Couldn't agree more. We can't even begin to imagine what these real heroes went through on the battlefield. I have understood this one thing that, the ones who sighs for the wars are the ones who are the farthest from the battlefield. The real heroes are the ones who stays at the battlefield and fight till their last breath for their country's tomorrow as written by Vijayant Singh in his letter to his family.
It's not like that every Indians feel the same pain for the family therefore we are listening this story after 22 years and continue to listen it forever....
When my father passed away I was posted at a remote location. I returned home for a month. I had to transfer his house and farm in my and my mother’s name. That time I have myself seen and experienced the attitude and disrespect of police and few ppl from civil administration. I had just one months time… had all documents in order but … all wanted money… I remember a civil babu saying … aap ko toh 70 lakh ka ghar milra hai.. hume kya doge???? WTF? I straight way approached the collector of the district and he was kind enough to understand the situation and helped me immediately. The bottom line is … in our country desh Bhakti is short lived. I am now retired but will always be a soldier and continue to serve my great country. Jai Hind
This episode is turning point of my life. After seeing this episode in 2009 I have decided to become an army officer. I have two times attempted to clear ssb, but unfortunately I have failed. But all Kargil war heroes is my inspiration. They are always inspired me. Thank you ibn7 & RICHA ANIRUDH ma'am.

after watching one Shershah I was so moved, I came up to this video and I see many brave Shershahs who have given their blood and life for the country and wider community. Given their life so others who they do not even know can live peacefully. It takes a lot of courage to do that to be a soldier and give your life for the good of others. Government of India needs to make sure that if they are rewarding any one for their bravery the whole action is completed without any restrictions. Any government employee who is asking for bribe to finish their task are a shame to the country and should be thrown in jail. Not true. In the US, we take army as a job and no one asks for compensations for doing their work. This is even more of a fact France and UK. That's why we respect those families and soldiers naturally while in India, not all, but many families are only interested in taking more and more from people and govt as though encashing the sacrifice. It does not take away from the bravery of the soldiers but reflects questionable social behavior. Secondly, for an average citizen respecting soldiers doesn't mean singing anthem, unfurling flag or paying compensation or bhi doing statues - we respect soldiers by doing our civil duty that includes every thing from following traffic rules to not littering, not paying bribes, following rules etc. Start doing that instead of just making blanket hollow statements about patriotism, soldiers and respecting!

Hats off to these heroes, and all our defence forces. I think our country owes a whole lot more to them then just empty praises...And reservations in private jobs after leaving the army... Every year, I see these tributes and flowers, but nothing ever changes for the soldier's family... whether he's dead or alive... if he's dead, then his family has to pick up the threads on their own, and fight their way, with no additional support from the govt, except the insurance amount and some kind words. If he's alive, he's put as a security guard, at the least possible salary.... I have seen even the best of corporates - speak eloquently about the army, but when a retired soldier (soldiers retire early around the age of 35-40) comes for an interview, the company takes out its beautiful Job Descriptions, looks at the role clarity, looks at fitment, and then says "He's already getting a pension... so this much salary is enough for him" OR "We can get a younger person at half the salary" OR "We dont have a requirement right now, we will get back to you"... WHAT BULLSHIT! THEY LOOK AT THEIR TOPLINES AND BOTTOMLINES AT ALL TIMES, EVEN WHEN A FORMER SOLDIER IS WAITING AT THE DOOR FOR A JOB... and that is why I say that all this tribute is nothing but Crocodile tears.... if you dont like my comment, please go and visit the wife of a soldier who has died for the country, ask her how her life is, ask her how much support the local adminstration has given, and you will realise the horrible truth.

Respected Sir, My name is Vivan Pradeep. I am 11 years old. I stay in Delhi. I too wish to join the Indian Army, like my Chachu who is a Col. with 26 Madras. He is my proper idol of inspiration to join the army in the future. However, I do not understand the discrimination made in numbers in the media by our brave shoulders during the Kargil War. Why the numbers? They all should be at No 1 because they sacrificed themselves for our future. I too will do the same for the country. Bharat Mata Ke Jay. Any Time !

Not true. In the US, we take army as a job and no one asks for compensations for doing their work. This is even more of a fact France and UK. That's why we respect those families and soldiers naturally while in India, not all, but many families are only interested in taking more and more from people and govt as though encashing the sacrifice. It does not take away from the bravery of the soldiers but reflects questionable social behavior. Secondly, for an average citizen respecting soldiers doesn't mean singing anthem, unfurling flag or paying compensation or bhi doing statues - we respect soldiers by doing our civil duty that includes every thing from following traffic rules to not littering, not paying bribes, following rules etc. Start doing that instead of just making blanket hollow statements about patriotism, soldiers and respecting!

Hats off to these heroes, and all our defence forces. I think our country owes a whole lot more to them then just empty praises...And reservations in private jobs after leaving the army... Every year, I see these tributes and flowers, but nothing ever changes for the soldier's family... whether he's dead or alive... if he's dead, then his family has to pick up the threads on their own, and fight their way, with no additional support from the govt, except the insurance amount and some kind words. If he's alive, he's put as a security guard, at the least possible salary.... I have seen even the best of corporates - speak eloquently about the army, but when a retired soldier (soldiers retire early around the age of 35-40) comes for an interview, the company takes out its beautiful Job Descriptions, looks at the role clarity, looks at fitment, and then says "He's already getting a pension... so this much salary is enough for him" OR "We can get a younger person at half the salary" OR "We dont have a requirement right now, we will get back to you"... WHAT BULLSHIT! THEY LOOK AT THEIR TOPLINES AND BOTTOMLINES AT ALL TIMES, EVEN WHEN A FORMER SOLDIER IS WAITING AT THE DOOR FOR A JOB... and that is why I say that all this tribute is nothing but Crocodile tears.... if you dont like my comment, please go and visit the wife of a soldier who has died for the country, ask her how her life is, ask her how much support the local adminstration has given, and you will realise the horrible truth.
