Because a lot of people blindly hate it for no reason other than it's popular to hate it. My 7 main friends trash it with only one of them having actually seen at least a few episodes of it. The problems it has, I can literally point to other popular and loved animes/mangas and find the same problems but only Fairy Tail is looked down on for said problems. It's lame. Oh well, I love it haha.
I've watched through the entire anime. There are some good scenes like this but the rest is just cringe to watch. That's most likely why so many hate the anime with the chessy bs about friendship.

This doesn't make sense... When all the gang attacked it's didn't do shit... Now when the cool dood gave natsu his power it suddenly changed the tide... What changed ? It's still all the fairytale vs the one guy.. is it just another power of friendship crap
comedy ruins every heartfelt moment in this fucking anime jesus christ, no wonder nobody likes it, not only is the plot armor ridiculous, the comedy timings are fucking ruining every good scene, an anime that could've been literally number 1 if the plot armor wasn't severely outrageously crazy & the comedy didn't exist
