- They stumbled upon it by accident and they honestly couldn't tell you where they were or how they got there. It was cooler here than outside the labyrinth of caves they had walked through and the air smelled of dust and forgotten memories. Their footsteps echoed off the crumbling, once proud, walls as they made their way into the empty throne room whose sole occupant was the skeleton sitting upon its golden throne. Eternal guardian of this now-forgotten palace.

I get you, we are slowly renovating our house as well and for about two months there were constantly plumbers, electricians, technicians in our house, and you spend half the time cleaning, moving stuff around, trying not to be in their way... Some ambitious civilization must've tried to establish a kingdom in the desert. Building their city in this canyon is a good way to beat the desert heat.
But a desert is still a desert. Hard to make food here, isn't it?
It is fascinating to me how some civilizations disappeared or moved far away due to extreme weather... like several dry years, or vulcanic dust changing the weather only for couple of years, or several rainy years that caused too much flooding.
So maybe there used to be a river nearby that was sudenly redirected by an earthquaqe and they lost their only source of water, who knows...

I don't want to use AI. I am on a hunt for a large library with epic fantasy art for months now, I would like to pay for non-exclusive license per piece, or a subscription, but I didn't find anything good yet. Do you have some recomendations? I would be very grateful.

But, there’s plenty options like stock photos (Shutterstock for example), game artwork, D&D artwork etc. Many artists will be happy enough to let you borrow their art with credit and links to their pages, or take commissions if you’re so inclined. There’s so many alternatives to AI, please do everything you can to avoid it. It’s unethical and a scam

Then alternatively, D&D books are full of art that are seemingly fair game with credit. And as I said already there are plenty artists who are happy to have their work borrowed with credit, or commissioned. Video game screenshots of open world locations could also work.
Also I just want to say, myself and plenty other artists appreciate it so much that you’re seeking alternatives, please keep trying 💜
