- Yep I got a good price on it. Pretty nice car. Figured if I can fix it cheap I can flip it or drive it. Seems to be a pretty nice car. So let’s dig into this thing & see what it needs to get it fixed
I've made it all the way to 360,000 me without the problem the trick is the fuse panel under the hood there is number one and number two fuse take out the number one and leave it out and never have the problem

Busy day I bought this car and the power steering is out. I don’t know if it needs a rack and pinion like how the it kind a looks like it’s connected to the wheel or if it needs a motor which is tucked down below behind the engine, like towards the center of the car under the hood down on the bottom, there’s an exhaust shield over it, my friend at the junkyard said that it’s that it’s that motor that’s back there and not the rack and pinion
Don't know what you ever did with this car but I have the exact same car with 237,000 mi and it still runs like a top.

@@bobsclassiccarsparts8772 Man those are some great cars I'll tell ya. I've only replaced the brakes once, the thermostat and the window regulator.
Change the the front two tires and get the code reset the traction on the tires is causing the electric power steering motor to overheat and cut off as a safety hazard from ruining itself once changed it will run

As you found out it is electric power steering, have the code scanned. More then likely it's the steering wheel position sensor. I recommend a Motorcraft sensor and you will need a scan tool to make the car learn the new sensor. Scan for ABS codes for the Trac light. The tire pressure light is either a low tire or a bad sensor. Scan PCM for check engine light. Does your buddy with the shop in Wake Forest do late model or only classics?
The car is currently at that shop & they have told me it’s the power rack. I bought one & they are installing it. That will be in the next update on the car

I had the same problem, I took it to the shop and all they did was change the battery and did a system reset and the steering went back to normal

Did you get this fixed? I ask cuz I just bought this car for 4500... The previous owners told me they had recently replaced the rack and pinion. ... Well suddenly while driving service advance trac service light came on and service power steering now.... I still had power steering until I went to drive it the following day. I then asked the previous owner if he had put new rack and pinion due to power steering issue. He said yes. I called Ford and they said I need a new rack and pinion.... Why would of it been resolved temporarily when the previous owner swapped out rack and pinion? I am heart broken I have spent so much money on this car to have this issue. .. I can't afford to have wrong parts be installed.

It's where you were looking and said something was missing. Attaches to the serpentine belt.
It has electric steering. I had a new rack installed & it drove fine after that. Cost about $800 ! I made a video of me picking the car up & driving it.
I heard alot of good things about this car.. so I'm thinking about getting it.. is it worth getting over Honda Accord or Toyota Camry of the same year?
Its a great car, but if you can get an accord go for it!!!

Mane deleted the video electric power steering module located by the rack and pinion.

i bought the same car, same year, same motor.. same fkn problem lol.. i hear its gonna be about $2000 to fix. others are sayin only ford can do it.. sounds like i got fkd. figured $2300 was too good of a deal lol
Less than $1000 to fix this one. Local shop did it
turn car off, restart, steering resets it self
Tried that, didn’t work. It set a code, tried clearing the code. Nothing. Watch the second video posted above
@@bobsclassiccarsparts8772 have the same car, what I suggested usually works for me. Got a letter from Ford saying they were working on a remedy, that was about 5 years ago when I bought the car. Car is now almost 20 years old, guess they're still working on it ( lol )
