I have to commend you. I have watched 7 different videos and none of the other videos that I watched cover the work around of the obc as thoroughly as you did. Thank you. It's giving me problems.
Glad it was helpful, I personally have learned a lot from other videos out there, and personally knowing some of the guys that do the videos. Once your friends see your Eco Battery and fall in love with it, be sure to send them my way! Thanks again for the nice comments!
Hi! I would just like to let you know that I convert my 2009 Club Car Precedent with Vatrer 48 V 105 AH battery. As far as OBC goes I did not cut /splice or jump any of the wires that you are talking about. However, I did disconnect original charging port with wires (red, black and grey and replaced with adapter to new charger and 120 volts hook up by extension cord. I did disconnect one of the wires to warning/charging lite on the dash beside ignition switch. I did make test run and everything looks good and cart performance is great. I am writing this to exchange experience with you and if this could help you in any way in future.... I do appreciate people like you that makes videos and help other people. Thank you!
Hi Marc, yes, it sounds like everything you did will be just fine! The reason I like to bypass the OBC is they have been known to be problematic after 10-15 years or so. So we’re just trying to fix a problem before it happens. The primary function of the OBC is to operate a factory charger and if you’re not using a power drive charger why keep it in there? While it’s fine as long as the OBC is allowing Current to go through it (even when it’s not operating a factory charger ), if you’re in there it is so simple to bypass… I like to eliminate future problems! What a difference these carts are with lithium power, right! Thanks again for the compliments and I hope both yours and my responses help others out there that dive into the the installs 🔋💪
This is the best video I've watched to do this conversion . I watched your video then I watched it step-by-step to do my 2013 CCP . I can't thank you enough
that is a LED light kit. A lot of the Chinese light kits will change colors so that will hook into your 13.5 V out on your voltage reducer so the headlights only work when the key switch is cut on. Any other questions feel free to give me a shout!
I have recently contacted James on installing my Eco 51.5V 105 AH Battery. On 2 ISSUES, one being Major. 1st minor issues was battery gauge not working. Two videos on TH-cam did not show charger cable connecting to battery 90 degree screw fitting from gauge. There are 2 connectors at battery end connecting to battery attached to harness. One of the connectors, doesn't matter which on needs to go to connector on Charger or battery will give false readings. 2ND Major issue is connecting previous deluxe lighting kit. This was my fault but I didn't have 12 volts connected from inverter to lighting system. I connected 48volts and it blew out the front headlights and rear tail lights. I got a hold of James and he helped me solve the issue. You need the blur OR red wire, one with a 20 amp fuse in it hooked up to inverter with black negative in same harness. It is located in the harness before the "Y" SPLIT going to rear tail lights. I ordered and installed new headlight and tail lights. They work fine except Blinkers don't work. We are working on this issue, probably flasher relay got blown out. James is an exemplary person and is HIGHLY APPRECIATED for helping me with my problems.
I’m glad I was able to help! There’s been a lot of unnamed people that helped me as I learned this stuff also, things are a little different working with more than 12 V! But the Golf Cart community is full of good helpful folks! Thank you for the nice comments and Welcome to the team!
In the video you removed the black wire when you removed the OBC, however that wire was attacehd to a black wire in the harness. Should this remaining black wire in the harness be attached to the neg (12-) on the 12C Converter? Great video and thanks for all your help!
The OBC is designed to control your OEM battery charger, since you don’t need it to control any battery charger , it is kind of useless. A lot of folks like to bypass it just to eliminate anything in the future that may disrupt the factory controler. According to Eco Battery, if it works leave it alone, if it creates a problem with your controller then bypass it

awesome! Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Thanks James!
YW! Be sure to SUBSCRIBE, and tell your friend to also!
What is the blue wire that turns to red at 3:18 on the video? And how do you hook it up to the lithium battery? Is it a fuse?

Did you happen to find out if that black wire needed to have something done other than just tossing out?
Sorry for the late response, Did you get it figured out?
what is the purpose of the by pass wire
To keep the car running when the OBC finally fails!😃
What is the benefit of bypassing the OBC? Can you leave it?

@@Kartznfartz Thank you for the info.
