    I upgraded from a 1080p tv to the mu 8000 this past july and honestly have no regrets. A lot of reviewers want to knock this tv on viewing angles but i have huge living room and the viewing angles have been fine. If you don't want to blow the money on going QLED I highly recomend this TV.

    • @humppppa
      @humppppa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think QLED and SUHD is the same thing

    • @RM-zy2pp
      @RM-zy2pp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Humppa it is the same but he means this tv on the review is the one he bought which is a mu8000 and the curved would be mu8500 which i just ordered this is non suhd qled it is one step below but it has 4k uhd hdr color extreme its one step up from regular 4k uhd

    • @robmattson
      @robmattson 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, just did an angle test of this TV against all the OLED competitors at Best Buy and the difference is technically noticeable but completely negligible to my eyes. The angle I have to go to see a severe shift in color and brightness is an angle I couldn’t even watch it from anyway.

    Dude you must have a Grudge against Samsung. In YOUR demo the local dimming Samsung looks the best and you still vote for Sony. The viewing angle on the LG is the worst again in your own Demo and you call it the best. Unless you watch TVs side by side at home and try to compare minor details everyone will be satisfied with all these TVs.

      those pictures are with LD turned off. When you test that way, Samsung seems better, but that is because you cannot really turn LD off on Samsung.

    What I've noticed from this video is that the viewing angles of the Sony are quite good for a VA, a lot better than the 2 Samsung's in this video. Thank you for a very informative review!

    I saw this tv in person yesterday. Its beautiful and has nice clear picture quality. Well worth it for $1599 right now at Bestbuy and Costco.
    I would like this guy compare my 2013 Panasonic plasma to this tv. Anything out in 2017 is superior to what I use everyday.

      suparobb picture quality is amazing. I got a 4k tv 2 years ago that didnt have any hdr. This Samsung 8 series blows that one out the water with a true HDR. Now i know what 4k is and its great. The apps that r built in are awesome and super fast, even faster than a roku

      oh yeah !! its because i returned a Lg 49'' 4k at 650$$ canadian i now i choosed the samsung mu8000 at 1200$$ canadian to have better quality because the lg was very poor and dark , its first time in my life i spend so much money on t.v and i want to have good stuff , thanks for rassurate me :)

    • @Aaron-ox8ye
      @Aaron-ox8ye 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      suparobb welcome. Some people like these weird settings on their tvs where the picture is really dark. I have mine on dynamic its bright with a billion pixels. I have heard that lg is really dark. The guy at bestbuy told me Samsung and Sony are the best, but Sonys would always freeze

  • @MyReviews_karkan
    @MyReviews_karkan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +40

    I think they have some issues with Samsung (could be due to not receiving a free review unit from them or something like that) and that is why they have not been praising their TVs as much as Sony's for this whole year. Literally every Samsung TV this year is not a very good TV in their eyes. In the contrast test, you can clearly see that the Sony had much more glow around that white square and also the white cross before that and he is still saying the Sony is better (see this 1:25 and after). I personally have this TV. I bought it exactly 3 weeks ago and it is a phenomenal TV. It is just as good as the Sony if not slightly better. I mean it is no OLED, but it is well worth it for the price you are paying ($1599 vs $1999 for the Sony). The only Sony that I would personally buy over this Samsung is the Z9D, A1E, and 930E, otherwise; buy it and save yourself $400 if you are thinking about getting the Sony 900E. Just my 2 cents.

    • @SC-mb2ib
      @SC-mb2ib 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm with you. I'm a very picky when it comes to local dimming. Looking at the comparisons shown as you indicated on 1:25, am I blind to see that MU8000 is better?!

    • @nimajavadi6986
      @nimajavadi6986 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah exactly. In this demo you can clearly see better blacks in the local dimming on Mu8000 but he still calls Sony better. And the viewing angle of the LG is total crap and he calls it best.

    • @kevinatkab5219
      @kevinatkab5219 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The problem here is the Sony is shown with local dimming off but the Samsung cannot turn local dimming off. these are not fair comparisons. if you look at the 900e review with LD on, it is much better than samsung.

    • @radi0activedonutsx3
      @radi0activedonutsx3 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Completely agree. I recently bought this TV and it's phenomenal. Picture quality is amazing and sound quality is actually pretty damn good for TV speakers. Plus Samsung's entire smart system and design seems way more polished.

    Isn't the Local Dimming test switched? I mean in this test the MU8000 looks miles ahead of the Sony X900E and we know that's not the case!

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They aren't switched, but the videos are more compressed. Check the individual videos on the reviews on the website for a better quality. But even then, the videos don't do a good justice due to the lens reflections of the camera. The difference is more apparent in person.

    Amazing tv, the only problem i had with it was playing on a standard ps4. The 49” model lacks the blur reduction setting in the motion plus settings tab, so fast motion games didn’t have enough juice to capture fast response times. When i upgraded to the ps4 pro that’s when i noticed a difference. The upgrade to the 4k resolution helped clear the picture and hide the flaw, which seemed like slow response time from lack of blur reduction.

    • @kevin-rk9uk
      @kevin-rk9uk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jakoidtonge 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The MU8000 is a good TV,a streamlined version of the KS8000.The TV is very balanced,just enough to give you a great picture,but couldve used a much wider color gamut,cause it has the ability to get pretty bright.Its not doing anything special compared to 2016 models,but you will appreciate the picture quality and black uniformity.Due to prior terrible OP system and remote experience with the 2016 Sony 850D, Sony 900E was not my choice for 2017.If Sony finesses their OP system and remote,they would be all over Samsung and LG.You can't beat Sony's picture and build quality,but if you want a complete TV with smooth operation,go with Samsung or LG.

  • @JayMalaviya
    @JayMalaviya 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Not proper review. MU8000 comes with 2 stand sizes 55" and 38.5" so you can put this tv on smaller table as well. Also with almost no bezel and best cable management system it is one of the best looking tv in the market.

  • @damonbaird1173
    @damonbaird1173 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I feel like gaming on my ps4 with the mu8000, especially fast paced sports games wasnt great with response time, there were significant trails. Until i picked up the pro, the 4k resolution felt like the response time was bumped and now i love it.

    So here's my take on the MU8000 vs X900E. I want to Best Buy today and they had both on display. I was pretty blown away by the MU8000 and incredibly disappointed by the Sony. It didn't even look 4K if I'm being honest. Yes, it could be the lighting in the store, the settings they used, the video they're playing etc. but I'm going to trust my eyes before I trust a bunch of nerd tests with white boxes over black backgrounds that I'll never see. So I'm going to get the MU8000 because I'd hate to get the X900E home and find out it looks just like it looks in Best Buy.

      I was in store too and had my wife and my Dad and we kept going back to the Samsung over the Sony its picture was so much better in colors popping or being more vivid vs the Sony model. We ended up buying the 65 inch MU8000 and have had it about a 2 weeks now. It's damn nice TV and what I don't get is like every BB rep was over pushing the Sony model. Almost to the point of like car salesman push. I even noticed a couple of them had Sony sewn in the right side of their blue shirts. I think they have to be getting spiffs for sales of Sony TV's and thats why they over pushing them.

    • @wots93

      Samsung motion rate like other manufacturers is more marketing hype. There are only two native refresh rates 60hz and 120hz. The 49" Samsung MU8000 is the only size in the Samsung 8 Series that is 60hz. All larger sizes are 120hz. Not exactly sure why Samsung has lower refresh rate on 49" other than for price competitive reasons. Keep in mind that there is nothing broadcast in 120hz today

    Best review yet! My father has the XBR900E and it's a stunning television. The Android TV system is smooth, lag free, picture quality is amazing even with the sun shining and while gaming. I don't know about audio, he has it hooked up to an external receiver. However, I'm going to try my luck with the 65" MU8000 which is $1450CAD vs $2300CAD for the 65" XBR900E. I can't justify that price difference. I'll be viewing the television head-on, wall mounted at a -10" tilt.

    I don't know but in the local dimming demo in this video you said the Sony X900E was the best, but it looked terrible to me and the Samsung MU8000 looked much better. Can you explain? (I watched at 1080p by the way).

    • @homeboi808
      @homeboi808 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Sony one doesn’t have as much blooming. It may look like it does, but that’s actually the camera being overexposed. Play the actual videos for each (not the side by side here), and you can more easily see that the Sony is indeed better in this regard.

    • @JohnDCrafton
      @JohnDCrafton 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, I took your advice and looked at the vids on rtings.com. The vertical bloom on the Samsung is more apparent there and looks terrible. The Sony looks better but still not that great. I guess they're both better than no local dimming though.

    Do you think it's too bad for the eyes to sit 1.8 meter away from a 55 inch Sony x900e tv? I can't find the 49 inch one only the 55 inch but I can sit away from it maybe 2 meters at most...so I'm asking other people's opinions about it. What do u think?

  • @eggonomiks
    @eggonomiks 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    unfortunately your q&a is down on your site, but i was wondering if you realized that when you're testing native contrast, and you do not have the opportunity to turn off the local dimming completely , the tv isn't getting as bright. on the ks8000 the contrast is higher on the off setting compared to low setting. maybe test all tvs under all settings of local dimming,.

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but it doesn't have an impact for contrast on the MU8000 even if you can't turn off local dimming completely depending on how you measure it. While it doesn't get as bright, the blacks near the whites also don't get as bright, so the contrast stays the same on the checkboard pattern that we use to measure contrast.

      You are overreacting. First, not everyone have experienced this unglueing thing. Second, even if so it wont happen right away. It might take a year or more. Thrid, it does not affect how TV works. And lastly, this can be fixed easly even on your own.

Chatted with a couple of techs from Samsung and they tell me it is Amazon's app problem. When I go into the picture setting, the picture size is not functioning. Anyone else experienced something so lame? I don't have that problem with my Vizio.

      It depends on the content. For HDR movies and most video games, 4:2:0 10 bit would be better than 4:4:4 8 bit.

    • @holycrusader7287
      @holycrusader7287 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      2700? Why pay for a led tv at this price? Get the lg 55 inches c7 why ? Good input lag at about 22ms but the BIG difference is the pixel response time at only 0.1ms vs 11ms with a led display. Not only u will get a nice picture but u will get a nice picture in motion. Trust me i have done about 10 hours of research for the best gaming/ movie tv and this is it the lg c7. I dont know where u live but if ur lucky - I am not i live in Canada so an oled tv is 3000$ Tax incl. so i am saving for the c7- and have the chance to have a good price on a oled tv go for it. The 900e is about the same for movies but the responsivness of the tv will never beat the oled.._ do you play fast fps ? Do u need an agressive display ? Hope it helps a little for further questions write back dont hesitate

      holycrusader I had to return my OLED because of permanent screen burn in. So although it doesn't happen to everyone... It does happen. Not recommended for gaming or PC use!!! Also if you know anything about motion you should know Sony x900e is the best because of their superior X1 processor chip. OLEDs aren't the best for motion and judder compared to this Sony because of the processor too,

    • @holycrusader7287
      @holycrusader7287 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MOnsta, thanks for ur reply. I am going to buy a 4k tv this week. Oled burn in on ur set? Did u have an older oled model because they largely improve that problem I guess with c7, b7. I thought oled motion was the best of the best. did you finally get the 900e or the 930e ? i am going at best best this Friday to pick one of the 2 (c7 or 900e) ... (i dont think 930e is worth it for increase brightness and lower input lag) I am still on the fence ( i play games at night so oled is very appealing) between the 2 because this year the war seems to be between these 2 models! 55900e is 2000 $ can and c7 is 2500$ can ( on sale now). I don't know who to trust, which technology to trust. This makes my choice very hard!

    I have been doing research on a good 4K HDR TV's for a month now, this TV was in my consideration but now I think I'll just go with the Sony X900E and pray that I don't get a defective one like some people have claimed and that the input lag is bearable since I mostly play fighting and shooting games(Destiny, Halo, Call of duty, Injustice,Tekken,Naruto,Gears of war, etc).

    congratulations very good page, I have some questions that I hope you can help me before, that nothing is the recommended calibration for hdr in the mu8000 of 55 since the temperature of the warm color 2 looks very yellow while in sdr it looks good, for the Can I copy your calibration of color space and white balance?
    Buy this tv mu8000 of 55 but seeing so many good reviews of Sony x900e was not a good purchase, tell me that the image difference is really worth it, pay $ 400 more for the sound of a more basic design and with a delay much higher than mu8000, have an androi system worse than Samsung with the adactador brick, you tube is not hdr, connection that I find very functional since I do not have to go behind the television to connect everything, I can not return my mu8000 tv since the I have 15 days ago and here in my country the stores give 8 days of time for that besides they do not give cash if it is not a bonus to get anything else and they do not have the sony x900e
    I have not been able to enjoy my TV knowing that I do not buy something very good, first I bought the mu6300 from 55 and I sold it to the 15 days that I did not like at all, then I buy this and if I notice the change in all aspects remarkably but now I see the x900e and it's better because I read in many places and I say no more than if the mu8000 costs 400 dollars less thank you very much excuse my english, greetings from colombia help me with a not so basic configuration for this TV in HDR and SDR
