Join our reference staff for a new online series offering short tutorials on genealogy and archival research! In this first presentation, Reference Coordinator Courtney Pinkard will review the historical background and purpose of the Freedmen's Bureau, its successes and failures, and the structure of its operations in Alabama. Participants will take a look at records created by the Bureau and discover how they can shed light on the lives of newly freed African Americans.
