1: Don’t store Lipo batteries in the house!
    2. Buy a dvm/multimeter, and learn how to use it!
All my students under 12 master this, so no excuses😎
    3. Flux is the magic sauce for soldering, especially for beginners. Helping hands, self-gripping tweezers, blu-tac for holding your work.

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

Great advice. Thank you. The only tough one is the 'storing lipo in the house'. Outside, it can be subjected to extreme temperatures in some regions and lipos don't like that. Also, some housing doesn't have a lot of outdoor space.

Traxxas Multi Tool Kit which has all your standard hex’s and drivers. Also DeWalt DCF680 Cordless Screwdriver is a MUST.
    Tool Bag
    Replacement Gears (Pinion and Spur)
    Traxxas tool kit

    Spare AA & AAA batteries
Container of miscellaneous screws, nuts, bolts, body clips and washers (Shims)

Last but not least leatherman multi tool. IMO it’s an upgraded Swiss Army Knife

I suggest a follow up video proper storage of each type of vehicle. For example: Boats upside down to dry out, cars/trucks off their tires, and drones separate from their batteries. One of the things people use now instead of a compressor is a device which was originally designed to blow the dust out of computers and now its used to clean the dirt and debris from r/c cars. It's small and handy, but you need a source of power.

One other thing for the list that is very important to me is a place to keep all of my manuals . As RC hobbyists we all have a ton of owners manuals, weather they are from our rigs , the parts we put in them or even our tools, we all have an abundance of owners manuals. I use a small 3 drawer filing cabinet for this purpose and it works perfect without taking up to much room sitting under my workbench.

    • @RCReviewChannel

ONXY makes a nice all around tool set that I always bring on the trails or bashing. I added the Traxxas multi-tool, Traxxas wheel wrench ( damn those fancy wheel nuts) and a safety pin...I use this to dig out whatever dirt is in the hex since that ALWAYS leads to stripped hardware. The MIP wrenches never leave the house or get loaned out.

Temperature of the soldering iron is less important than the size of the tip. Small tip = less stored energy that it can transfer into the solder joint. Large tip = plenty of energy to dump into the solder joint. The Weller SP80NUS is just about perfect for RC power connections using 10 and 12 gauge wire.

When you’re putting together a tool bag to take with you, try only working with what’s in it at home for a couple projects.
Pretty soon you will have everything in it you will likely need.
I don’t carry much for spare parts or tools when crawling, but bashing I pretty much take all my tools and most of the spare parts I have.

For RC stuff, which is mostly just wires and connectors, a cheap unregulated soldering iron of something like 50 watts is perfectly adequate. Of course a good soldering station is a joy to use and great if you do any other electronic stuff but not really necessary for just RC.

I just have a set of drivers, 5.5 wrench, 7 mm wrench, Needle nose pliers, Temp gun, a small parts bin, magnetic tray for body clips, etc. A 3/8 socket (for the bigger bashers) all in a toolbag. I also throw a few T wrenches in there, keep on in my packet if I'm running a crawler

All those things come in handy. Don’t forget glue gun & cordless Dremel with different bits & cutting head. Q tips micro fiber towels. Magnetic trays. I have a TroyLee back pack that has a bunch of pockets of various sizes all over. I bring tools some batteries brushes needle nose pliers wheel wrenches small plastic container with compartments for screws servo horn body clips mini socket fifth sockets that fit wheel nuts & any special wheel tools needed if needed to remove wheels. Two sided tape electrical tape zip ties. Glasses to see very close up. Go Pro Pepper spray because you never know when out doors in the public. And bug repellent. By the way I live in Ca. & rattlesnakes are out all the time so watching where your stepping & keeping your senses on alert are needed. I would like to put in a ear bud but ya wanna make sure your aware of your surroundings.

🤔what about hex drivers? MIP hex drivers the only way to go and will save a lot of frustration with installing and removing hex head bolts.

I swear by my bosch screwdriver and drill for this kind of light work.

May sound funny but I carry my tools and parts in a hipsack it's easy to get too and carry

The hip pack has taken over mountain biking now. It's so much more comfortable, ventilated and convenient. Not big storage capacity but works well for small loads.

2mm and larger hex wrenches all seem okay but for 1.5mm and smaller I don't trust anything other than MIP. Might as well just stick to their hex wrenches only.

And it's key to have the same handle on all one's wrenches for good transitions.
