Are you giving to attempt a video on: what knife would you choose if you were subscripted into the Army? As far as the desert goes and what knife, you would have to know what reason are you there and what would be the nature of your cutting tests. Camping? I don’t think so. Hunting? Good luck.

you are there and you must survive (that is the context) ...and it is a desert in Chile (Atacama) 0 rain and almost 0 trees... with luck small bushes and animals like rabbits and some mountain rodents (chinchilla and vizcachas) ...large ones only the Guanaco and Vicunia, I would not recommend trying to hunt the Puma lol... it is complicated, that is why it must be very light and contained... the Sonoran desert in North America or in Australia is another story with other factors.

I was looking at some of those green beetle videos and the improved hardness results. It must be that the Chinese are getting rolled and hardened steel. They are machining these blades with robotic Lasers etc and losing 5 or so points of hardness on the steels you have been talking about.

@@michaelwaldeck7081 what is clear is that chinese companies work cold steel, just cut and manufacture, there is no special process for each model, they are all cut with the same scissors lol ... then the question is, if they work (generally) "420" steel and this steel can reach 56HRC is it feasible to do a homemade heat treatment to improve them? ... YES ... but it is something that very few will want to do due to knowledge and complexity ... and another big question, do high-end chinese steels have the same quality as North American or European steels? ... I think not (definitely not) it is clear that Chinese D2 is softer than US D2, and the same must happen with all steels from other brands ... but for some reason I trust the quality of the steels used by Sanrenmu and its subsidiaries, Ganzo and Real Steel ... Trivisa and Pes Petrificado seem trustworthy to me like Kizer, but to what extent do we believe them?

FreeWolf is advertising a new knife for $66au and they actually put the steel down as 3cr13, 57hrc. I almost fell over. First actually true knife (not so sure about the 57?). . I might have to check out this company a bit more in the future. I know you have one. Oh no it’s Free tiger you have.

@@michaelwaldeck7081 Mine is a Free Wolf (from Kesiwo)...I haven't bought a Free Tiger but if it says 3crX it's real and you know, it's softer than a:
      AISI420 Carbon 0.40 - 0.50
      3cr13 " 0.26 - 035
      AISI410 " 0.09 - 0.15
That's why I say that the Chinese are either cheaters or very smart to ("sell you the fish") a Chilean saying when they want to fool you...
I wouldn't buy that knife under any circumstances...I don't know how much the Australian dollar conversion is, but I still wouldn't buy it.
