This so happens to teach more about sound, as I'm just using a normal speaker from a shop, housed on my desk. Now, I'm trying to set up stands to place the speakers on, to follow your advice.
Thank you again for everything, and keep up the good work!

Great review- I have a pair as well and all your points are spot on. One thing I would add is these allow you to play coherently at low volumes.
I wish everyone tried an AMT tweeter and understood what it means to have clear highs that pick up transients very clearly but don’t sound harsh or sibilant. The front bass ports are also tremendous.
My first intro to AMT tweeters were the Adam ARTist 5, followed by these. I was so impressed, I purchased a pair of Eve SC208 for my TV/ Hi-fi system.

  • @erikduijs2723
    @erikduijs2723 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I have these too, and I'm still very happy with them as they sound amazing :)
I have the woofer turned down a little bit and the tweeter turned up a tad to compensate for my room (and my personal tendency to mix bright). I also notch around 130Hz in my DAW; not quite sure if that's my room or if the speakers are slightly hyped there, perhaps a combination of both.
Regarding the lack of 'clickyness' of the volume controls, just set them at the 0 notch and use the volume control on your audio interface. At 0 they can already go louder than I'd want anyway; the amps really pack a punch!
For people on a budget and interested in Adams, the T7Vs (or even T5Vs) are also really good. Not quite A7X level, but surprisingly close considering the price tag.
But good review Michael, and congrats with your new monitors :)

Very detailed review! I've been looking for an upgrade for my (very first) M-Audio monitors. But you mentioned that there's a lot of setup needed for the A7x's. 7:14 “you can make [them] more smooth”...
Would you be willing to make a video on adjusting your monitors settings to your room? That seems impossible being that, on a brand new pair of monitors, you don’t know if it’s the monitors that are too sharp and crispy or if it’s your room causing them to sound that way. Complex topic I know

Perfect review! In the studio, I can see how this slightly playful, flamboyant sound could be highly undesirable in critical, precision work. Let me offer another perspective as an audiophile: Adam A7X are speakers that make everything sound amazing with their slight U-shaped response which has led to them being highly recommended in audiophile circles. The A7X's add just that little bit of cut and slam while still possessing an incredible degree of precision and low distortion for musical enjoyment.Their slightly tipped up sound on the frequency extremes has resulted in them becoming a go-to recommendation over Emotiva and KEF. This makes me wonder why doesn't Adam make a rebadge of these in the consumer market. They make the Martin Logan speakers at your local Best Buy's Magnolia section sound like a mushy, confused joke. I would imagine Adam would sell these by the boatload if they did.

Hello there, great review. I have a question that bothers me and i was hoping you could help me. I have a room size of around 3m x 3x and it is still acoustically untreated and i'm using yamaha hs7's and the monitors are 8cm away from the wall so my question is, would it be necessary for me to buy front ported monitors like a7x(which are by the way also my dream speakers) and a sub question, would a7x's be an overkill for my small room ? I would have gone with hs8's initially but i asked an audio engineering professor and he told me to go with hs7's for my room size. Oh and i have 1 more question that still bugs my mind till these days, i noticed yamaha hs7's have a very weak low freq response and that really bothers me because i'm an edm producer (i'm checking my sub with 2.1 gaming speakers atm which is not ok, i want studio monitors to do this with), so there are 3 options as far as i can logically conclude; 1.) either the yamaha hs7's are too weak on the low end, 2.) its is because the room is untreated, 3.) the speakers are too close to the wall. If you have any idea please let me know, i would really appreciate it. Btw i'm loving your videos, very clear & in depth. Big thumbs up!

Had these awhile,.....does it make sense to bring the bass down a Db or so when working in a small room ? (3m2) I’ve never messed with the back controls

Hello thank you for your review of Adam Audio A7X. I am about to invest in a pair of A7X you also mentioned a program with a mic that put an eq on top to correct the acoustic of the room. Can you give more details on this? Thank you!

Perfect presentation. You have just sold this model to me. Adam Audio should nominate you to be a president of the company. It was a pure joy to watch this video. Subscribed to the channel.

Do u need subwoofer with them or do they work without it? Im looking for a great pair of speakers for a good price and I think these aren't that highly priced in Finland but do they need a subwoofer for mixing/mastering?

Between woofer and tweeter you have "225 watts". That should be ample for any modern room, but if you're looking at a hall of a big landed house, perhaps their smallest subwoofer should be a good addition. For apartments in cities, this is more than enough!
