Say whatever you might wanna say, Lang Lang is one of the best contemporary pianists. Of course, he has a great personality and almost theatrical performances. His playing is PERFECT
I remember listening to this song in a spanish soap opera called - Alguna vez tendremos alas (One day we shall have wings). I was probably in middle school and now im 35 and still come back to this song. Lang Lang truly did a beautiful redemption of this song. The drama was about a young teenager whose mother was abused by her step father and after a crime her and her brothers went to an orphanage. She went through so much trama and more but this was such a beautiful piece
I just finished to study this piece and made a video of it, I'm still memorizing it and just tought: which great pianists had recently made their own on this piano piece?, and found him, it's beautiful just hear those notes revealing the hidden theme inside, I never heard any other pianist achieving such clarity on this, just wonderfull!

Amazing playing, Lang can play all the difficult fast stuff, but he really enjoys these slow melodies and juicy chord changes, playing it just right and not like a robot. Critics don't like people who stray from the norm, too slow, too fast, too much rubato, etc. Keep going Lang, the Bach is excellent also.

I've played for 42 years now. A few years ago I realised that how your performance feels to you when you play isn't how it feels to the listener when they hear you indulging yourself! Playing to make others feel something is a gift. It would be wonderful if Lang Lang felt what we feel, but you know, does it matter? You still feel it right? And if you don't, what's wrong with you? :)
