When I moved to NYC almost 15 years ago (wow, time flies!) I was fortunate enough to study briefly with the great living-legend Reggie Workman (shout out to the New School fam) who, if you don’t know already, toured with many legends like Art Blakey and John Coltrane. In his ensemble class, Reggie would describe the energy of playing with Coltrane’s quartet as like stirring a pot, and he would gesture in a way that was mystical and dramatic. What Coltrane did to take his music into a spiritual realm has had a profound impact on culture that truly goes beyond words. Grateful that I got to experience the wisdom of someone so deeply connected to his music.
This shows you didn't have a window seat in Workman's class. You really paid attention bruh. Great work! I tryna be like you when I grow up.🎷🎷🎷
Chad is on a saxophonic mission which is the reincarnation 🎷 of the great masters, so to say.❤
Fantastic; great connections, and beautiful performance, as usual!
Bro I had forgotten about him gesturing stirring the big pot 😂 absolute legend.
I like how Chad gets his steps in while he's playing.
Beautiful piano solo
I love Holger at the piano, very cool!
Serious chops Chad, so refreshing to see younger players 'getting' Coltrane, fabulous rendition by all involved. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow wow wow incredible, i really love this quartet chad, and this guy at the piano 😮 just like you on tenor 😂
ALL THE WOWS..😂
I love u, Chad❤
Thanks for watching!! ❤️
Insane Version... Unbelievable Band
Holger Marjamaa is absolutely killin' it on the keys.
This had a power somewhere between Michael and Mephistopheles. The lighting was right on, the band was perfectly in tune and balanced and yet menacing, you were brilliant, and both you and your man on the piano sublimely mixing between the melodic and the percussive, and loved the extended phrasing. The first rhing i did after listening to this was listen again, just out of pure enjoyment.... Always a good sign. What a terrific rendition; I may even have to revisit some bad habits to enjoy eith this one! 😂🎉❤
Thanks so much, Barry! That really means a lot. So glad you enjoyed it!
Some GREAT bad habits to revisit though, eh?
Love this
i think you just melted my face off
Thank you!!!
Exactly dear Chad! Coltrane was mystical and dramatic and...somewhere else...🙏
Thank You so much for Your effort!!! I appreciate it very much🙏
This is awesome!
Thank you!!
Killed it 🔥🎷🔥🎷
I definitely hear a bit of inspiration from Branford's recording at Amsterdam on this. Nicely done.
YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS😍😍😍
Inspired and inspiring stuff here, man. Thank you.
Thank you!!
love hearing these tunes! I would love to hear straphangin or a brecker tune!
Thanks, Derek!! We have a big band version of Straphangin’ out :)
@@ChadLefkowitzBrown oh no kidding i must have missed it!
Chad LB!!!! This set definitely had that Trane energy and your ideas took it to that next plane spittin fire 🔥 🔥🔥 Glad you got to experience Reggie Workman, a true treasure and living legend! I think you should try a wireless clip mic…you about wandered off!!! ❤❤❤
Awesome Brother .. sound is amazing .. what mouthpiece are you using brother
Monsters!🤩🤩🤩
Thanks for watching!!
I love how you're recreating His sound timbre)
Congrats on 100 k btw)
Beautiful! The swing/be-bop phrasing feel of the piano and sax solos gives a nuance different from the original. Maybe a little more "down to earth."
Bravo!
on fire 🔥
Killin🔥🔥🔥
Resucita Coltrane, en cual quier lugar que estes¡¡
🔥🔥🔥👏
🔥🔥
The cats are smoking and swinging!
Must be McCoy Tyner on 🎹 😅😅😅. And lots of celebrities on one sax🎷.
Bet they followed this with something like my foolish heart 😂😂
Let's see what he's playing
How did you know I've been making this time the last few days? Are you tracking me like goggle?
I was counting on interesting sounds and innovative solutions. I didn't hear it in either the pianist's or the saxophonist's solo. Where to follow the melody. Why can't you go beyond tonal harmony and listen to each other? Such musicians should introduce new solutions. It couldn't even compare to Chick Corea's Three Quartets. Not to mention the development of Coltrane's music. So you have a long school ahead of you. Music, music and more music has to come first here, so follow it. For now, music is serving you. You are the ones who have to serve the music. Then maybe you can play some music.
I am sorry Stefan but your comment is too much smartass and is missing respect to the musicans in my eyes.
This genuinely has to be the stupidest comment I have ever read. I would LOVEEE to see you do even a 1/4 of what they’re doing.
So fucking tastey😂
Please consider a clip on mic... for everything you do (i want more😊).... playing like that should never not be mic'd up in all your fantastic glory.
.. WE WANT TO HEAR IT! ... more work for your editor/ producer, sure, but more JOY for all us plebs that love what you do. KEEP ON DOING YOU! we fucking love it. ❤ it's not 1965 anymore, and it's not cool to not hear the talent - (that's you! ) You're the man Chad! No excuses.... mics are cheap and small these days.... i want to hear EVERYTHING! (Please😅)
why?
Homogenized milk is not the same.
Nice work man. Keep up the great work.
