The main ingredient in keeping a home organized is to first purge. Look at everything….do you really need/use it. We can do just fine (even better) with less. Less physical clutter means less mental clutter….for everyone in the family. Love your videos. Good luck with decluttering and organizing

Another one of your videos autoplayed after this and I have to say I so enjoy your channel and have so much respect for your dedication to preserving your family’s privacy. I’m a child therapist and the TH-cam “family channels” are a sore subject in my practice. You also spoke of appreciating the items we own without needing to consume so much new was also such a breath of fresh air. I decluttered along with you!

For that gap by the trash cans - try looking up a silicone stove gap edge cover/filler. They usually come in sets of two - but you can trim one on one side and lengthwise - and it would
fit that gap perfectly and could be removed and put on the very top rack of the dishwasher. I have clear ones on either side of my stove and I love them.
I had the same thought, hopefully it works. I may try it myself. 🙂🙃🙂
For your drawers, ,I would suggest containers to separate items better. It would be better so each family member would know exactly where things go. Walmart, Target, Dollar tree are places to look.
I've been doing a lot of cleaning, organizing, rearranging furniture and some decorating this month. I don't Spring clean during Spring because I like waiting until all the pollen stops. It feels good opening drawers and cabinets and seeing them all nice and organized.

I love to organize twice a year. During the summer, and in December. My daughter and I just finished her room today, and it took us about a week or so. I started the living room yesterday and will finish it on Friday. I will start my home office next week. I am doing room by room and not pressuring myself. I love to organize the whole house around September before the holidays start. It is so satisfying when it is done you realize all the things you have not used in awhile and apparently did not need. I think the rugs look great it add a warmth and color.
I'm so excited. I'm starting a new tradition for myself declutter my home and mind. Starting to do this in August. I made my list (I'm a list woman too) and ready to rock! Also, I'm starting to do my crafts early for the holidays. Thank you for the tips, inspiration! Keep them coming.

What I do to keep my kitchen in order is keep 1-2 pens in a drawer, the rest go in the office. I keep my instruction manuals in a basket in the pantry. All the kids container are in a basket in a cupboard. My glass cabinet houses my wine and champagnes flutes and cute tea sets. I decluttered and removed all the odd mugs and replaced them with the same look and styled the shelves with the same colour (white and black) plates and bowls. It looks like a store shelf. I don’t have a spice pull drawer but in the cupboard we use glass jars for some items such as pasta, sugar and cornmeal but the actual spices I keep in their original container but organize the smaller in a basket and line the larger containers behind. It not perfect but things aren’t falling out when I open the door or hitching when pulling out drawers which is the goal for me.

I do a daily tidy, so my house never seems messy. I keep a bin in the garage off our mudroom for donations that we add to as we stop using items. I literally go to the donation center every two weeks - even if it is just one bag. It keeps the donation items moving out.

Yay! You will love the roborock! I LIVE for mine! I use it all day every day. I got another one in the prime deal for the upstairs! I need to get better at doing a little each day.
I organize and declutter whenever the mood actually gets me up and moving. Always enjoy getting rid of extra things. Those two runners look very nice in your kitchen. Makes it warmer and cozy. I love any kind of oriental rug. God Bless.

I enjoy your videos, and I'm glad you took time to spend with Family, thst is SO IMPORTANT!
...As a former Professional Organizer / Housekeeper.... I recommend a more divided tray , or something similar for the regular " junk drawer ".... I also recommend a binder or something such as a hard file folder for all the Paperwork, Manuals, etc , with dividers, this can be kept in the kitchen area, but it's all together, not scattered . I keep my baking items all on one shelf, or two... everything is labeled. Also, keeping nuts in a sealed container ( even a large Ziploc bag ) in the refrigerator is needed, nuts will go rancid if not in the Refrigerator. I also keep my Flour in an Airtight container, I have several types of Flour, but I keep the Organic one in the Refrigerator, since I use that one the most.
I don't like having any cleaning supplies underneath the kitchen sink, I think it's the worst use of space, lol...( I often wonder why Builders still make this space kinda useless, lol) . I moved all the cleaning supplies to a smaller cabinet in the kitchen ( free standing) and used " sliding drawer " type metal organizers , and some pretty plastic bins for other items. Much better, lol.
I moved the can colletion bin, glass etc, ( recycling) to under the kitchen sink.
Clearly labeled bins is our key! Bins within bins, even if its a small bin in the junk drawer for pens and pencils. We also invested in a storage unit to protect our garage and basement from over crowding. We dont thrive in a mess and its amazing how much more functional our spaces are without all the "keepsakes" everywhere. Best $80 a month ever!

Hi Lauren, a tip for your garbage drawer if you can buy a roll of adhesive door or weather stripping like how you showed on your new chicken coup. Stick it along the in between space and that should prevent food and particles to get in there. That way you can wipe it clean and if it needs to be replaced you can down the road.
You have so any drawers, I’m envious 💕 it’s a good thing to keep silverware and serving items in one drawer. No sharp knives or any type of knife. They have magnetic strips to mount on the wall for knives if you don’t have room for a knife block on the counter. I have separated my cooking utensils from prep utensils. That way I have more room in that drawer. My prep utensils are kept by the sink. Just do a drawer at a time 😁 No junk drawer, eliminate it! Too many gizmos that you probably don’t use takes up a lot of room. Put things away where they belong and there’s no need for a junk drawer.

I am right on target with you Lauren, checked off my kitchen cabinets and pantry last weekend. But still so many storage areas to organize and declutter by Labor Day so the Fall decorating and festivities can begin! Thanks for the motivation to keep going!

My husband and I have lived in the same house for 26 years and we are building a home in Maine. We are slowly beginning the process of getting rid of nearly 3 decades of stuff. We really want to take the basics, plus a bit more and buy new a few new things there. I’m so ready to live with much less and we are actually looking forward to the purge. Just a decade ago, I couldn’t get rid of anything. I’m very sentimental and love everything in my home. Luckily, I’m over that.

Try some clear box tape to stop food from falling in there , it will not be seen and you can change it easily as needed I use this in areas where I need a easy cheap way to fix a problem , I hope this helps !!!

Family of 7! Our “extras drawer” because it’s been tidy now for at least 6 months -- is no longer labeled a “junk drawer “!!! I purchased ‘The Home Edit’ clear organizers from Walmart and they absolutely solved the messy right up and it has lasted! I have gone through our home - all bathrooms (5 of them 😳) the kitchen and the laundry room! The best for home organization.

I am an after Christmas purger. I ALWAYS have to clean out the house after all the new gifts and such. Having a smaller house it’s important for us to have everything in our house purposeful. I live by the 6/12 rule. By that I mean if it’s an item that hasn’t been used in 6 months it’s getting donated. If it hasn’t been worn in a 12 months, it’s donated. Granted I don’t have kiddos so it’s easier for me and my husband.

How about a little piece of quarter round trim to plug up that trash trap? Love watching. Inspires me to keep cleaning-not a statement I thought I’d ever make😂
I like the look of your new rugs. It brings color, into your kitchen and doesn't overwhelm it.
We go by 3 Golden Rules. Pick-up, Put-up and Clean-up as you go. Once our children were walking good, they were taught to pick one toy (could have 1 piece or 5 pieces, etc.,) to play with and when you are done, you put it back-up. Then you can pick the next toy or game you want to play with. Takes Consistency and Patience, but they learn, you can't dump out all your toys all over the house and walk away. It's good for them to learn early. They pulled their sheets and bedspread up on their bed to and put their dirty clothes into their hamper. I promise you will get many smiles and lots of laughter when you go into their rooms to do the mommy things. We also never let our children eat or drink anywhere except at the kitchen counter or table. As they learned one thing, we taught them another. We also taught them to bring their trash to the trash can, cups, etc., to the kitchen counter when they were ready, with a two-step stool for them to reach it. They also learn by watching the parents and older brother and sisters. :)

Love this. Always look forward to your videos. A tip for your kitchen trash : use caulk to fill the crack at front of drawer where food accumulates. Caulk works great and is easy to replace if it gets stained.

I go through every area of my house and declutter seasonally- that way I stay on top of it. That really works for me, then it never gets super bad. :)

I have three baskets in my entryway and I put things in there that don't have a place or that I need to put away. I just go through the baskets when I have a chance. When my kids are older I will let them help as they each have a basket.

I feel like organizing a kitchen is a bit more personalized based on the way someone utilizes their kitchen and its layout.
With that, I throw a lot of my cooking utensils in a larger drawer too. I got the bamboo adjustable dividers for mine, since many cooking tools vary in size. Maybe try that?

These are press on nails and they pop off all the time! My natural nails never grow and are super thin so I like to use press on nails to look nice.

Hey Lauren, Thank you for the video. I de clutter etc my kitchen usually when mood suits me, generally I do a very deep big clean beginning of each month, of my bedroom, Ensuite shower room kitchen, lounge every month, usually when I start, find it hard to stop, just starting I find is hardest. Love the organisation of your cupboards, and especially under sink looks great!. I agree, that robo rock is essential piece of kit, done an excellent job, your floor look real good. Your 2 new Chinese rugs look real nice, suit the kitchen. Should be pleased with yourself Lauren, good job. Look forward to all your next videos.

Busy decluttering my home as well. I’m a teacher so I always take this time to pare down and reset before school starts again. It’s a great feeling isn’t it? 😁
Labels make all the difference in the world and some have pictures. Right up against the cabinet where the cans go the trouble area gets a make-shift piece kinda made like a dust pan to cover that whole area so anything that lands there goes into the can for the most part or is easier to clean at least. Hugs
Decluttering happens for me after the Wyoming snow wanes, so later in spring. My biggest challenge is always the cooking utensils. I'm suspicious that they multiply during the winter lol A couple years ago I redid our pantry and what a gift for our family. Orderliness is so helpful. tfs ♡ looking forward to your next video.

Hi Lauren! I’m going to be decluttering our linen closets and plan to purge some old sheet sets. I’ve seen in your previous videos that you have purchased Brooke Linen sheets. I’m kind of picky when it comes to sheets because when we have guests I like for them to feel like they have just slipped into heaven when they go to bed. These sheets get a lot of good reviews, but I would love your opinion on how you like them and would you recommend? Hope you are having a wonderful summer! P.S. I love your channel! The music you set the videos to is soooo good. Watching your videos has become a bedtime routine because they are sweet and relaxing.
