I plan on doing my chores in the morning, quilt in the afternoons and counted cross stitch in the evening while watching TV. I really need to do this so I get projects done. I pulled out a bunch of quilting projects (some started) and some just kitted. They are now towering over my large dining room table. I still have a bunch more in a closet. The only way I hope to do them is if I see them every time I pass through the dining room. Since it's just my husband and me, we don't use the dining room table anymore. I really hope I can get this schedule in gear. I don't usually make New Year's resolutions, but this one is important. I'm 74 and have to get my butt in gear! Wish me luck!

I have watched you since 2019 when I decided to take up sewing. I am now 72 and you introduced me to Jen Kingwell for paper piecing and Sue Spargo for stitching and my fingers could not handle. So, I finally figured out thru Madam Sew the gadget that helps with keeping a 1/4" straight stitch. But I now love puff quilts. I would love your ideas for putting a queen size puff quilt together on a normal sewing machine. I have made 4 so far, Thank you for all of your videos!

I remember those rabbit holes you sent me down years ago. Funny thing I am in the same spot you are. Love hand stitching although have 6 sewing machines, I still love hand stitching. Maybe because that's because my dad taught me to hand sew at 4yrs old. Supposedly the same age his mom taught him to start sewing on buttons.🥰☃️☃️☃️

So I love you too. And I love the idea of somewhat organizing my projects into designated days and keeping a journal of what’s what. So my start will be to cut and kit some of this fabric I’ve got and be ready to get some done. And maybe have a day every 3-4 weeks designated as a cut and kit day to keep things going and not spend so much time on a daily basis wondering what to do instead of doing! 😅 At least it’s a goal 😊, thanks Anna ❤. Have a great week and Happy New Year. 🎉

Thanks for the shout out Anna but I was talking about the 3 books I bought about cross sitting organizing and planning, now you have me going down the rabbit hole looking for quilt planning journals.
I used have a lined hard cover notebook that I used as a diary of the quilting I was doing. So if I took a workshop or lecture I would do a synopsis. I also tracked quilt shops that I visited. WIPS, Finished quilts I think was another category. But I do have to get my quilting life in order. We have a quilt show in May and I have one done and two more I’d like to do. I’m almost finished hand quilting one and the other needs some machine quilting and then both labels.

Anna, there are some wonderful quilt tracking planners available! Sherri McConnell has one, Lori Holt has one and Fat Quarter Shop carries several. One Canoe Two also has a couple I believe. Make it easier for yourself with a specific one! Love your TH-cam videos!

Last year, I got a white board and hung it inside my closet in my sewing room. I wrote down all my WIPs and also a list of new projects. I crossed them out as they were completed and I learned a lot from doing this. First, I learned that I had way too many WIPs and if they were too old or I wasn’t interested in finishing them, I passed them on to my quilt group. The same went for the new projects. I found that I finished all but one of my WIPs and most of my new projects. I just erased it and am starting fresh for the New Year. I’ve found that I have less WIPs (only 9) and less new projects (6) for this year. This has really worked well for me and I’m excited to get started on both WIPs and new projects. The only thing I will do different this coming year, is take a photo of my list at the beginning of the year and at the end of year to see my accomplishments! Welcome 2025 and Happy New Year to you and G, Anna!

My goal is to adapt your designated stitch idea to quilting. Going to make a checkerboard quilt using a common background strip and add scrap squares across the whole strip. . Plan to do one a day using scraps already cut and goodness knows I have oodles of them. Each strip will be cut between scraps and made into large blocks which will make putting them together easier. Love these quilts and it will be fun for me. Thank you for all the videos you make.

I have watched you since “the beginning”. You have taught me so many things and opened my mind to so many quilting options, sashiko, wool, embroidery, project bags, quilts, pillowcases and the list goes on. My husband knows your voice and we both love hearing you. You have broadened my horizons and I like you are “knee deep” in it. I have always had a list of completed projects, in process projects, projects I would like to do separated by style and so on…this month I threw the paper away. My mind processed the unfinished projects as failures (my brain). I feel a great weight was lifted. My projects are kitted so all I have to do is pull one off the shelf. All that tracking took up too much mental space. Your ufo’s, almost completed projects are stunning. Remember your very large tree cross stitch? Perhaps you can do that with your quilting, a dedicated quilt. I was surprised how quickly you completed that and so worth the effort.

Spargo’s Home Grown was one of my Covid epidemic projects. That was the best time to work on it!! I didn’t use a kit, I used a heavy linen for the backgrounds and wool and fabrics from my stash for the houses, trees, etc. I LOVED the project and I LOVE my quilt.

The Dictionary of Lost Words is an excellent read! I read it a year ago and gifted it to my niece. It started a little slow, but the story is awesome! 🤩 What's that statue over your left shoulder? 🤔 I wish I could journal; I tried last year and failed miserably. 😂 I've cut strips for a string quilt and want to make an FPP woven star quilt too! Got the foundation pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop. 🧵 Happy & Healthy New Year! 🎉 PS: I just finished reading The Hidden Thread by Liz Trenow which I recommend.

‘The Dictionary of Lost Words’ sounds so very thought provoking, as is the story of your Father in Law being a typesetter. I appreciate your sharing this. You inspire me to rethink my quilting plans. I’ve never been a list maker or planner, but I think I need to start. I’ve always been afraid to gather all my quilt UFOs, but I need to make a plan of sorts to get older things finished and not just get excited by new. We’ll see how that works out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on organizing your projects! Happy New Year! 🎉

I have been mulling over some ideas for my quilting life so this was good to watch. I pull my Cuppa kits out a few times a year but get so overwhelmed with the prospect of finishing. My dad was a type setter and did a lot of work for the state of Michigan.
I think I’m going to do the same thing that you suggested taking a day for wool, a day for embroidery a day for paper piecing, quilting etc. that sounds like a workable plan. Sounds good anyway. You are so amazing and put together.
I know you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the amount of projects you have. You were a nurse - I think you need to have every single one of those projects to keep your mind active. It is good for you to have choices.
You are very organized- a lot of us would not have our quilts “kitted”.
Remember you don’t have to have a separate journal for each type of project. You can have a journal for all of it- you just need lots of stars!!🌟
Looking forward to your word and color for the new year!!

I fell in love with that quilt the first time you showed it in a video, haven't seen it for a time and was concerned you had finished it and I had missed it. Hello Anna! If I remember correctly, didn’t you have a wall hanging of circles from Sue Spargo? Did you finish it and if so when? I would like to rewatch that episode of Quilt Roadies as I loved that idea and yours was way cool. I remember seeing you work on it in your little house in Arizona. Happy New Year to you and G! 🎉
