Its speculated that he have been born in Jazirat ibn Umar (Called Cizre now), where he got the name Jazari from or Al-Jazira which was used to denote Upper Mesopotamia

It's not his real name, it's the name by which people called him because of his birthplace. It was common at the time to call people by the names of their fathers or eldest children(thus Abu al-Izz ibn Ismael), as well as by their place of birth, the tribe they originated from, etc. Ik I'm really late but I hope that helps :)

Da Vinci was more of a polymath, but he was working on the shoulders of giants. And one of those giants is probably al-Jazari. Al-Jazari also built on others before him from different cultures like Persian, Greek, Chinese and/or Indian.
There is only human culture, and different human cultures build on and influence each other. We should embrace each other!
