Thank you for the tutorial. Well done, quick and to the point. You took enough time navigating menus so we don't have to back up numerous times to try to figure out what tools/operations you've used.
okay guys i got this to work finally. It seems to only work when you export the mesh as an STL then import it into a new drawing (capture design history has to be enabled to activate direct edit too.). Obviously unground from parent too.
Thanks. This is ridiculous amount of work to do to just get up to be up though. Why is the component in such a weird orientation to start with? The scanner knows perfectly well which way is up, it feels like something is very wrong somewhere.
Hi there, When I try the same thing I get an error "no alignment suggested by geometry could be found ". Do you have any idea about how to fix it? Great video btw this method is 1000x better than calculating vectors and using Move :)
In the latest update of fusion 360 a few things changed. If you get an error about no alignments founds. Right click on the Component then "unground from parent". You should be able to continue and align the planes.

F*** sake! All this time I was trying to align things in Blender, but this is so much easier and quicker. Thanks!

I just love this tutorial ! Thank you Jermaul !
Exactly what I needed. Thanks!
I'll have to try this with my new scanner. Thanks for sharing :)
amazing video
Godlike. TY
You're a wizard thanks man
Helpful! Thank you!
Never played with direct edit. Didn't know it existed!
Very nice, thank you.
I keep getting “no alignment suggested by geometry could be found” when I try to align it………
Sorry about that. I will have to check and see what the problem is. Fusion updates often and things break.
OK i found the problem. Right click on the Component then unground from parent
@@xile6 thank you for replying, appreciate that.
@@xile6many thanks !
@@xile6 Dude, I've been banging my head against this error for hours. Thank you so much for this comment! Solved my issue.
Thanks,Very helpful compressed summery if you know the meaning of each step in this procedure
Followed this step by step and I get a "No alignment suggested by geometry could be found". Stuck on this and dont know what to do.
exactly my issue , im guessing its an update issue ?
Did you find a solution for this? I'm stuck here as well😅

@@luftstolle just how its exported.
I normally use geomagic. It take a few clicks.
Does anyone know how to make this work? Even when I unground from parent, it still doesn't do what it's supposed to do.
I just tried this and the body doesn't follow the 3-point planes
how to make a specific datum like point or axis for entties alignment?
@@rifalse should be able to make it all under the construction table
Can anyone confirm if this still works? It seems to be broken as of Aug 2024.
@@RocketkidDesigns ill check later today and confrim
But should still be working. Remeber to not skip the direct edit menu
@@xile6 Thanks, I did end up figuring it out. Turns out the component was grounded to the parent. I ungrounded it and it worked.

Same issue, curious as well.
Same problem, no information on how to fix it.
@stal2k @damonwolf2392 you have probably anchor icon on your component. Right click on the component and deselect Ground to parent
@@dizzicz ty will try.
@@dizzicz thank you

Yes the free one is what i used
