yeah I went with the hurricane shovel because it was a little taller and if you look at the weight it is actually lighter then the phenix , how I don't know but I love and its the best shovel I've ever used for plugs anyway

I to had the phoenix, which was to short for me, as I was always bending over, there’s the hurricane shovel which is the same as the phoenix but much longer

I could not rememeber the name, but that is the one I will be getting. Really a great spade for plugs.

Unfortunately Pensacola parks have been hammered hard by metal detecting club outtings and others for years. I hit them all hard a couple years ago when I lived there with no luck except a couple deep pennies. Give you a one word hint where I did find silver there. Bluffs, lol. And a silver dime in a modern coin spill at Navarre Beach. Years ago people used to camp at the bluffs and I've found old coins at old camping sites there.

Some of those old houses might give you permission to hunt their yard. The lady that owns the second oldest house in Pensacola offered to let me when she saw me hunting one of the mediums by her house but I never did. Just didn't feel comfortable about digging holes in a strangers yard. Really regret not taking her up on the offer.

I understand that. Just this new XPD2 has a way of cutting through to the silver. Have already put a '37 Merc in the bag. Have not had much hunting as yet as the weather and work have been in the way. I have just gotten started. Same went in OK. If there are wheats around, the silver is not to far behind. Parks in OK were hammered hard to, just like everywhere. Definitely, the silver is not what is once was in the larger cities and towns. Thx for watching

@@rogerclaiborne6815 I hear you Roger. I to have a couple of missed opportunities and regret not digging. The last opportunity however, the owner walked straight up and asked what I was doing, told him I loved history, he then pointed behind me to an empty lot and said that one is mine too. Go at it. I am putting apts on it very soon. Whatever you find is yours. He then walked off. Got a nice piece of silver, war nickel and wheats out of it.

There's an old rail road track behind the building,

Wonder where that tie came from. Kinda small, tells me there may have been tracks around long ago

There was a lot of logging in the early days of Pensacola, several areas where they had built narrow gauge railways, usually near the rivers. In the 1800s unfortunately they deforested all the heritage pines and shipped them to Britain back in the day. I have been making my own maps of the tracks through the woods over the years.
