    This name always makes me think of one of my favourite moments from Edvard Grieg's incidental music for Peer Gynt, 'Solveig's Song'; it's one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful songs, and always makes me think of Norway.

    oh I thought it was Danish bc my friend from Copenhagen had that name except she pronounced it Soul-Vy -last syllable had an long

    Ahhh this is my middle name! Someone I know who lived in Norway for a while, an American, SWEARS it has a g sound on the end but I knew it didn’t! Thank you!

      No it’s not. My mom’s Finnish, not Norwegian but she gave me that name. I grew up elsewhere, not in Scandinavia. And my dad, like you called me Sol-way. Everybody did, even my mom I guess gave up correcting people and also called me Sol-way as long as I can remember. The first time someone said my name correctly was when visiting family in Finland. I was 12 or 13 years old. My cousin said “Suuulvej!” And I was like “🤔dude, my name is Sol-way” “No, it’s not!” 😅
