I see that you served everyone first and yourself last and batman took the older ones' plates. That is broughtupcy! Your parents (and bats') must be very proud of you. I wish more children today were taught to respect their elders. Maybe Trinidad would be in a better place than where it is today.
Dis is why no matter where i is i love and appreciate every piece of my island and it's wonderful people, love this video very educational and interesting
Oh gosh bat I wish I had some of that rice. Thank you Taste of Trini for sharing our culture with the world. Props to you and batman for a job well done
I truly love watching you and Batman, I love you and your whole family you are all so beautiful(and Batman too) and blessed. May God continue to bless you all always. Sending hugs and kisses to you all.
Sitting in cold but sunny Airdrie, Alberta watching this. This looks so yummy. Nice to see family cooking and eating together especially outside. Never had a cookup like this. Feeling hungry for Trini food. Keep coming with your great cooking videos.
Isn't it nice to have your family in your videos for a change?! I love the part where you were feeding the ducks with the coconut husk. When you were washing the chicken, flour was added, why? Batman can real cook! I would like to meet him one day! Very entertaining and informative video sweetie TFS!
WhaTo🍴Cook Yes of course! The flour and salt takes the slimy skin off the chicken and it gets rid of that "fresh" scent. Yes you will get to meet him one day for sure. Thanks for watching!
Looking at your video I felt like it was home by my granny. The simple things we take for granted, like picking your bandana from the yard.....or feeding the ducks with the coconut...Thanks for sharing your video it was well received.
willie Countryman in trini those pots dont usually have brandnames you can buy them in chagunas montrose mainroad has a variety store will try to findout the name and contact.
I know this answer is two years late to your question but the dashing bush is Taro leaves and it's spelled Dasheen. She has a video on her channel about the leaves if you want to see more about it. Look for Dasheen Bush.
All you have do is put the coconut in a 350 degrees oven and leave it for about 15 to 20 mins and you just have to hit it once or twice to crack and the shell will be released easily. No heavy digging to get the shell off. The backyard reminds me of my childhood days. We had the ducks, turkeys and chickens/fowls all living peacefully together. Chickens and eggs from the backyard every week.
I'm Haitian and I love the way you guys cook!! All carribbean islands have there own touch but looking at your videos, Trinidadians and Haitians cooking style very similar. The green seasoning is a must for us, we call it apiece, which means spice sauce in Creole. It makes my heart smile that our cooking style is almost the same. We don't use curry much though but I do since my boyfriend Is Jamaican. I like to know how all islands cook their food so I can change it up sometimes and try something different.I just made the crab and dumplings that you and Batman did and I must say everyone Love it! Thanks for the videos : )
+Oasisfullfilled Nice! Thank you for watching! I would love to learn more about Haitian cuisine. I'm happy to hear you are open about different foods in the Caribbean, that's great! Glad the crab and dumplings came out great! Thanks for trying it ☺☺
+Oasisfullfilled At the end of the day, Caribbean cooking is heavily influenced by West Africa cooking. And in places like Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago you have a lot of South India cooking influence as well. In Latin American countries like Brazil, Colombia, and to a lesser extent Venezuela and Ecuador where there is a relatively large Black population you also find West Africa influence on the cooking. Even in the US, a lot of foods they cook in the South is influenced by West Africa.
Navin Singh Thanks, yes it is, it's growing everywhere. Happy you enjoyed the video, hope to see more from you soon. I need to catch up, I've been so busy and I imagine you are too with school
Haha yes I could imagine how busy you'd be! I actually have a few days off and I recorded a bunch of new videos and finally got the last edits through with my Trinidad movie. Will upload soon before I get all caught up in my new semester 😂. Good luck with school!
i loved to see you guys eating with your hands and not spoons, food tastes better that way ( that's my opinion though). is Bat your brother? he seems like alot of fun .
Thank GOD for blenders! I remember I had do the Greatting of the coconut! We had goats & chickens! There’s nothing better than a fresh killed chicken. Although I used to feel sorry for the goats or chicken when they were about to get kill... I could not watch!! NyC🇹🇹
