- In the second of our series of videos aimed at helping with the tricky task of identifying warblers, we take a look at Blackcap and Garden Warbler. BirdTrack reports show that Blackcaps are now here in significant numbers and garden warblers are just arriving so it's a good time to brush up on the songs and ID features of these two common species.
I have one of these beautiful boys in my garden, I saw him today and he sang for ages!
Good video. The Blackcap usually finishes its song with some very clear notes which the Garden Warbler never does. I often find that useful.
A Garden Warbler has started visiting my tiny back garden every day in an urban area of Wirral.
Just had a male in our garden for this first time on one of our peanut feeders, and even recorded it during the 1hr Birdwatch. Lovely to see. Seemed to be a bit lazy feeding! Hoovered up the bits of peanut that the other birds dropped to the bottom of the feeder.
I didn't hear the call of the Garden Warbler, why wasn't it included in the audio? Otherwise, a very helpful video.
Have both visit my garden, lovely birds.. ps this is in western France
thanks for this great and very easy to follow vidio,,,,blessings!
She talked right over the blackcap's song so still no idea what that sounds like.
The Blackcap makes more fluting, slightly slower tunes within it's song, more than the Garden Warbler does!
Ok well this would have been a lot more useful if you hadn't talked over all the examples of the birds singing!

Would nice to hear the birds, rather than just Su talking non-stop.
