- If Italian barbecue restaurants were a thing, and I was a chef at a one, this amazing grilled balsamic beef would be one of my signature dishes. The aged balsamic-based marinade is perfectly balanced, and produces one of the most delicious versions of grilled beef you will ever taste. Enjoy!

In some parts of the Middle East, aka kebab land, they use pomegranate molasses for marinating the meat. Kabab-e-torsh, a northern Iranian specialty, is an example of that. Pomegranate molasses taste very much like balsamic vinegar. So, I am sure this tastes amazing.
Kebab land! Lmao I love it. My dad’s from the northern part of Iran, now I wanna ask him to make that
The cashier making trumpet sounds is hilarious
Chef John: “If people are watching it totally looks like We know what We are doing, which of course We do, *ALLEGEDLY!!*“
Oh, Chef John. 🤣🤣
Chef John has a singular delivery of the recipes he features. The presentation is delightful and the subtle humor is endearing.
I just made this. I used barrel aged pomegranate balsamic vinegar from Texas Hill Country Olive Co. and omitted the honey. Didn't want it to be too sweet. Also used Sicilian infused olive oil for a little extra flavor and fresh rosemary out of the garden. Turned out amazing. Served it on some yellow rice with some fresh green onions. Thank you Chef John for all the years of incredible recipes and humor. I look forward to enjoying even more videos
You made my wife cry-laugh for 5 minutes with the Worcestershire sauce joke. Thank you for that! 😊
Chef John, your fantastic sense of humor adds more flavor to your recipes.
That was perfect Italian pronunciation! I’m impressed, Chef!
Perfect timing chef John! I was looking for a fresh idea for this holiday weekend and this looks great 😃👍
They should make some kind of Memorial to Chef John. Maybe a weekend? Make it a long one.
But, thankfully, Chef John is still with us.
@@danielmargolis3210 Yup and we can all be Thankful. Maybe we can give Thanks?
We could also give our kids baskets and send them searching for hidden shakers of cayenne.
@lawrencetaylor4101 The old thanka thanka!!
Chef john is still kicking on youtube is amazing its like he's in his own bubble which i love still the same style same chef john 16 years he's had this channel amazing (yes i checked)
God your timing of humor is great… the cashier was making trumpet sounds😂😂
Very happy to see our boy Chef John still cookin after all these years
Sirloin is a great choice for this. It's a bit leaner than other steak cuts so it is less likely to cause flareups. Thanks for the great idea.
I almost always use sirloin for any sort of kebabs. Marinate for sure, so it isn't too dry without much marbling!
yay! always on watch for whatever recipe John posts. cuz' they are all fantastic!
So timely, Chef John! Thanks!!
I have to enjoy the grilled dishes vicariously in my apartment where grilling on the terrace is not allowed. :(
George Forman grill?
Get yourself a cast iron grill pan. It’s not exactly the same but for in an apartment it’s still decent.
Omg. That should be against your human rights
That's unconstitutional!
I'm so Sorry... what the H E Double Hockey sticks is a terrace for if not living outside and enjoying a BBQ. Do you have an HOA... they need to be outlawed.
If you really what to enjoy a BBQ flavor... try some Liquid Smoke and Cook in an Electric Skillet... It Ain't Perfect .. but it's better than Nothing.. Good Luck.
ND HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY.
Thanks, Chef John. Needed something different for my weekend grill.
This looks yummy, Sir. Thanks for sharing this
When I was in the service down in Ft Knox a Hawaiian lady would make this for our beef or steak strips so delicious can’t wait to try it today. It’s been since the early 90s since I had this delicious meal.
You are after all the Matt Frewer of your marinated beef skewer.
👍
Made this for dinner tonight. Very good flavor! i also put peppers and some onion pieces on the skewers.
Chef John,
This looks absolute 🔥!! 😋💜
When grilling, charcoal is the best.
The taste and texture it provides to the grilled meat or vegetable, is second to none.
Wow, the finished dish, looks amazing.
I'm a sucker for marinades, love this one!
I just made this tonight and it was super yummy! Thank you for sharing!
Looks so delicious.thanks for sharing recipe.
This seems remarkably similar in recipe and preparation to Pork Agrodulce, which is cubes of pork shoulder (or similar cuts) soaked, and then braised for several hours in the marinade, making a sauce. Fresh garlic mashed potatoes are wonderful with this! (Which I believe was also Chef John's suggestion!) I'm sitting here, realizing my mouth is now watering. I love this stuff!!!
I made this for the fam the other night, this was perhaps the best beef marinade I've ever tasted. Everyone cleaned their plates which is rare for my beef averse girls. I did use the overnight marinade method but couldn't find aged balsamic simply because they didn't have any at my supermarket so I just used plain old organic balsamic.
Made these for dinner last night. Absolutely delicious!
God bless you, Chef John!
My family is from Dagestan(North Caucus, part of Russia), and this marenade for scewerd meat is almost the exact eay my father makes the traditional Shashlik. White onion are the more common choice, and he usually adds cilantro/parsley(which I hate). And the traditional serving is as a pile of scewered meat with a bunch of chopped onion and greens on top.
Anyway, while you won't find this in Italian grills, you are very likely to find it in Caucasian/Georgian grills.
Shashlik is popular in a lot of post Soviet countries, kinda the answer to western worlds barbecue. We used to make our with white vinegar, lemons, black pepper and of course salt. Most often we would use pork though which I suppose is not very popular in Dagestan.
@@rihardsrozans6920makes sense, i definitely seen similar dishes from Uzbeks and other former ussr countries, especially the southern republics.
Pork meat is definitely less common, but still surprisingly common for Jews who came from a muslim republic, just not in this form. I definitely need to give that a try
That looks incredible Chef John. Gotta try this one cause I absolutely love beef on skewers. Summer is getting here and I'd do this with grilled veggies.
Made this last night. 8 hour marinate. Delicious!!!
Yes! Pinchos! Yum. I'm gonna try this recipe, too
Yes! I'm excited for grilling recipes!
the same basic preperation is amazing on pork chops grilled.
I am going to sous vide and then sear on the grill. lol your recipes consistently taste great. Thanks for the awesome recipe
Looks incredible.
That look amazing and delicious 😋
Chef John, I absolutely love your videos, your voice is so soothing and you really make me laugh, I have never made any of your recipes but I look forward to your new videos each week
Wow Chef …. Wow what a find !
Tried it this weekend it was a massive hit . Australia 🇦🇺
Gave it try, it’s very good
My daughter in law loves balsamic vinegar so I’ll have to serve this the next time I have her over. Thanks for the recipe!
That looks like a great recipe for jerky marinade
That looks delicious! ❤️
This is awesome. I'd make it in a heartbeat.
12 hours marinating time you're gonna need more than one heartbeat
That looks so amazingly good
So proud for this guy.
Ive been making the same thing with portabella mushrooms for a long time. I just dont marinate them. Basting them with the balsamic marinade while they are grilling i feel gets them perfect. It always turns out good.
I was just thinking a good thick, hearty slab of mushroom would work well this way! Or, just alternate the sirloin chunks with your favorite mushroom a la kebabs!
Rosemary's Baby, that looks unbelievably good
Cheers chef John
yum, as always
thank you
I use balsamic vinegar to cook thin slices of beef (like those used for sandwiches) with bell peppers in a pan. Quick and easy.
Thanks for showing me what I'm making Sunday night for dinner... 😜
Hi Chef Johnson,
It's very good recept. Is soon whether in MN will more stable I will try do this.
Thanks again.
What?
That looked every bit as good as that knife looked sharp. Nicely done.
I love Chef John
Request for CJ - While I’ve been a huge fan of your vids for ages, something that captivates me as a home cook is your pairings. Every main course vid (like this) has a “served with….” component and I wonder - Would you be willing to teach us home cooks how to select good side dishes or accompaniments for our mains??
Looks incredible! ....but if no grill, is this something I can do in the oven somehow? Thanks Chef John
They look delicious
Waiting for that Italian-inspired potato salad recipe...
My personal favorite is Goetta on rye with swiss and spicy mustard.
Have a nice weekend. 😊
I’d drink that marinade!
Thanks to the marinade these somehow look extra grilled, a level beyond a mortal's grilled
OMGOSH!! Fantastic! 💕🙏🙏
We just grilled chicken skewers yesterday evening, Chef John - thinking of you 👨🍳
Looking Forward to that Italien potato salad, john
Good with tzaziki !
And pita
The same preperation is great on pork/pork chops- I never considered it on beef- but it looks like a winner
Which means it would work equally as well on chicken for dinner...
See Chef's Pork Agrodulce!
My favorite pork tenderloin that I make is a simple balsamic and dijon mustard marinade.
The way i salivated throughout this video 🤤
have you a favorite knife sharpener? also what cut of beef was that, great eats
Great video as usual. Italian Potato Salad? Love potato salad. What is "Italian Potato Salad?"
The real question is, did this cashier even realize who was buying those mushrooms?? Or was he too busy making trumpet sounds to realize he was in the presence of a LEGEND? I hope it was at the very least a FANFARE for this KING OF ZING, this CHIEF OF BEEF, the one and only, CHEF JOHN! 👏👏👏
Hmmm. My wife's on a low carb diet, going to make some pineapple cocktail to go along as a side. Great recipe idea, as always, Frere Jean.
My food wish is an episode about Goetta!!!
it's so delicious! it's tricky to cook but very versatile. There is only one brand of Goetta, it's Glier's *not a sponsor*
Chef John You are Cool My Friend!! 💜
I love your basting brush 😂👍
Hello from Sacramento CA
Awesome recipe chef, please show japanese mazesoba recipe please 🥺 please
it's almost harvest time - grilled corn recipes incoming!
I'd crush that dish with just some olive rosemary focaccia on the side.
Mouth watering
this looks so good, who else is going to make this asap?
Very much enjoy the disposable basting brush.
A like just for the western spaghetti rhyme (which came late, and of course, we’re all waiting for)
I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this now that the Memorial Day Weekend heat is upon us, but I've been wondering what to do with my bottle of aged balsamic I've got in the pantry that wouldn't just be salads. Definitely going to try this!
A nice bed of your pilaf rice would have been fantastic Chef!….and Sergio Leone is awesome. 😎
🙏 *FOOD WISH:*
Smoked brisket Benny w chipotle infused hollandaise sauce (like Voula’s in Seattle)! 👈🙏
Well. Started my marinade
I am hungry now
of course, the best use of balsamic vinegar is on vanilla ice cream. I'm not even kidding.
I will try that out sounds intriguing
@@lindainparis7349 especially if you can get a good quality, thicker balsamic, just a few drizzles makes for a very nice dessert
@@lindainparis7349 with a couple of drizzles from a thick, quality balsamic, it makes for a wonderful dessert.
On what flavor ice cream? Vanilla?
@@ronrampfel2197 Yep, Vanilla.
Portobello Mushrooms would be a good substitute for Trumpets if you can’t find them.
sounds like the History Guy.
Chef, Did you marinate the schrooms?
Divine
Chef John show how to grill the mushrooms
I think I need to buy a grill.
Buy a summit Weber Kamodo E6. Best grill in the world!
@@user-gc3ec4mi9s taking notes!
I would do brown rice with it
Ahhh barbecue agri dolce...
