    “Someday in the future” is too broad of a statement! When will we all hear from you again?!
    In all seriousness, I thoroughly enjoyed each piece from your challenge. You definitely have it in you to create for cinema. I do love to hear your thought processes and reasonings behind different choices while you’re composing. The “why” is very important to me! I feel bad for just now posting my comment on this video- a month (ish) later. Anyway- bravo. You did it. It was great. 👏

      Thanks so much for your support along the way. :)
      I think I know what the next video will be, it’s just a matter of having a day where I have enough time and feel like getting it all set up. (Though it won’t a very musical episode)
      I’ve worked on a few pieces in the last few weeks but nothing felt worthy of setting up a camera. Some day in the future I will though. Haha.

    Also I love the fact that you talked about writing so much "creepy" music haha. I definetely feel that. For me, I tend to default to sad, slow compositions and have to work hard to write something not in that style.

      @drewmorrismusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know where my "leaning towards creepy" type of music really comes from, other than that I feel like for my style, it's often easier for me to make minor key music that doesn't feel forced than for major key music. That's not always, the case, but it happens a lot.

    Great video Drew, impressive what you've learned from this... , and you said the process made you happier! That outruns all the others for me. Looking forward to more stuff, greets from Europe

      Thank you! Yeah, my feelings about the challenge seemed to get better as time progressed, so who knows? Maybe I’ll do this again some day. But if not, I do intend to keep putting out videos, even if they’re just random things I feel like showing or talking about.
      Thanks so much for continuing to check out my videos. It means a lot to me!

      Thanks Vasilis! It’s cool to think that there are still people working their way through my challenge from months ago. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch!
      It’s also cool to think that I’ve managed to connect to a handful of people in other countries!

    Omg, this is so intense! I can imagine you probably learned a lot about editing and filming when you challenged yourself to this! I tried to do vlogmas last year and completely failed haha. I’ve always thought it could be fun to do some sort of practice challenge for a month although I’m struggling to come up with something that would produce interesting content and wouldn’t take TOO much time editing 🫣

    • @drewmorrismusic
      @drewmorrismusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I watched your vlogmas videos and enjoyed them! I would encourage you to do a practice challenge or something like that. I grew so much from my 31 in 31 challenge, both musically, and in making videos. But it also sucked all my extra time out of the month. So maybe pick a month that you don't have a vacation, or a ton of other things going on. haha. But it might also help streamline your filming setup too, and force you to get more efficient with your editing. It sure did for me!
      Thanks for taking the time to check out some more of my videos!

    So......couldn't help but notice that the Pros outweight the Cons by almost two to one. So, yeah, you're pretty much gonna have to do this again. Maybe 62 pieces in 62 days....yeah...that'd be good.

    • @drewmorrismusic
      @drewmorrismusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha! 62 in 62, wow. If I were to do that, it wouldn't be for a while. haha. But yeah, in the long run the pros far outweighed the cons. If it didn't literally take me all day to write the pieces and edit the videos, I might consider doing it again sooner than later, but the video part just took so much time! Regardless, Thank you for the encouragement you gave me before and during the challenge. :)

      @@drewmorrismusic What if you would edit the challenge a bit? This wouldn't work for the format of a 'video a day', but maybe you could give yourself some kind of 'time reservoir' for each song,? Like for example giving yourself three hours to finish a song. Doesn't matter if you do one hour one day and two hours the second one. The only rule is that you can't take more from the time reservoir than what's in it (three hours in this case). After you've finished a batch of songs - let's say five - you can make a video about it and then move on to the next five. In this way you can plan when you're going to work and also take some time off when you feel like you need it, like for example with Spring Break. Maybe a deadline for the video would work too, maybe not, I don't know.
      Using timers to give yourself a goal, like: "I'm going to work for one hour on this piece", would be very important and helpful in keeping you focused, working quickly, and silencing your inner critic. It's the same as "I need to finish this today", but then it's more "I need to have made some progress at the end of this hour, because I only have three."
      It's a rough idea, but something like this could work, I think.
      Either way, I enjoyed the video a lot. Thank you for taking the time to do something like this and sharing your results with us! It's really inspiring.

    • @drewmorrismusic

      @@karim0302 I dig that idea a lot! I jotted down your idea and put it up on my wall. Once I finish the projects I'm currently working on, maybe I can shift focus over to the time reservoir idea. Thanks for that!
      And thanks for watching! If you liked this video there are several music-related videos on my channel that you might like to check out as well (If you haven't already seen them).
      Anyway, thanks so much for the idea. I'll definitely be giving it a shot soon!

      @@drewmorrismusic Thanks! And great to hear! Perfectionism and that 'inner critic' are things I've been struggling with myself for a long time now, so it's very inspiring to see someone experiment with different ways of working and reflect on the process in an honest way. Knowing how to make progress with and confront these things is often different than actually doing it, and in this way I got a kind of indirect experience of it. So, thanks again.
      I'll be checking out the rest of your videos too, for sure!
      Excited to see how it all pans out, and of course, please feel free to experiment and alter this time reservoir idea, or even to drop it altogether in favor of something else!

      @@karim0302 thanks for the kind words! I hope you can get your inner critic in check too! Mine has been creeping back in a little lately, but I’m doing what I can to get it back under control.
