I grew up in Colorado mountain towns, I've watched the quality of life deteriorate with the snowbirds coming in and never leaving. makes great biz for real estate agents but really not the same as it used to be with all the influx of people moving in and crowding the locals out. Vail, Telluride, Aspen, and now Steamboat, very sad.

I get your comment but change is inevitable when you have such an appealing place. And yes, it gets crowded during some major holidays but really, I don't find Steamboat to have deteriorated. It still has the old charm and feel from the past. Progress just keeps going. All cities are not as charming as they used to be either. Steamboat is still a wonderful town. Just don't go downtown during Christmas.

just what you want to endure, makes it seem like the city now dunnit? Just what I mean by growing pains, sounds more like Seattle than a small town in Colorado. If you have to wait an hour and half for something that's a city and that, at least for me, would ruin the real estate as I would never purchase such a crowd to deal with regularly. Just not like Colorado was when you could jeep over a pass, visit an old mine, and never see another soul, traffic jams on Lizard head? not for me.

I get it. But take a trip into a city and you'll see the difference pretty quick. I'm not saying I love seeing small towns grow, but it's going to happen.
