Good review, But why you didn't review the concept behind the album, the rise and fall of the biggest library in the world (The House of Wisdom) also, the iconic cover artwork and how it is related to the vicious attack and destruction by the Mongols. Once you connect with the story, you will enjoy this EP more!
The most fascinating aspect for me was how the whole song doesn't lose its charm. Most of such long tracks either starts to sound boring or they switch their style to keep the listener interested (not that I do not fancy this style). The whole song from the first moment keeps you hooked for something alluring in an intellectual and abysmal way.
The live footage of them performing this is fucking nuts. Collin Marston's production is outstanding, probably going to use him for my bands full length next year. He just knows exactly what needs to happen
I have only one complain for this ep....the drone passage (starts around minute 18:00) up until the crescendo was really dull in my opinion. But nevertheless a nice ep. I like the pleiades concept. Gorguts still got it. Fyrnask has a new album out and Withered (colin marston plays bass there as well) will soon be coming up with a album.
I just bought the cd today and I started listening to it on my porch and I was really enjoying what I was hearing, until my neighbour decided to crank his music so loud that I couldn't hear shit. As if this wasn't enough, he was listening to the 50 Cent album Get Rich or Die Tryin'. Of course it had to be THAT album...
+Rich Tremblay V Could have been worse. He could have been listening to 50's albums after Get Rich or Die Trying, which in my ears are pretty horrible in comparison.
its something that almost needs repeated listens to really swallow the whole thing... kind of like deathspell omega's "fas", the more you listen the more you sew the big picture. rewarding music..
I love and respect your channel and reviews ! You enhanced my taste in music and made me listen more and be more knowledgeable! Please please keep doing what you're doing till the end of time! Thank you!
Fuck you realize albums take time to sit right? if he reviewed it right after the first listen he wouldn't have a lot to say. You ghetto ass hip hop heads have no brain
Leo Reyes You're calling me a faggot when saying "Where's the review already?!" Was a joke? Lol in what way was your impatient ass, childish question a joke?
I used to think that metal is dead... I was so wrong... There were so many great metal albums this year and in 2015, but it's all very underground stuff
chance: *vibing out over a cool instrumental* Me: ooooOOOo here comes the drop!!! What's chance gonna pull?? Kanye: THIS IS OUR (AUTO TUNE THAT I CAN UNDERSTAND) WORK WORK WORK WOOAOoOoOo AYO Ooo me: *turns off album and goes to bed*
My understanding is that an album is more formal and everything is produced to the best of the artist's ability. Mixtapes are often free and distributed outside of a label, usually over the Internet.
You should review Anohni's new album 'Hopelessness' it's a really interesting leap for the artist musically and lyrically it's a very profound protest record.
I am not saying Luc is in it for the money. Doesn't mean that he shouldn't be getting paid for giving us wonderful music. Some might say "just buy the EP", which is fair enough, but streaming is becoming a more and more dominant medium to listen to music and shouldn't be discounted.
A.O. Z Yeah I hear ya, but splitting the album up would just detract from the listening experience. I don't use Spotify or any streaming stuff but let's both just hope at least Colored Sands is on there and Luc makes a little money off that :) I'm actually going to see them later tonight, they've been my favorite death metal band since I first heard Erosion of Sanity. Gonna be amazing! :D
Absolutely loved this EP. Back when I heard they were going to do a one song thing, I got worried they wouldn't be able to pull it off. Luc Lemay might just be one of the most talented people in death metal today, and he's like, 50.
i felt like this was a continuation of the first half of colored sands , i personaly liked the chaos and dismal tone of the second half , i wish the do a long track/ep like the second half of colored sands

Anthony Fantano's buzzword to describe a new release in any sub-genre of metal: "visceral"
Hey Gorguts shared this on Facebook!
Luc Lemay is one of the coolest guys in metal, tbh. Not to mention he's released some of the best shit out there.
Shoul've made their name Gogurts instead
lmfao. they should at least do a gogurts shirt
I know this is a joke, but they came out before Gorgurt.

Because he's unable to and material such as this is too deep for him.
@@zlodrim9284 hahaha
@@zlodrim9284 ah yes reading off of Wikipedia requires insane intelligence
This year has brought some great albums so far. 👏👏👏
agreed
Aesop
+William Pope Santigold
+Ahmed A.Q .Paak
+William Pope Avantasia, David Bowie, Dream Theater, Tremonti
... RHCP, Sabaton, Volbeat and Alter Bridge on the way!
I will comment on this video to show support for metal reviews
Saw Gorguts live. They played this entire song live, and it wasn't even the closer. Awesome group

Had to go 25 comments down to find a comment that was somewhat related to this review
Thanks for giving this a review, man. Nice to see someone out there recognizing the more obscure music.
Crazy amazing album. Top tier musicians with likely the best chops in metal.
The live footage of them performing this is fucking nuts. Collin Marston's production is outstanding, probably going to use him for my bands full length next year. He just knows exactly what needs to happen
is this still "loud rock" if I turn the volume down?

Sebastian von P Withered put out a sick album this year indeed.
"HEADS OR TAILS..."
"MAKE HEADS OR TAILS"
"HEADS OR TAILS ON THIS"
"HEADS OR FUCKING TAILS"

I'd love to see you review Obscura and FWTH.
I love this song, it's an awesome mix between From Wisdom To Hate and Colored Sands with touches of Obscura. It's great!

I'd say they've been developing their sound so much, creating a dense and prior to subjugation, being closer to making a classic.
I just listened to this EP three times in a row, and I still feel like I have a long way to go with until I figure it out.
Epic track! The 33 minutes actually goes by really quickly, good review!
Where's the Coloring Book review?!
+Leo Reyes Patience
+Leo Reyes I know i'm trying to form my opinion already smh
I agree smh x2

Great EP! Knew there was no risk in pre-ordering, as everything Gorguts puts out is fantastic.
I used to think that metal is dead... I was so wrong... There were so many great metal albums this year and in 2015, but it's all very underground stuff
+Eu Alex just browse bandcamp and you'll find some great new metal.
I'm dyslexic and at first I thought the name of the band was Gogurts.

nice video Anthony but what does this have to do with Chance?
Keeping in mind that you loved colored sands so much I knew you were going to enjoy this. Great review!
Hey guys Chancethony Threetano, the internet's busiest music nerd.
What's the difference between a mixtape and a album?
My understanding is that an album is more formal and everything is produced to the best of the artist's ability. Mixtapes are often free and distributed outside of a label, usually over the Internet.
Mixtapes are kind of like demo tapes. I could be wrong though (probably am).
Everyone's asking about why the Coloring Book Review isn't out yet, but the real questions is when's the Angry Birds Soundtrack review coming out

Love your metal album reviews man! Hope to see more!
Hey Fantano, are you gonna review Cult Of Luna - Mariner album?
gotta wonder how they are gonna make any money from Spotify with this, if it is one long track and they still get the same half a cent per stream.
I really don't think Luc Lemay is in it for the money, at all.
I am not saying Luc is in it for the money. Doesn't mean that he shouldn't be getting paid for giving us wonderful music. Some might say "just buy the EP", which is fair enough, but streaming is becoming a more and more dominant medium to listen to music and shouldn't be discounted.

they probably dont care much for revenue through spotify
Spotify has gapless playback so it wouldn't detract at all. In fact it would make it easier to find a cool part that you liked.
It happened in Flatbush!!!
Oh my god people stop complaining that he hasn't reviewed Coloring Book and just enjoy this one.
I'm 99.9% sure he isn't gonna review it
No review for Head Wound City?
