I watched you build that boat ... Not every episode but quite a few and you've come out with a beautiful vessel.
You seem like a fantastic couple who work well together ... I wish you all the best and Fair winds and following seas.
Enjoy your journey ... Even when the seas aren't that friendly.

    Garrett and Ruth,
Another great sail; and a beautiful day. I couldn't believe my eyes, guacamole without tacos. You must have ran out of tortillas... Smile... Thank y'all for sharing.
    Cheers!
Blue Skies, Fair Winds, and Following Seas.
    Faithfully,

7 knots that is impressive for a solid wood boat, that is what dream sailing is about.
Because we all love you, Readyviva will need some life lines soon, that rail is just at tripping height, we do not want to loose one of you or both, please life line ASAP.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video.

If your not a shiprite already, your home built sailing vessel should qualify you to be a shiprite .
Damn you sanded your house deck down and treated it with teak oil........just basics and looks fantastic 👍
It would really be nice to see other sailboaters take care of their wood work the same way 👍
Luv it.....steady as she goes 👍
Shiprite Salt and Tar way to go 👍

At 12:00 Cojo Beach. (I anchored there at night. I'm in Oxnard Channel Islands Harbor.) That warm shore breeze is probably the Santa Ana winds. They're a katabatic (like the Williwaws up in the Aleutians but less intense. You're not going to be capsized by one. Beautiful boat. I've made a couple of wood strip kayaks, furniture, construction -- so of course my boat's all fiberglass on a foam core. You do enough woodwork around water you get PTSD about anything that might rot, swell, burn - but on someone else's boat? Sheer joy. Welcome to California

On a planet that seems to have evolved to a place where this old man too frequently can not suppress the tears, "I'm coming too." Please keep keepin' it real. You are one of the last bastions of hope. For those of us whose 'ship of dreams' sailed past the jetty for the last time long ago, you feed us vicariously. I have a belly full of love and hope thanks to you. Que le vaya bein.

Thank you for saying what I could not, and for saying it well.
My head is still 25, my body is not and I’m having now to admit so, which is not easy.
Let’s not give in entirely though, where there’s water and a boat there’s still great inshore days to be had, just not the circumnavigation I once dreamed of
Never mind, it’s Ruth and Garrett’s time and they’ve earned it in buckets.
A whole world of thanks are theirs for letting us share in a little of their achievement building Redeviva and their love of sailing to new horizons.
      Asi es la vida. 😎🤝🍻

    Hi Garrett and Ruth.
It appeared that your running back-stays were fouling the mizzen shrouds as they are led inside the shrouds to the stern. Whilst it is common on modern Bermudian racing yachts to lead them to the stern; on your Gaff ketch it should be sufficient to lead them to the chain plates of the mizzen. Then when going downwind the leeward ( slack) runner block is hauled ( with a line attached) to a block on the main shrouds to keep it from flogging the mainsail. Also try and rig the radar reflector further up, as high as possible ( and in the correct orientation) to be most effective.
Well done Ruth with the cabin top: was wondering why it had "gone black": must get very hot inside in the sun?
    Great music.

Well lucky you, been around Point Conception four times with no wind. Consider a preventer when running down wind, leading from the end of the main boom to the stem, thru a block, leading back to the other side to a winch or cleat. nothing worse than a all standing jibe, been there, broke the goose neck one time, also i like a boom brake, when the boom isn't any further out than the bullworks, great channel, still have the heavy Hershoff pattern anchor that Memo is going to bring down , when he catches up. Allfernow, Doug.

Great to see you dudes out and enjoying the fruits of your labour. Great vids. I followed the same path building my boat and now living aboard for the past 20 years. Your're heading south and I'm heading south, but on different sides of the equator. I'm actually heading for Hobart in Tasmania where they hold a Wooden Boat festival bi-annually.(Biggest in southern hemisphere) You dudes would fit right in. Enjoy your cruising into warmer weather.

G, Teak decking systems makes a great sealer that gets darker with extra coats, mostly golden hues though. And it doesn’t attract dirt like teak oil. R, glad you covered up lass, you were going to get 2nd degree burns in that SoCal sun.

Great sailing vessel. I have to admit that you didn't change the design a little and add a wheel, comfy captains chair, and a cover over the helm station so the person on watch or just at the helm could be out of the weather. Easy to see from all the incredible work done you could have incorporated a dry, comfortable helm station. OR is one already in future plans?

Been following your build for the last couple years. Boat looks great. Sails really well. From one sailor to another, you should get an adjustable spinnaker pole made up that can clip to your mast with a hook on the end to push out your jib when you are wing on wing. It significantly improves the jib draw going down wind. The other thing you should consider when running down wind is a preventor tackle on the main boom. That boom is a killer if the wind shifts and she comes flying across. That said, I wish you many adventures out there.
