Italian horror is an acquired taste. Either you love it or you don't. And if you didn't grow up watching it than your'e more inclined to not like it. Suspiria is massively influential. This film came out in the 70s but looks like its from the 80s because so many horror directors cited it and Dario Argento as an influence on them like Carpenter, Craven, and Romero.
I didn't see them growing up and got introduced to them ten years ago for a friend at work and they are my favourite horror films, dario argento, Mario bava, and lucio fulcis horror have a feeling no other horror films have. It's the atmosphere
Not a popular thing to say. I laugh at some of it. Then I feel bad because you see they really tried. Then I laugh some more thinking how people gush over the movie.
Sorry to hear you've been having so many copyright problems bro. I will continue to support tho, maybe even donate a little cash if you need it, I'm a very rich man
This is one of my fav horror movies Over 40 years old! I would not want to stay in that dance academy, the colors and the dark shadows would give me nightmares
Also, Helena Markos, the head of the coven, was not "In" the fire, she faked her death because the locals were getting wise to her after her battle with a white witch (as revealed in The Mother of Tears) which explains why she was so weak, though it would have been better to mention it in Suspiria but it would have broken the mystery at the end. Plus Helena Markos is centuries old. It is also hinted that Suzy Bannion was a latent white witch in the later films and they wanted to sacrifice her to return Helena to power. It is also hinted that the school coven was draining power from Helena and she was a bit upset about it.
Hey Decker, I have a movie suggestion. Well actually two, they are called "The collector" and "The Collection." Horror movies that are something like "Saw" but done better.
The last time my friends and I watched Suspiria we got talking about the death scene with the wire. Trying to come up with a possible reason they’d have a wire storage area. It was a good laugh.
Decker, dear Mr Shado, seeing as I am early and thus this you may see this comment, here goes: if I lived near you (and not here in South Africa), I would seriously want to have a drink (or many) with you. You are a top tier internet personality and seem like a dude I would love to be friends with. I love your reviews dude, and have been watching for years. Much love from South Africa.
@@zetokaiba5867 Erm, I wrote that a shit long time ago. No, none of what I wrote is a joke, however in retrospect I think I should change that bio. I really enjoyed this movie for the beautiful sets and artsy close shots. But omg the music IS loud! Loud af! And it does seem to drag a bit in the pacing. By the end, though I think it all works well. Thank you for reviewing!! I am now ready for the remake ^_^
1. Check out Argento's Deep Red (Starring David Hemmings). It might be the master's best movie. 2. Check out Argento's international cut of the original Dawn of the Dead, "Zombi". The pie fight is a lot shorter, Goblin's full music score is restored (Romero barely used it) and there are other changes (I consider them improvements). 3. FYI: Every close-up stabbing in all Argento films are performed by the director himself wielding the weapon.
Patricia is on ONE of the rooftops. The hotel had at least one terraced level and the window of Sonia's room is shown to open out onto one of these. When she falls through the skylight, you can see that there was a higher level of hotel above it.

In Germany you don't wave for taxis. They wait in certain places, e.g. at airports and you take the first one in line. If none is waiting there you have to wait or call one by phone
A Dario Argento marathon would actually suit your channel well, Decker. You thought Phantasm was bats#!+ insane? Wait till you see the uncut version of Phenomena
Hey, Decker! I've got some movies I think you might like to review: The Keep (1983) and Train to Busan. I also think you'd like Starchaser: The Legend of Orin (1985)...which would be good to crossover with Creepy. That and Transformers the Movie(1986) just because it's one of my favorites. Thanks for all the laughs!
Amazing review! Suspiria is quite an artistic movie. Really nice looking and interesting. I would love to see your review of Don't torture a duckling. I like that movie.
Asmodeus Poisonteeth. :) So nice to find another who has read at least some of the Redwall Series. :) You made me very happy with that reference Decker
As someone who did ballet for a few years, I can assure you it's exhausting and painful. In addition, I did toe ballet, and it was excruciating. I was also doing jazz and tap dancing. They were less painful. But being 10 years old, and seeing your toes bruising was enough to turn me off from participating in it.
I did about this films soundtrack for my Dissertation, first time I’d heard about it surprisingly so when all was said n done I saw the remake there on Amazon Prime n was gonna watch but then I showed my girlfriend the 77’ soundtrack and from there we watched the original, we were gonna compare the two films afterwards but never got around to the remake because god damn if the original ain’t so vibrant and unique on its own, didn’t need a remake imo this film still stands very high, so mind-boggling made me so uncomfortable and the colour scheme was wonderful
I love this movie. I have the 2 disc special edition and the soundtrack, really worth it. I would like to see Inferno and Mother of Tears reviewed on here one day, they deserve it, too.
This is the first review that ive used subtitles on, nothing wrong with the review's sound its just..The movie itself deafened me instantly a day or two ago..
Great review Decker! I quite enjoy this movie yeah it's silly but it's from the 70's just role with the punches I only just seen this about 6months ago and it's the first Argento movie I've ever seen and I say its easily a 3 or 4 out of 5.

WTF? The "ending" starts at the moment Suzy flushes her doped food down the toilet and is attacked by a bat. She then goes into her room, reads the note and then goes to search for the secret area where the nightly footsteps go. She avoids detection of both kitchen staff and coven witches before happening across Helena Markos's room and stabs her to death. That sequence takes over SEVENTEEN MINUTES!

@@markpugh6808 Deep Red Is not dubbed
I think the visuals and music were some of the best and most effective out of just about ANY horror movie ever.
I haven’t had the patience to sit through all of this movie, but it’s definitely one of the most visually interesting horror movies ever.
The last 20 min of the movie was by far the most entertaining part of the movie for me.
Not a popular thing to say. I laugh at some of it. Then I feel bad because you see they really tried. Then I laugh some more thinking how people gush over the movie.
This movie is a goddamn atmospheric masterpiece.
Don’t you love it when you kill some force of evil and then everything they own just destroys itself? Makes cleaning up those messes a breeze
Ehh then you can't sell their ashes and demonic silverware
Dammit not this movie!!! Some people may say it wasn't that terrifying but it kind of traumatized me as a child. Especially the scene with the dog.

Donald Sergento
ARGENTO over ARGENTINO
The Goat

The collector was actually supposed to be a Saw prequel, but it was different enough that they changed it to an entirely different movie.

Terrific pacing as well next to the bloody kills
That German ballet academy school the way it's lit with the flashy neon colors of pink and red, that's the stuff of nightmares
I would not want to stay there
The movie plays on the malevolent promise; the fear of age comes the need to recapture youth once lost
It's also ranked on multiple retrospective lists as an undeniable masterpiece to even featuring on Bravo’s ‘The 100 Scariest Movie Moments’ ranked at the extremely impressive number 24 spot
It's got great concepts too; The fear of age and with it inevitable end, the pressures of harnessing untapped potential, the daunting struggles of the ever-changing human body and the haunting concept of an innocence entirely lost
These are all mental obstacles we face throughout our lives at one stage or another
At its core lies the terrifying progression from adolescence into adulthood but portrayed through the eyes of the very manifestation of evil unrelenting in its attempt to prevent all these concepts from destroying the soul and the human vessels we inhabit
