Taylor writes AMAZING bridges. She really excels at it. Shes known for it. The thing with Taylor is the songs they pick to make singles arent typically her best songs. Which is very frustrating. So the general public says "shes not talented" or "i hate pop".... But shes more than what you hear on the radio. So much more.

The first time I heard this song, it completely caught me off-guard, since I'm usually not into Taylor Swift's music. But you know what they say: Credit where credit is due. I like it. =)
A lot of people who proclaim they aren’t into Taylor Swift’s music just haven’t heard all of it. If all I had heard was Love Story and Shake it Off I’d say she’s not for me either. But she has soooo many songs, covering so many genres and all of them have clever lyrics, some of them truly brilliant. I believe she has at least one or two songs in her back catalogue to suit everybody’s tastes. Glad you dug this one.
Yes yes yes! I've studied voice since I was in school and sung in various internationally competitive choirs... Her breath control is 100% professional quality standard. It's so damn good. Her phrasing is excellent. Her articulation is excellent. And the texture she can get into her vocal is also really very, very good. She's also developed a stunning alto register as she's gotten older and her falsetto is still really good. She might not have the complete flair of an Adele, Florence Welch or Beyonce... But I also can't think of anyone who sounds like her. Or who can even do a good impression of her. Her voice is so much her own. Also, I have also played piano for years and I certainly cannot play and sing at the same time to the level that Taylor can. She doesn't miss a damn beat. She controls the pace to perfection and even though her playing can lean to the "simple", it is still varied enough to do justice to her songs. And she's been going it professionally since she was 16/17.
Taylor has excellent breath control, I gasp when i try to sing along 😂. I love her work as a writer and producer. She has created so many beautiful melodies as well. People do not give her enough credit.
Cornelia Street and Daylight from this same Paris concert are PHENOMENAL. Must sees for sure. I could watch the performances from this concert a million times and not get sick of them.

She did this song on the Eras tour during the acoustic set. It’s in the tour movie if you want to see her play guitar by herself in a stadium of about 70k and see her stage presence. You might also want to see her on piano on the Eras tour playing Champagne Problems

I so appreciated the Fiona Apple comparison. In the 90s, Fiona’s wordplay blew my mind. I used to hand write her lyrics down before Google was a thing - I saw it as poetry. Taylor has that same skill but because she was successful at 15, writing songs like Love Story, music elitists write her off as not being credible. Her old stuff was brilliant for a kid and definitely deserves to be lauded for what it is but her songwriting skills as a grown ass woman are astounding. Thanks for this ❤

I just noticed how quickly she reloads her lungs during the bridge. Wow. Such deep breaths super quick to stay on tempo. She has some of the best bridges, you should look up a list of her best bridges and work your way through the live version of those. So good 😩
Thanks, Mark! Great reaction and great song choice! I've shown this performance to people who only know her pop/radio songs and "don't get the Taylor hype", and they all kinda fall in love after she kills that bridge. Thanks again!

HA your existential crisis at the end was my favourite thing ever lo. It's my favourite part of seeing anyone else get into Taylor, experiencing that song where we're like "how can anyone listen to that and think it's shit... wait I didn't want to like this... I didn't realise I could like a Taylor song this much? Are all of her lyrics like this??..." etc. lol but that quiet moment of disbelief, yet undeniable feeling from one of her songs is just so fun to witness haha.
^^ This is exactly why I watch TS reactions, and why I've kept coming back here. Also, it's even more fun to watch him realize it in real time. I think the moment someone *truly* becomes a Swiftie is when they defend her or praise her out in the wild. Mark was a Swiftie way before he could accept the truth and admit it to himself.😆 And I'm so proud of all my fellow Swifties who've been kind and welcoming!
Funny thing; This song was based on a book (movie? i forgot which) that was inspired by ANOTHER taylor song “Clean” from the 1989 album. It was a cycle of Taylor inspiring an artist to create something and then Taylor being inspired by that same person. Full circle

MARK IS HAVING AN ALL-TAYLOR STREAM THIS TUESDAY ON HIS TWITCH!! Follow him with your notification on so you don’t miss it!!! twitch.tv/markabusireactions
I think your interpretation was great. 😊 Ignore the folks who try to tell you the “right” way to interpret a Swift song. One of the great things about her, like other strong singer/songwriters, is that there are often several ways to interpret any given song. Sure, there’s what was specifically on her mind when she wrote it, but she often leaves them broad enough that people can also apply their own interpretation.
I would be willing to bet that Taylor is a fan of Dashboard Confessional. She loves and is inspired by other emo bands like Fallout Boy, Paramore and Panic at the Disco. She is of that generation. I saw her sing this live on the Eras tour and it wasn’t nearly as good as this. It helps when the sound is edited to actually hear her. The other good one from this night is “Cornelia Street”. Both of these songs are way better in this format than on the album.
❤ May I suggest Taylor's Tiny Desk Concert...very intimate or Taylor singing Better Man at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee maybe that is more of what you are looking for...great reaction dude!
This is my favorite version of this song. It’s a huge banger that you’d be hard pressed to not like. Too funny “I don’t want to like Taylor Swift”. Here’s the beginning of your transition! 🪪 New subscriber! ✌🏻
btw, "rock guys" who don't like Taylor Swift are just offended she writes from the viewpoint of a young woman. What were "Hot for Teacher" and "You Shook Me All Night Long" about...world peace? The population is half female, so a female view of life is just as valid as a man's. Those who can't handle that fact have a tantrum and diss Taylor. Those who understand that fact, recognize her musical genius....and that would include the Recording Academy of the US, which has given her more Album of the Year Grammys than any other artist in history. I enjoyed your reaction (and your accent!).
oh and to answer your question where this ranks in my fav TS songs...it is impossible to pick a favorite TS song. She has a song and a genre for every mood, and your fav song depends on the day. I dare you to find a bad TS song. Always follow along with the lyrics, since she is the poet of a generation (google "Is it Taylor Swift or Shakespeare?" and play the game and see how you do 😉)
DBATC - certainly in top 2 of Lover and in top 12 of her songs - but she has so many styles it’s really hard to say even that - it’s def a fave and I always love her live - you may enjoy her original Haunted live performance from the Speak Now Tour!
I love a man who can admit he was wrong! Welcome to the Swift lyrical rabbit hole. Ignore the few toxic Swifties. There are much more cool, supportive Swifties. Great, sincere reaction. This song is in my top 5 Taylor songs. Her live versions are always better, in my opinion. ❤❤❤
Loved this reaction. ♥️ Went back and watched your others too, pleeease finish your Folklore reactions! Loved them. Perfectly authentic, what a reaction video should be! Don’t let the crazy swifties put you off, some swifties are too sensitive for reaction videos! You don’t have to know the name of Taylor’s cats to listen and react to her songs. Knowing the background is great but Taylor herself literally says that yes, a lot of her songs are from personal experience but she wants people to relate to the songs and her writing in whichever way they can. ❤
I haven't made it through your whole channel to see if you've reacted to "Cornelia Street" yet, but this version I'm linking is from the same live concert in Paris as Death By A Thousand Cuts. I think this Cornelia Street performance is just amazing where she connects a new relationship to an apartment she was renting on Cornelia Street in NYC. I always turn on the CC to see the lyrics captioned because otherwise I get lost in the music! My favorite line is "we were a fresh page on the desk filling in the blanks as we go..." th-cam.com/video/Vgt1d3eAm7A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I33slUEZzBh5LYPl
Havent come across you before, but i liked your video AND your comment section, so I'm subbing! Id recommend Out of the Woods (grammy MUSEUM performance)! Its so vastly reimagined that its almost a different song.

@markabusireactions I know the perfect stadium-setting, stripped back song for you-- Dancing With Our Hands Tied from the Reputation Tour on Netflix. It'd be sweet to see a double feature where you listen to the produced album version (you won't like it haha, followed by the tour version which I think you'll LOVE). As a Swiftie, I didnt care for the song until I saw the tour version, then I appreciated the album version and it grew on me.
Ooh interestingly, there is a version of this song at Eras in SoFi in front of almost 80,000 people! She's done this song at least twice (and screwed up the bridge once, which was adorable; she does 2 or more, mashed up now, songs acoustically from her back catalogue each tour, and she's done over 100 of them now, so she sometimes messes up as she practices them that day before the performance! The clip of her flubbing it is on TH-cam and it's just darling), and says it's one of her favorites. The studio version is super weird, I prefer the acoustic. There's way too much going on and it obscures the lyricism in the studio version.
Another beautiful stripped down performance, which is a favorite of mine is "The Archer" done at the BBC Lounge. I think you might like it. Your reactions always brighten my day!

I love “Death by a Thousand Cuts”. I’m off to go see what other reactions you’ve done now.
@@markabusireactions It’s definitely not acoustic, and you’ll have to keep in mind that it’s off the album she wrote entirely solo at age 19 (which is also about the age she is when performing it), but with that under consideration, I think it’s great. And the performance is so cool. I feel like it’s one of her underrated early songs. Not as impressive as “The Outside” (because she wrote that one at age 12 and recorded it at 15), but definitely one of my favorites. Do you have a donation request feature to request those two, actually? 🤔
@@MoyaoftheMist basically it kinda just all happens when I’m live on twitch, people tend to just come in and request them there. Or I have a patreon where you can get requests 🤷♂️

I was under the impression she was inspired to write the song after watching "Someone Great" on Netflix. And I think the writer of Someone Great used Taylor songs as inspiration when making the film. It was like a whole full circle thing. Which I find adorable, and sooooo very Taylor.
New subscriber here... i hope you have a different opinion of her pop songs now. I think youll like all her albums from speak now to present. At least the majority of the songs
I'm just here for the science, man. I don't like the trappings of pop music. I don't like it when music sounds like it came out of a lab rather than real people. Any artist, send them out like this? If they can go, they can go. Taylor Swift can go. I don't want to listen to her more poppy stuff, but I can respect the hard work she's put in to be great.
@@markabusireactionsNo, not at all, that's why this was ... I started to say "so good," which is true, but probably more accurate would be "more to my tastes."
Taylor swift is as far from a lab that you can possibly get. She is an incredible lyricist and songwriter, singer and performer regardless if she is doing a big production or acustic sets, only people who never actually understood her deep, multilayered lyrics or seen her perform would say such a thing. There is a reason there are so many college courses only for dissecting her lyrics right now. She is a master writer regardless what production (pop, rock, indie, folk, country) she puts on her songs and they are all amazing acustic.
@crabuki1273 I'm curious to know if you've seen her movie "The Long Pond Sessions"? If not, then I'd be curious to hear your thoughts about those songs (the folklore album). Here are two examples, in case you have no idea what I'm talking about: Taylor Swift - this is me trying (the long pond studio sessions) th-cam.com/video/s2EvrDYRHvk/w-d-xo.html My Tears Ricochet (Long Pond Sessions) th-cam.com/video/Idjs-hw7Spg/w-d-xo.html
The hair tossing looks forced. Nothing wrong with hair tossing but it seems disingenuous when she does it. She doesn’t need it. The song and performance stands on its own.
This is off of “Lover”, by far my least favorite album by her. IMO this song and Cornelia street were ruined by the production but the acoustic versions from this show are sublime If you like this, I think you’ll really love Cornelia Street live in Paris
do not resist the calling.... mother(aka tay tay, taylor )can convert anyone!! 'cause she is just FREAKING talented, and works her ass off welcome to the club She is amazing at storytelling, literaly stories with caracters in songs, just amazing. @@markabusireactions oh, not you! I meant Taylor's 1989 tour film. 😅
@@teszter704 I said what I said!
You should definitely check out “Cornelia Street’ from this same show . It’s freaking amazing . You’d love it !
If you're interested, Mark will be doing a live reaction stream on Twitch on Monday at 6pm EST. Join us and request it to watch in real time!

Hiya Jamie!! It’s me dauntless ❤
If you're interested, Mark will be doing a live reaction stream on Twitch on Monday at 6pm EST. Would love if you could join us!
Thanks. I’ll see if I can make it. 😊
@@JenniferDomitrovits-xu9df Tell your friends!! 💜
TS is such a good lyricist, lots of word plays, easter eggs and poetry, I didn't want to like her too, but I finally did!
The whole Paris show is fantastic. Especially Cornelia Street and Daylight, IMO. But they’re all sooo good
I'm gonna get him to react to Cornelia Street one of these days...
Seeing you become a swifty during one of my favorite songs 🤌
I would be willing to bet that Taylor is a fan of Dashboard Confessional. She loves and is inspired by other emo bands like Fallout Boy, Paramore and Panic at the Disco. She is of that generation. I saw her sing this live on the Eras tour and it wasn’t nearly as good as this. It helps when the sound is edited to actually hear her. The other good one from this night is “Cornelia Street”. Both of these songs are way better in this format than on the album.
Tbf, the first Panic album is an absolute banger
Taylor is a self-proclaimed Emo kid, so you'd be right.

Look up Taylor swift and Chris Carrabba. She had him come to her best friend’s birthday party to perform “hands down”.
❤ May I suggest Taylor's Tiny Desk Concert...very intimate or Taylor singing Better Man at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee maybe that is more of what you are looking for...great reaction dude!
Thank you!!
i second the bluebird performance
also, we can do evermore from the eras tour acoustic set!
@@Augustine0899 this performance is one of my favorite Eras acoustic performances period. The bridge alone.
@@IvyCowboy same. i prefer it to the og song tbh
What do you think about the great war as an example of her lyricism? I think it'll be a good one
@@Augustine0899 Love The Great War. I actually think Midnights has some of her best writing.
This is my favorite version of this song. It’s a huge banger that you’d be hard pressed to not like. Too funny “I don’t want to like Taylor Swift”. Here’s the beginning of your transition! 🪪
New subscriber! ✌🏻
Thank you!!
Hilarious! Your Otoboke Beaver reaction led to this one!😂😂😂
Hey I’m nothing if not eclectic! Good luck guessing where this channel is going 😂
@markabusireactions hehe, you're not the only freak who likes T Swift AND Otoboke Beaver!😎✌️
btw, "rock guys" who don't like Taylor Swift are just offended she writes from the viewpoint of a young woman.
Taylor has a song with Imogen Heap you might like called Clean. Also, Dashboard Confessional FOREVER!!!
I ask the traffic lights if it will be alright they say "I don't know"
oh and to answer your question where this ranks in my fav TS songs...it is impossible to pick a favorite TS song.
Thank you!! ☺️☺️
"You don’t have to know the name of Taylor’s cats to listen and react to her songs."
Hey girl hey 💜hope to see you at the livestream!!
@@IvyCowboy If I’m awake, I’ll be there! 🎉
Haven’t heard that one yet, it’s in the pipeline!
Havent come across you before, but i liked your video AND your comment section, so I'm subbing! Id recommend Out of the Woods (grammy MUSEUM performance)! Its so vastly reimagined that its almost a different song.
Thank you!! My comment section is hammy me telling everyone to F off 😂😂
@markabusireactions I prefer reactors that tell me to F off over ones too lofty to interact with us viewers 😉 I'm checking out your Taylor Playlist next!
@@amandam.4841 oh I try and at least like every comment! Even if I don’t have time to respond to them all, I at least want everyone to know I read them all ☺️
@markabusireactions I know the perfect stadium-setting, stripped back song for you-- Dancing With Our Hands Tied from the Reputation Tour on Netflix. It'd be sweet to see a double feature where you listen to the produced album version (you won't like it haha, followed by the tour version which I think you'll LOVE). As a Swiftie, I didnt care for the song until I saw the tour version, then I appreciated the album version and it grew on me.
If you're interested, Mark will be doing a live request/reaction stream on Twitch on Monday at 6pm EST. Would love if you could join us!
It happens to everyone. Taylor is crazy talented especially with lyrics
Okay but does she have a forklift licence?
@@markabusireactions I mean I’m sure she could arrange it. 😂😂😂
Another beautiful stripped down performance, which is a favorite of mine is "The Archer" done at the BBC Lounge. I think you might like it.
Your reactions always brighten my day!

Ooh, love that performance!
Has anybody made you watch the Speak Now Tour version of “Haunted” yet? It seems that I missed a request livestream because you only showed up on my feed today… If someone made you watch that, though, I definitely want to watch that reaction, haha.
I love “Death by a Thousand Cuts”. I’m off to go see what other reactions you’ve done now.
They haven’t requested that one for me yet!
Or I have a patreon where you can get requests 🤷♂️
funny you should mention taking her songs and putting a spin on them.... you need to listen to We are never ever getting back together 1989 Tour Live. Go in cold. Enjoy.
Her Live? Eclipses any studio version
welp if you wanna see taylor in stadium,
watch "Cruel Summer" live from the eras tour

One more thing
Holy shit I love this channel! ❤😅

Is she emo? Well she is comparing saying goodbye to a type of imperial Chinese torture soooo ya?
It’s about one of her friend’s relationships
I was under the impression she was inspired to write the song after watching "Someone Great" on Netflix. And I think the writer of Someone Great used Taylor songs as inspiration when making the film. It was like a whole full circle thing. Which I find adorable, and sooooo very Taylor.
New subscriber here... i hope you have a different opinion of her pop songs now. I think youll like all her albums from speak now to present. At least the majority of the songs
If you want to react to stage presence watch the opening to the Reputation Stadium Tour!!
Are You Ready For It? and I did Something Bad
He's done I Did Something Bad - it should be on the Taylor playlist. 😉
Tbf when she’s doing songs like this I don’t get the lab vibe at all
@@markabusireactionsNo, not at all, that's why this was ...
Here are two examples, in case you have no idea what I'm talking about:
Taylor Swift - this is me trying (the long pond studio sessions)

My Tears Ricochet (Long Pond Sessions)
th-cam.com/video/Idjs-hw7Spg/w-d-xo.html
At first read I was unsure if that was the song title or your reaction :p .
The lover album's production is just unfortunate in my opinion, these songs sound so much better stripped back
The hair tossing looks forced. Nothing wrong with hair tossing but it seems disingenuous when she does it. She doesn’t need it. The song and performance stands on its own.
I always find it a little cringe - although it looks amazing in photos.
This is off of “Lover”, by far my least favorite album by her. IMO this song and Cornelia street were ruined by the production but the acoustic versions from this show are sublime
If you like this, I think you’ll really love Cornelia Street live in Paris
"She's a decent guitar player?" That's hilarious. Just decent? 🙄
Compared to like Jimi Hendrix? Yes. She’s decent.
Your accent is so strong. Thank god for the auto-sub. ❤
do not resist the calling.... mother(aka tay tay, taylor )can convert anyone!!
'cause she is just FREAKING talented, and works her ass off
welcome to the club
She is amazing at storytelling, literaly stories with caracters in songs, just amazing.
There is one about a young couple whose love is 'TIMELESS' (name of the song), she says at the end
"Time breaks down your mind and body
Don't you let it touch your soul" puuure poetry 💜
