Nice one Graham. It’s a couple of years ago when I did that video. I do travel past the garden occasionally and it always looks well cared for, and resplendent in the summer months. Well done Graham and Billy. I’ve been to a lot of mining memorials, and your is certainly one of, if not the best 👍
Dave, in 1971 I very nearly had mi leg cut off but they saved it and I went to a Firbeck Hospital for injured miners, to recover for six months and I just no matter how I try I cannot remember a Firbeck Pit. Could it have been more near to Maltby than Firbeck, o' by the way we used them small tubs but are pit was only a slice of bread and fat pit. ha,ha,ha
I can remember Firbeck hospital John. The pit shut in 1968. I was still at school then, so I can’t remember it. But behind the memorial are the Pit Houses.

The remains of Firbeck Colliery are still there at Costhorpe, although not for much longer!
