  • Mark Hancock began his career founding a successful advertising agency, and then after becoming a Christian, served as a pastor, homeless ministry director and international ministry event director. He had two sons involved in Boy Scouts of America, but when BSA made a major shift away from its biblical roots toward gender inclusivity, Mark unexpected found himself at the center of a movement to start an alternative faith-based program. He is now CEO of Trail Life USA, which addressed for key challenges that boys are facing in today’s culture - boys are unguided, ungrounded, unappreciated, and uninspired. In this interview, Mark will share stories of lives transformed by Trail Life USA.

I certainly disagree that toxic masculinity is a brush that has been painted on ALL boys and men. Have you ever heard about divine masculinity? I would say that you guys radiate divine masculinity 😊

Responding to (18:20) Per National BSA standards: At cub level (5yr-11yrs) each den is to be single gender. A den is not to be mixed genders. A den can be mixed level (eg Lions and Tigers in the same den). There can be boy dens and girl dens in the same pack (unit). At the ScoutsBSA level (Boy Scouts 11yr-18yrs): Troops are to be separate genders. There can be only boy troops. There can be only girls troops. A charter organization can have a boy troop and a girl troop, but the troops are to be separate units. A boy troop and girl troop can share an adult committee. Each troop has to have different scoutmasters and youth leadership. In other word: the boy troop has their own Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, Senior Patrol Leaders, etc and the girl troops has their own Scoutmaster, etc. Activities can be mixed gender, though don´t have to be. It is possible at the charter org level to keep activities single gender. But activities (eg merit badge workshops) at the regional level are likely to be mixed gender.

" Where is the baby come from? " it is totally responsibility from the fathers. We are the ones whom carry the seeds! And this is something so beautiful! It is a shame to me!many fathers are running away from this responsibility to give a satisfied answer to their kids.

May the Lord return soon! Amen. God is merciful. He always forgives. Never be ashamed to take your failures to him. He is for you, not against you! God is with you in the storm. He knows your troubles, he hears you! He is for you, on your side, always! It may feel silent at times, but he’s holding you close! May the Lord return soon! We are drawing closer. He is coming! Believe and trust in the Lord, you will be saved. Period. May the Lord bless you all! Hang in there family. Stay strong. It is not easy following the Lord. We are scoffed at. We give up our earthly dreams, our fleshly desires. What the enemy offers is short lived, but heaven is forever! Life may seem or be unfair, but God is with you! Always remember that. Things may get better or worse for you, but a kingdom awaits you! Finish the race! Repent daily and carry your cross. This world is fading fast. Your troubles are temporary! New channel here, I’d appreciate any kind of support. Don’t give up! God loves you so much! So do I. The Lord bless you!!

I wish my son could join Trail Life, but we live in Brazil. Are there resources for people outside of the US to start similar groups?

Hi, David. We found the information below in the FAQ section of the Trail Life USA web page. We hope it's helpful.
Is this organization limited to the United States?Initially, the focus of program development is within the United States. Trail Life USA depends on God’s leading to determine the long-term reach of its ministry.
American citizens stationed on military bases and other outposts around the world, as well as foreign citizens, can contact the Home Office at HomeOffice@TrailLifeUSA.com - for information regarding the possibility of implementing the program in their countries.

One of the big concerns for our family was the fact that boy scouts hid known abuse. Do y'all have procedures in place for fully prosecuting any one who would use your organization to violate children?

Trail life makes every leader do a background check just to even start. Leaders are never 1 on 1 with the boys, they have a 2 leader rule and boys travel in groups of 3. Outside of that it’ll be on leaders to call out anything suspicious beyond that
