I’m actually going to Barcelona next week and I’m not happy giving my credit card details to a prepaid hotel at check in. Why are the Spanish doing this? They are not a wealthy country and without tourism they’d really struggle. Why don’t they just ban tourists?
Is a dread for visiting next with the new entry system at the border now this hotel check. We visit Puerto Pollensa and like to stay in a villa but with all the break ins this summer we’re worried about staying in one. Unfortunately Mallorca isn’t looking appealing. We will probably still come next summer but if it is a ball ache definitely will reconsider. For the CC check wonder if you can use a single use Revolut card?
We really love Spain. It’s a shame that we won’t be returning if this new policy is implemented. No way I’m trusting their government’s system to safely contain all that information.
Not sure if you know this but would credit/debit/bank card details be required if you book through a travel agent since technically your contract is with them and they in turn handle the relationship with your hotel
Forty years of trips to Mallorca and Spain ended by a badly thought out plan. These details are personal and subject to misuse too easily by the criminal fraternity, it would be impossible to police this well enough. It’s a shame but somewhere else will now get our business. Oh dear, people running their businesses efficiently. Can't have that.
I have only once taken my credit card on holiday with me. I left it in the safe at a well known hotel in a chain in Benidorm in March 2024. A few weeks later over £700 was spent on my credit card. I do not think this was a coincedence.
@clivethereddevil3178 ...not just Spain at fault... i had several hundred pounds spent on online websites on my credit card....whilst I was still on the plane flying to Mallorca, before had landed so it obviously got cloned / scanned at the midlands based airport in the UK on my way out... I now use an RFID purse to protect that. Nightmare
@@anitabenson2536 If I have to use a credit card abroad now I always keep it with me then cancel it when I get home and say it was stolen.
Correct Anita
Why? Why are they doing this?
Last year I stayed in a hotel, shown in one of your videos in Magalif. They gave a three page check in form to complete, plus our passport. Even lost our booking with TU. So yes but they did not ask for phone or bank details
So much red tape don't they want holiday maker's great video 🌞😎
It’s bad enough that some businesses lose our personal data - now we’re expected to hand over our most personal information to Hotels - just too much! Bye bye 👋 Spain it was nice visiting y’all - Cyprus here I come until further notice.
I’m actually going to Barcelona next week and I’m not happy giving my credit card details to a prepaid hotel at check in. Why are the Spanish doing this? They are not a wealthy country and without tourism they’d really struggle. Why don’t they just ban tourists?
The hoteliers are against this and people's livlihoods depend on tourism!
We just booked for 2026 so looking forward to coming back as was my first trip over sea .so be nice to come .back
Stasi would have loved this europe is finished.
We are back end of October looking forward to it.
Ain't life difficult enough, i will definitely be back though, obviously i dont like all these new rules, many thanks Alex.
portugal will be rubbing their hands
It’ll probably happen there too. Or let’s see if it’s scrapped
Just listening to what you have to say is stressful, ive been coming to spain and spain only for 20yrs but id rather not and just stay herex
I will visiting Barcelona and Mallorca for the first time next week
Hopefully my experience will be great and not a disappointing one 😂😂😂😂
We really love Spain. It’s a shame that we won’t be returning if this new policy is implemented. No way I’m trusting their government’s system to safely contain all that information.
You go on holiday to have fun, not to worry about rules. Just don't go, went to Bulgaria a few weeks ago had great time. Cheap as well 😊
Not sure if you know this but would credit/debit/bank card details be required if you book through a travel agent since technically your contract is with them and they in turn handle the relationship with your hotel
The relationship between the hotel will be with you so it’s your details they will need to
Enjoy your new arrivals
Who will be sending their money back home
Balkens is way better
Forty years of trips to Mallorca and Spain ended by a badly thought out plan. These details are personal and subject to misuse too easily by the criminal fraternity, it would be impossible to police this well enough. It’s a shame but somewhere else will now get our business. Thanks for highlighting this issue.
have been visiting canaries for over 20 years-this summer was, and will be my last visit
I’ve not gone to Spain since lockdown was lifted. Spain and its islands were one of our favourites for many years, I gues it’s all over now, especially considering some of this information is a breach of my own rights in my opinion.why would they ever need to have banking details for an all inclusive holiday or my email address, simply no.
Imagine somebody will hack this system…..
You can always go to Clacton on Sea. Take your puffer jacket and umbrella.
I'm in tenerife at the moment, this could be my last Spanish holiday.
3 years to keep your data! Thats a lot of time for hackers to get into the systems and steal your details.
I cant get with this opinion of 'Im not going back' - I cant imagine going anywhere else on holidays. Im emotionally tied to the island ☺️
