    Recently got my 1st ever car/truck from my older brother which he got it off my dad and it’s been used of work in carrying /loading garage doors, it’s 13’ 6.7 powerstroke with 294k miles, only recently did it have problems with the fuel injectors but it’s been awesome and I love it

    I bought my 2015 6.7 powerstroke for 13,000 in 2020. Had 140,000 miles. I’m at 187,000 and it’s been an absolute dream. Some gasket changes and a thermostat housing. Now the 1996 7.3 I bought about 2 months ago has 406,000 miles. And the performance Diesel shop looked it over after I bought it. And they said that engine, besides a small oil leak is in amazing shape. Fires right up and makes good power good compressions. 1996 crew cab long bed 4x4 7.3 was bought for 4500$. Buy smart. And my recommendation, unless your a hot shot trucker that’s towing 25,000 all day everyday where you absolutely need modern day diesel power…. Buy an older diesel. Ideally pre-emissions. My 1996 gets 21 mpg at 70mph. I commute 110 miles a day in it

    Most of the diesel mechanics that I know prefer owning a gas truck vs diesel. Why? Because of the overall simplicity of maintenance and low cost of ownership. Also, most diesel truck owners get sucked into the hype and allure of the diesel engine that can generate "bookoo" torque and HP numbers. However, the vast majority of these diesel truck owners rarely tow anything. And, if they do tow a trailer or RV, it will be very infrequently (i.e 'maybe' a couple times a year). Thus, if you own a rig that does a significant amount of towing then, a diesel truck makes complete sense. However, if your trucks usage is more daily driver or making a once-in-a-while run to the local Home Depot, your wasting money owning a diesel. Just like my diesel mechanic friends told me when I was looking to buy my last HD truck, stay away from a diesel if you don't have a real need for frequent heavy towing.

      IMO that's high, 10-12 Ram 3/4ton and up are a little less desirable as they are the testing years of the new body style and trans. Not bad trucks by anymeans. But they lack alot of nice stuff, especially for $30K, try to weasel into a newer one!

      IMO grab a solid reliable one. Depending on what you’re hauling a stout 6.0l gasser is a good option as well it’s what my buddy uses with 2 zero turns and all the other odds n ends he loves it! Granted that’s just in town use predominately

    • @Only1ofT
      @Only1ofT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@CustomOffsetsTV see and I was thinking on if I should just get a gasser for what I do. That trailer I use is a 7x16 trailer with your standard zero turn along with blowers, weed eaters, shovels, etc. I just been a big fan of the diesel’s and always wanted one. Lol

      Being in your line of work myself, a gas Chevy with the 6.0 got me by for quite a while, and the cat eye years won’t break the bank when it needs repair.
      I didn’t seek out a diesel until I moved to hauling a 7x14 dump trailer and heavy equipment more frequently.

    I recently brought a 2000 2 gen with 66k miles a while go. The only mistake I made was realizing these things and diesels in general need to be always driven not sit for a couple years and drive every so often. So it’s been in a shop for steering problems only which isn’t bad but I rather be driving it on the road. Who knows I might sell it and buy something newer. Overall because it low miles doesn’t mean it will be great. But it’s a great truck

    for anyone who is trying to get a dually and customize it just remember that you need a good amount of space between the duals because if you load heavy the tires could touch and cause a lot of friction which can cause blow outs and other risky things.
