As much of a pain as 3M tape is to remove, it's very refreshing to see it used instead of drilling into the doors and quarters, lots of care put into the build from the start
Any concern about the grooved brake pads? All those grooves from the old rotors are still in the pads, and they'll be cutting the same grooves into the new rotors to some degree. Running the brake pads on some sandpaper on a flat surface can sort that out easily if you really don't want to replace the pads.
Everyone praising him in the comments about how clean and cool the car is and then when I saw him just.. Look at the old pads and chuck them back in.. Without even linishing them? Like seriously.. TH-cam car and bike guys scare me sometimes, I'm a mechanic by trade and there have been so many rookie, basic mistakes I've seen on this site, it's painful everytime but people have to learn from their own experiences. If anyone reads this yes, you should replace the pads when replacing rotors and bed them in properly, that means heating them up slowly with light, slow speed braking and then once up to temp do some more aggressive higher speed stops, once full warmed up and the brake feel is consistent and not getting any 'bitey' then let them cool down natural to room temperature, boom goes the dynamite, you just professionally bed your brakes. Pro tip, DOT 5.1 race brake fluid is compatible with DOT 4 system and with some brand comparisons has a 40-80 degree Celsius dry boiling point advantage.
So cool how it is similar to how the car was originally modified, but with some simple tasteful mods you're transforming it into your own build. Those small changes are so satisfying once you see them all working together 😍
I love how passionate you are about each part of the car. It's one of the things that first drew me to your channel. I really hope to see that WE THE PEOPLE decal come back on the underside of the wing!
From the moment Ben got an Evo, I couldnt wait to watch each releases. Evos are always great to build due to countless modifications. I do feel like Ben isnt going to let this car go. that Evo is beautiful and I bet with a little more modifications its going to handle great on the track.
Looks great man. There's a rubber wheel that attaches to a drill that would make easy work of that tape issue you were having. It's called wonder wheel. Amazon has it and it's cheap. For next time.
The fact that the quarters aren’t cut to clear the tires when lowering the car tells me the guy/shop that installed the body kit didn’t really know what they were doing
It’s not peeling clear coat on CF parts. That’s epoxy breaking down due to lack of UV protection. All new APR parts either need to be waxed constantly or immediately clear coated after purchase.
every video on this evo x i’ve watched i’ve learned something new, even if it’s as simple as the fact that you could run a wide body with just two sided tape..
I love these nice car revival series! It's one thing to take a clapped out car and revive it, but a car that "appears" nice being properly sorted out is so pleasing to watch.
Ok, I'm jealous of your wall of bolt trays. You must have one of every size. You're gonna fall in love with that Evo! I had a Galant for 14yrs 285k before the auto trans craped out. I drove Ford, Buick, Nissan after that and didn't like them. Mitsubishi's just have their own feel. Now I have a 04 Ralliart, nothing special but, and I enjoy driving again. I can't explain it.
I'd be pulling the wide body off, get rid of the spacers which will save more weight and get yourself some OEM guards which I'm sure someone will swap you for and it will be a far nicer car but great work up to this point!
Protip for 3m VHB removal - 3m Stripe Off Wheel. It's like a giant rubber eraser that you attach to your drill. Works wonders and won't damage paint. Things are expensive but save HOURS of work.
Skidplates are worth it just for the aerodynamic benefits, they both reduce lift and measurably decrease drag which increases top speed. A set of skid plates will increase your top speed by anywhere from 2-7 km/h, so not an insignificant amount! Also decreases fuel consumption by a couple percent if that is something you care about.
Adhesive eraser wheel would be great for the removal of the left over double sided tap. When putting on a molding that is held with double sided tape leave tails on the red film allowing it to stick out past the panel so that you can position the panel in the correct spot on the car you just pull the plastic film as you press the along where the double sided tape is.
Gotta love Vinnay and Delano. Next time, try one of the 3m eraser wheels in a drill. They are a bit pricey but might turn that 7 hours into 1 hour or less. Looks good.
You guys' Speed Academy and Mighty Car Mods are my 3 favourite channels on the "tube" I think everyone would totally dig a collaboration video from all 3 of you' Just imagine if it could be done ✔️😀 😀 😃
It’s looking great. Hope when the suspension gets sorted the rear quarter does too. It’s a little weird seeing a widebody over top of the stock arch. Can’t image he’ll mess with that tape again tho. Still clean as hell.
Damn 💯 This Evo X build is looking super spicy 🔥 loving all the fresh goodies that Ben got for the Evo, the brake upgrade is definitely one of my favourite mods he did in the episode as well as the carbon fibre wing 👌🏼
Damn thanks for showing the sap under tray. I looked up the company and they do make it for my focus so I’ll be hitting them up for one come the holiday’s hahaha. I’ll make sure to let them know I heard of them because of you on your video on the evo upgrades hahaha.
I'm split on the titanium bolts. I love the look but from a maintenance perspective I'm kind of scared because titanium likes to gall where steel really doesn't. I'm sure it's going to be the next owner's problem, but trying to undo those titanium bolts is going to be a fun time
Being an evo owner, these video resonate with me! But I gotta ask, maybe I missed it in the wheel video, but I see you are running spacers. How's that going? I've always been somewhat leery of spacers as an additional failure point, but the price is always so tempting.
Loved the Mighty Car Mods reference 😂 That evo looks sick now!
Although, Marty sold all his evos
@@TehKaramelo IN THE BIN!
I LOVED IT hahahaha IN THE BIN!!
it made me smile
Two of my favorite car channels. I cant wait for a colab
Nice ,I can tell Ben is slowly falling in love with the new Evo.
Wouldn't anyone? (:
probably tired of how slow the civic is
Gotta love the Might Car Mods shout-out!!!!
Toss it in the bin!
You guys are single handily raising the bar for automotive content on TH-cam. Love form AUS
And Might Car Mods. And Throttle House. And fortnine (motorcycles).
@@j_mars_cars gingium also makes great content imo
@@j_mars_cars Add in Jason Cammisa from Haggerty too.
@@ozdunder It's incredible how far he has come.
@@zeSSTYYYLemoN I was thinking of him too! Just watched the fiero thing.
4:00 that mighty car mods reference was funny af !!

I'm not the biggest Evo guy, but this has been one of my favorite builds across TH-cam for 2022🤘

Passionate, maybe… but he didn’t even clean some of the brakes

If you guys don't end up selling that wing, slap it on the Mr2 to see if it can help with some of that oversteer! Should look pretty goofy as well. 😆
A 400E rubber eraser wheel and drill would have that 3M tape off in about 30 mins
The fact that the quarters aren’t cut to clear the tires when lowering the car tells me the guy/shop that installed the body kit didn’t really know what they were doing
I saw that too, but it kinda made me happy cause it could go back to stock body
Surprised the rear tires aren’t rubbing super hard
@@Fhwgads11 well, the car is at monster truck height so it makes sense it doesn’t rub
I can't believe that Ben just quoted another one of my favorite channels MCM !

Looking good ben, i admire your taste and vision for simple clean builds. Thanks for the great content!
16:14 actually made me say "god damn" out loud. she's coming along beautifully!!
I was never crazy about Evo's, but I'm loving the way that thing looks and I want one now
Man I hope this hits the track soon!!!. glad ben is taking proper care of it, not just prepping it to sale it, LOOKS SICK.
One thing about Ben Thorne he will always try to save any good car with alot of potential. Always respect him for that
every video on this evo x i’ve watched i’ve learned something new, even if it’s as simple as the fact that you could run a wide body with just two sided tape..

You've got to be mad fitting the exact same wing considering how bad the other one looked after only a few years.
Wait wasn't he the one who live and died with Subaru? I love working on my Evo X, glad to see this channel.
That old wing is still saveable with work 😭 Some good ol' sanding, and a fresh layer of resin, would have that old wing looking fresh!
Ok, I'm jealous of your wall of bolt trays. You must have one of every size. You're gonna fall in love with that Evo! I had a Galant for 14yrs 285k before the auto trans craped out. That black roof adds a lot. Nice work!
Man I swear if I had the cash I’d buy this from you guys when you were done. Definitely a nice piece you have here. Great job as always
My Saturday morning is now complete. Greetings from Jamaica.

I'm loving this series! How about welding the skid plate halfs together?
The nut and bolt wall is shop goals 🤙

These gears and gasoline videos are so satisfying to watch, great job
I also have the 2 piece rotors. They are awesome!
Absolutely loving the Evo X content 👌
This Evo looks really clean!! Nicely done!!!
One of the nicest evo x I have ever seen.
"In the bin" love it guys 👌
Wow looks better after every episode. Great job to everyone
Loving this EVO build. I feel that pain of removing the 3M tape 😂
I seriously can't with you guys. Lol the budget for this must be astronomical! Looks good either way.
I really like your taste on how you set up your cars, clean looking at very good performance.
This thing looks sooo mint wow
Ben is so detailed. I love it. Glad I'm not the only insane person out there lol.
Love the Evo content! The red on black is definitely a very nice color combo. Fellow x owner myself and love the aggressive look!
Broo you and yours cars are amazing !!! in love with this car!!!
Should probably ceramic coat that carbon wing so it doesn't yellow like the old one. Love how the evo is turning out.

Ben glad you went with the same wing it just fits the Evo perfectly. If you want to send me the old one I’d gladly accept it
Okay petition to change the channel name to Bens and Evos
As an Owner of 2' Evo's. I approve this EvoX😆👍lol. cant wait for the episode.

Hi friends, for the 3M tape wonder wheel / whizzy wheel / pin stripe remover can make your life a lot easier

Probably the best “dollar per pound” weight reduction is to just remove all the vinyl and wide body fiberglass, no?

Lookin great but still wish you went with a ducktail/whaletail kind of boot lip setup
Love the MightyCarMods reference. COLLAB SOON PLEASE!
Really love this build
IN THE BIN!!!
it looks so much better and its just small details that make it pop
Changing brake disc but not pad seems like a bad idea ?
was gonna say. specially if the old discs were heavy grooved. the pads might be as well.
not sure you realise that every time you drill or cut metal would highly
recommend to rust proof or paint those spot from future rust ( skid plates)
❤ the car and the 20twenty boys they do amazing work!
