figure out how to get me back. He's just fuckin stupid. My bad for the long ass. message.
I just think it’s crazy how in these shows it’s never the government discovering all this stuff is just like a regular dude or some random company&&the government has no idea about it and doesn’t take it over😂😂😂😂🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️‼️‼️
do you actually want me to? I'll give you the basic overall gist (SPOILERS BELOW) There's literally hundreds/thousands of Jasons who all think they're the real Jason and are all trying to get back to Jason's original world. He ends up going through hundreds of worlds trying to get to his world before the other Jason's get there, but many of the worlds have been destroyed by plagues and apocalypses etc. There are many Jasons in varying stages of extreme injury and disease etc, because they spent too long in the wrong worlds. By the time he gets there, there are many other Jasons there already and they all have to try to kill all the other Jasons so the last one left gets the world :D The book is SOOOO good (I can't remember the exact details as it was a few years ago I read it, but that's the basics)

Seems more logical to just kill him.
similar to myu question in each world need a box too, or suddenly in every possible scenario it already build up?
I’ve read the book and the majority of these are answered by the end
@@cheesenotcheesyenough9088 yep as someone who loves the book, it's slightly frustrating seeing all these people mad at the show when the answers all exist already lol. If it actually sticks to the story from the book it will be great - but I've been disappointed by tv adaptations before! fingers crossed :)
@@VexaraxThat’s not the books job to explain what’s happening. I’m sure the book and story ARE GREAT, but we are only being presented with the information on TV. And TV has been more than known to unfortunately add some plot holes in otherwise great work! It’s up to them to execute, can’t expect people to hold on for answers they have no concept of coming or not.
@@Looshington yes the book starts out seeming crazy but it’s all explained by the end so that might happen with the show. The show was adapted for screen by the guy who wrote the book :)
I assume he said "3 missing" because the 4th is jason
3 missing plus “Jaye”

Hold up!!!…lol…someone please help me..Layton thinks “jaye” is “jason” ?..and just doesnt want to tell him the secret of how to use the box?..Jason tells Amanda “you just dont know who you think you have”..or something like that..and all of a sudden Layton walks in and has figured it out that Jason is actually 2 Jasons?…im probably wrong..
Bro what 😭
so this box just pop up in diff realities n nobody else see the shit??
I think it’s possible that he is data mining for crypto currency - hence why he has money to spend on all those fancy things…
I think its important to remember that the relationship the impostor jason is having with the wife is extremely non consensual and disgusting.
Oh indeed.
He's a very bad dude.
Makes you wonder about Jason 1, who was quite happy to cheat on the wife he's supposedly so obsessed with.
Apparently the story ends with a great Jason massacre, and I don't think anyone's gonna be too sad about that.
I guess no ahs part two videos
My bad for the long ass. message.
I just think it’s crazy how in these shows it’s never the government discovering all this stuff is just like a regular dude or some random company&&the government has no idea about it and doesn’t take it over😂😂😂😂🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️‼️‼️
To anyone who has read the book. Please spoil it under here for me.
do you actually want me to? I'll give you the basic overall gist (SPOILERS BELOW)
There's literally hundreds/thousands of Jasons who all think they're the real Jason and are all trying to get back to Jason's original world. He ends up going through hundreds of worlds trying to get to his world before the other Jason's get there, but many of the worlds have been destroyed by plagues and apocalypses etc. There are many Jasons in varying stages of extreme injury and disease etc, because they spent too long in the wrong worlds. By the time he gets there, there are many other Jasons there already and they all have to try to kill all the other Jasons so the last one left gets the world :D The book is SOOOO good (I can't remember the exact details as it was a few years ago I read it, but that's the basics)
damn f this I am going to read the book
it's really good! :)
The cavewoman was a little over the top.
tried watching this series but it was soooooo boring and didnt seem to go anywhere ..snooze fest
Bye, Felicia.
At least I don't think they can stretch out this story to more than one season.
So there's that.
