I hate how people say oh they can’t do metal anymore. Number 1 Vivian played with Dio which is very very much metal. Number 2 Phil has been on the pyromania album as well which was still mutt Lange ac dc style songs. Number 3 they play the damn songs here just fine. Honestly it sounds better because they use more distortion than they did with Pete and Steve.
This is one of Def Leppard's most banger songs in their entire discography, and not to mention that they sound really great with it live even after all these years. Despite this, the crowd are just standing around like statues or wandering around like lost children awkwardly looking for their parents... What is wrong with these clowns? It may not be the best sing-along like Pour Some Sugar On Me, but how can you not just rock out to this one?
This is TRUE ROCK-N-ROLL. These kids now would never understand the hairbands from the 80's. Def Leppard and list goes on and on. They still rock-n-roll after all this time and sound like they have never aged.
As far as "live sound" is concerned, very few bands from their era sound half this good anymore. Most bands lowered all the keys, slowed the tempos, or their voices are completely shot. I saw Def Leppard live recently, and they sound just as good as they did back in the 80s, if not tighter. Joe Elliot is doing a great job with hitting those high notes as hard as he can, considering his age. Great band. Totally underrated.
And the rest of the band sing great harmonies. If they use a few backing tracks to flesh things out, I don't think there are many going on. It's pretty spare. I think they're doing a great job keeping it pretty authentic in this era, where most bands are just playing along to their fucking studio recordings.
And some of the members, such as Vivian Campbell or Phil Collins, are looking pretty good for their age, considering they have been performing since the Def Leppard EP.
I was there when they played this song on a different night. It's one of my sister's favorites by DL and I love anything they play anyway. But when Viv began the intro, we turned to each other with a big smile on our face. It was a pleasant surprise.
Man, I am always jealous of performances like this and stuff like the new footage of Comin Under Fire....Wish true fans had the chance to see this stuff live...I always feel like the people that get to be there live don't have a clue...they are all waiting for Sugar,etc....If you chose this video you are like me... my first Def Lep show was seeing them open for Blackfoot on the HIgh and Dry Tour...Epic!!!!
Good to see them playing these kick ass tunes off of High N Dry never would have expected it since I refused to see them live or listen to anything of theirs from that crap Hysteria album on
What an amazing live performance. Def Leppard was the first band I became a fan of, back in 1987 when I was 11. "Hysteria" was the gateway, but I soon learned that their older albums were solid gold. "High 'n' Dry", their 2nd album (which this song is from) is an underrated album. I've always liked this song, and hearing this live performance makes me LOVE it even more. I love the sound of electric guitars, and in this song the electric guitars tickle mye ears particularly well. It gives me a really good EARGASM. Thank you, Dead Flat Bird. ;)
I was very big into Def Leppard including their "Pyromania" phase. Remember reading the Metal Hammer Magazine (which had hit the market here in germany in early 1984) that there had been this terrible car crash and the drummer lost his arm. I was shocked in a way.....afterwards Leppard disappeared from my metal horizon. Years later they suddenly returned and i am sure that i was among ten thousands of their strong followers that the return with their polished radio rock was .... just shocking! But what i want to say is that "Mirror, Mirror" and the "High'n'Dry" album in whole was and is (now that we have 2023) are iconic to me. Have heard both of them a thousand times - and will never stop. Together with "On through the Night" and "Pyromania" this will always be Leppard for me! Forget the rest! Greetings from germany. By the way: please "Ded Flatbird"....come to germany and give all the strong Leppard followers an impression of how great you are! Just join the "Blues Garage" near-by in Isernhagen. For example!
So many never heard on the radio songs that still are great to me. I love the radio songs but there are many treasures to find when exploring the songs that never made it to radio :) If you desire to learn, then explore. I learn more by making mistakes and fumbling around on my own versus using media outlets that use me .
Don't judge...not everyone likes the same music. Just bc it's not ur fav, doesn't mean u stomp all over everyone else's choices. If ya don't like it, get off the site.
i just saw 3 days ago an interview where Joe Elliot said they "Intentionally" looked and sounded like this. They were acting as an opening band for themselves. He said he looked and acted different on purpose. They intentionally made the stage smaller and dropped all of the Leppard lights and flash. Just having what an opening band would have. And they played all OLD songs only. These people in the crowd are very lucky, as they got to see something VERY VERY RARE. THE CROWD IS DEAD!!! WTF!!! Dont you people even realize how RARE this is?????
It's sad when so few in the audience know the words. I know videos of audiences full of 50 -something women aren't marketable, but I damn sure could have sung along during every song.
They did play some of these songs during tours in the early & mid 2000s. I don't why they stopped mixing it up like they did. They don't need or have to play just to the masses all the time.
I personally believe there is NO BETTER tandem of lead guitar players in ANY BAND. Sure Joe Perry, Eddie Van Halen, Angus Young, Keith Richards and the list goes on and on and on of GREAT lead guitar player. but my argument is Vivian and Phil are the best combo leads. They both play lead. If you did not watch them you would not know which one is playing Lead. I just watched them last week and they STILL ROCK HARD!!!! Phil Colleen is still one of my favorite players. Vivian looks a lot different with short hair now but so glad he is healthy with his cancer. Thank god he is too young to lose.
+LesSmith45 What!! Have you just started listening to rock music. Tipton/Downing, Murray/Smith/Jers (take your pick of 2 from those three), Robertson/Gorham, Aldrich/Beach, Powell/Wisefield, Friedman/Becker to name a couple are all better duo's and, having seen them in 79/80/81/82, the original Willis/Clarke line up from Leppard wiped the floor with the present duo.
Damn the crowd was DEAD!!! All these housewives and soccer mom's had NO idea what they were hearing. This is when Def Leppard ROCKED! High N' Dry is their best album by far.
Great to see this. I have to admit I was one of the UK fans that felt "betrayed" by the Pyromania album. I'd loved DL's first two albums, but in January 1983 I was getting ready for school and listening to the radio. The DJ announced "the new one from Def Leppard" and the Photograph riff started. I hated it! By 1987 I had recovered enough to like some songs from Hysteria, but I'm one of those Def Leppard NWOBHM guys. On Through the Night and High'nDry were great. Everything after that, not so good.
im assuming the crowd is mainly filled with kids from this generation so , being a kiddo raised in a house and family with an extraordinary taste in 80s music , growing up having HELLA crushes on men who were my dads age , would be out in the crowd dancing around and screaming
It's interesting how Joe finds the high notes as he has gotten older. Kind of a mix of whiskey voice and falsetto. I have tried to find that in my falsetto to be able to sing these songs but....nope. That's why he gets the big bucks.
Maybe not on this go, but the newer fans will go.... hey, that was a great tune! and start digging into their old catalog. It's a song that provokes a little more thought than their standard hits. Joe is doing right by his voice and making tunes sound good without blowing his voice out like in the past.
Still sounding great! Joe's voice sounds a little different but still good! But hey, that's what comes from singing all the time for decades like he has.
Old Def Leppard is the best Def Leppard.
Rock of Ages like me and my Wine.
And Steve Clarke wrote all their best tunes.
@@roadhog-so8enNo he he didn’t, not on the first three albums. Him and Pete Willis.
Pyromania & Hysteria are their most well-known albums, but High & Dry is the diamond in the rough, IMO. Great album, no filler.
No diamond in the rough High N Dry is their best damn album period. Hysteria is a steaming pile of Pop rock crap!!
High N Dry and On Through The Night is easily their best stuff!!
@@bill2527 I agree
High n Dry is a gem from beginning to end. They were always better without the polish and finesse of later albums.
@@bill2527 I agree!
Joe: "We are the best Def Leppard cover band in the world." Priceless....
Without Steve Clark and Pete Willis, that's basically what they are now.
I just had the same thought.
Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell are better than Pete Willis ever would have been and they are both just as good as Steve Clarke
I hate how people say oh they can’t do metal anymore. Number 1 Vivian played with Dio which is very very much metal. @@that1guy335 bruh 😂
They should play this at every show. Sounds great.
Damn, they should put this in the set list for every show!
Yes!!
Yes!! One of my favorites! Love this song
By far my favorite Def Leppard song. High and Dry is such a great album
This is one of Def Leppard's most banger songs in their entire discography, and not to mention that they sound really great with it live even after all these years. Despite this, the crowd are just standing around like statues or wandering around like lost children awkwardly looking for their parents... What is wrong with these clowns? Well said !!
i love joe's sense of humor
One of my favorite songs by these guys.
Ahhh the Willis and Clark era high n dry the best album they ever did....vivian and Phil do it justice....
One of my favorites!! old school Leppard is the best.
my too :)
2nd that motion ..
Mirror Mirror & Action Not Words both underrated classic , should be played every show of there's..
These guys have a great sense of humour AND have recorded some of the best songs I’ve ever heard, including this one!!
Omg this cracks me up!! Anyone who knows these guys would know instantly even before 1st note! Roflmao!!
+Aametrii Graham Yeah, no one in the crowd knows this song at all. It's really sad.
Yeah because most lames love that Hysteria crap this is when Leppard was actually good..High N Dry!!
This is TRUE ROCK-N-ROLL. These kids now would never understand the hairbands from the 80's. Def Leppard and list goes on and on. They still rock-n-roll after all this time and sound like they have never aged.

+Curt Reyes (CurtChronicle)
Actually, neither of them had any involvement with the Def Leppard EP.
I meant for the 80's. My mistake. Yea there was Steve Clark and Pete Willis instead Brian Gray
Vivian Campbell was playing with Ronnie James Dio back in the early 80's
Wow Joe Elliot still sounds good after all these years. Back then he was screaming his lungs out it's surprising his voice wasn't damaged.
Right👏🏼👏🏼
I was at the third of these shows in Las Vegas. They played Mirror Mirror the second song right after On Through the Night.
you were VERY LUCK to see this rare jewel from Leppard
Excellent that's the good stuff not the Hysteria crap!!
This is the best song I’ve heard him song live. High and Dry album kept it real.
The power from the High n Dry album songs are something beyond!!! Pyro and On Thru the night also rock!!!
One of the greatest Rock songs of all-time!
One of the most underrated albums of the 80s or really anytime
I was there when they played this song on a different night. It's one of my sister's favorites by DL and I love anything they play anyway. But when Viv began the intro, we turned to each other with a big smile on our face. It was a pleasant surprise.
Gunna have to smash the glassssssss
Definitely one of my favorites, after 30+ years they still rock the night and still have fun doing.
One of their best songs.
One of my favourite def leppard songs . I was just blown away when I saw this .
Yep…it’s a RIPPER!!! 😎🎸🎸
Best modern version I’ve heard from them. Dropped the key perfectly from 30 something years ago
THIS NEEDS TO BE IN THE REGULAR CONCERT LINEUP!
One of my all-time favorites! Amazing!
It's my ultimate favorite song!!!
Sheffields finest High n Dry one of the top 10 rock albums of all time
Awesome

wicked cool tune
Best Song they have ever done in my book!!!!

I think the fans are so stunned at what greatness they are seeing hence why they seem so mellow !
This is an epic “Leppard “ moment !!

Yes and for me its the best tune off the album
Of course....
This is one of my favorite songs!
Oh yeah I know the lyrics of this album by heart but I grew up n da 80s....
Cause it's a bunch of Millenial a-holes who want to hear the crap from Hysteria that's been played to death
i love it...und Joe mit Hut und Sonnenbrille...sweet...

So. Great to even hear this song live...

I don't know if you're trolling but you know this is them right
People out there think this is really a cover band😂
Billy’s got a got a gun very cool as well
