This is how AoE2 still remains a playable game. Not the physical click click and standard Strats but the constant evolving that is produced by unique tech/civs, the cerebral element keeps things fresh . I am very sure that there are other tech/civs that can produce other types of Strats to disrupt the meta. All until the devs nerf it, and from what you are saying this civ/unit is more than likely be nerfed. What I am interested in is how after it is nerfed, is how this tactic influence meta in the near future.
First of all, love to see Sicilians use their unique bonuses. Secondly, YES destroy the current meta. Any time the meta gets too stale champions like YouPudding arise to shake things up. We need more players like this.
"Heroes arise to lead their brethren to battle" I like this destroying of meta - simple, smart, devious and not the dumb civ overpowering that Hindustanis and Gurjaras were
I absolutely love this strat. As a noobie, it really impresses me that he manages to get such quick castle times with all of that going on. All power to the Pudding!
Such a satisfying strat. I wonder what other CIVs can be played like this Hoang style. Then again there aren't many units that get upgraded automatically in castle age.
@@cambac-pro I think Bulgarians and Turks are the best to use that as a rushing tool. Especially Bulgarians because they have more efficient blacksmith.

I used the strategy after watching the first video at 800 elo on an arena style map, struggled to get through the wall and when I did my opponent had 30+ scouts, thought I was done but the donjon let’s you train spears, I got pikes and ejected them and 3mins later with a ram I got the gg
@@skipper472 it’s 800 elo, it would have worked for him due to the shock factor but he had the same issue getting to my base, couldn’t breach the wall and then I had seageants and pikes everywhere

This video is well researched and well delivered. Plus there is lot of content. Good rhythm. Fresh contents. And cherry on top, true enthusiasm and passion for the game and respect and love for the community both players and viewers!
I came up against this strategy, but at my elo it wasn’t done perfectly. And I was able to hold with archers and walls till I could get to castle and make slingers. I got lucky a lot though and it was a difficult game but it was fun.
Re: 30:58 Oh you're little T90 teaser with that "Someone has an even BETTER strat...... which I'll tell you in a few days.'" Right on brother. I'll tune in of course.
I'm so happy someone finally cracked the Sicilian code. Serjeants are such a cool and unique unit, and a lot more powerful than the pros seem to give them credit for.
@t90 i ran into ppl doing this strat and thought they are trolling, did not lose even once to it. I always win with a fast castle, but then again i almost always go fast castle vs sicilians. I do have a few weird ideas to counter it too which works for me.
When I saw the first Youpudding video, I thought: I want to try that to, being a troll. However I did not buy any DE expansions so I left at it. But this part 2 makes it very tempting for me to get the lords of the west expansion.
I love it! I love when strange new things break a highly tuned meta. Like Death and Taxes does to legacy MTG: everyone has a tightly tuned deck with a very efficient win condition and D&T just pulls the rug out from under it. I think it'll be good for the high ELO community to have to adapt to this.
One thing I've noticed, since everyone is so active in feudal, their walls are usually not well placed. Youpudding places his walls perfectly, so feudal attacks are not an issue at all.
I noticed a lot of "okey"s at the start, but aside from that awesome video! I didn't realize how high Youpudding's elo was, that makes it even more fancy. Can you try and convince him to apply for silver next season? :D
I managed to defeat a player who used this strategy after reading about it on Reddit. Basically did Malian FC -> castle + gbeto and it countered it nicely. But otherwise it is basically impossible to counter
If you were able to get a castle up, his strategy failed already. He should have hit you very early, much before you have a castle or even go to castle age.
tried it today on 1k elo - got tower rushed and once 2TC boom... not a chance. this strat wrecks everything :D awesome!!!! and my play was faaar from clean 11
U can try with Aztecs, Eagles-Siege-Monk full agro, need very less food. Strong eco due to+3 carry, faster military production, probably best monks (jus need to research sanctity and redemption if reqd). I was about 1k elo, jumped up to 1.4k + now with that strat in about a month, win almost 80-90% if the time. Do Drush in Dark age to disturb the enemy and prompt reaction in Feudal from the opponent.
Hoang uses the market pretty heavily with Celts. I think the market use allows people to focus harder on an early castle power spike, so any civ that has a power spike then could specialize this way
Wouldn't an Saracens fast castle be a hard counter to this strat? Better market value, and knights beating serjeants? Suggesting it, since this stragegy is pretty passive until castle age.
I guess fc knights? Or like fc longswords into seige? You need to have a similar timing and two barracks. I guess you could do the same with knights. Bulgarians and Dravidians can probably do a good job. Also add a monastery and seige? The timing is ridiculous
You can start producing these in feudal with 2/2 armor! Once you reach castle they immediately have 3/3 armor! Yeah, i can see how that's hard to deal with.
Finally some strategy on Arabia, feels like 2020 all over again. An actual strategic diverse gameplay in an RTS who would have thought. The only sad part is the fact it's locked behind a civ pick and a single cheese strat. Remember when Trush was an option, 1TC play, FC, Unique Units. These days, all we have is archery play followed by a massive boom. Thanks to the devs, but also tournament organizers that dont bother fighting this trend. (designing better maps for an instance)
To what extent are the devs to blame when people insist on playing almost exclusively on one of two maps? I mean, it's not even that the other maps suck or aren't balanced or anything of the sort
@@hrotha Dear, we played the SAME map for 20 years with massive shifts in meta, and quite much diversity towards the latter years of the old format of the game. (2016-2020). basically it boils down too that feudal age units don't stack up against sarjents, and then he rushes castle age. It's a hard thing to counter. You're melee is not going to be great, your ranged isn't going to be great. So just treat it like tower rush i guess? but you have to build barraks units.
im surprised they dont get used for tower rushing more often, yeah theyre slightly more res than a tower but theyre tankier and you dont need to send half your eco forward
They're more expensive than Feudal towers but not substantially stronger, so if the opponent just goes onto stone and makes their own it'll be more efficient, plus they're much harder to wall in to stop vils battering down (and you probably don't want to if you're making Serjeants). And obviously those Serjeants might protect the Donjon in case of vil fighting but in that case you're making food and gold units, and you need to be on stone, and you need to make farms too. It's just so resource intensive.
I recently saw 1600 elo doing it on ranked. It is even more extreme, he sent vills to shraggler trees, open mills and mining camp, no lumber camp, no farms, 20+2 FC. Reached castle age at 13 mins, a lot of vills on gold and defend that one gold with a single donjon, and bought all the food and sold all stone, then he was 22 vills vs 30 vills when reaching castle age, but once he make a few serjants opponents had nothing to defend because he was still in feudal. So opponent resigned despite vill and score lead. I don't think this is a very innovative strat, it is simply abusing serjant's overpowering stats which is nothing new. Serjant with a lot of both melee and pierce armour has always be a painful unit to deal with. The only counter is monks which at lower elo doesnt work very well, and knights which are easily countered by mixing spears with serjants. Then if you are in feudal age then it is surely loss because all units does 1 damage to castle age serjant.
Imagine this but whith two tc eco and sergant spam like you go castle and you tc make a bunch of farms while your market buys everthing then stabilize while they try to defend
